as many people i do not have time to review but i want to say just great work, for the people who have been fighting for years wit CB their dead and unfriendly forum this is a great extension.

And moreover with no external links, from now on it's just a matter of improvement and contribution to make of this the best one

Overall, it has been very friendly to use. With the help of Firebug, I have edited the colors, buttons, tabs, etc in the code itself to match my template. In this way, CBE is lacking customization.

Also, WYSIWIG editors could be useful in the writable text areas of the profile like comment(I changed to "Wall"), blog entry, etc. I believe that would make it more sophisticated for the user & similar to Facebook, Ning, Kickapps competitors.

I also found that clicking on the CBE Help links didn't go anywhere- 404 error. Also, the rescue lifering icon that links to Help in the control panel was useless as well for the CBE extension. Hopefully there is a fix for this. But, I prob. wouldn't know since the CBE site is in German, the help book in the install kit is in German, and so on. I thought that was hilarious. If it wasn't for so many failed extension installation attempts in other Joomla extensions, I would truly be frustrated.

I have come to accept useless complexity at its finest. Thank you CBE.

didnt have much of a problem installing it. one thing i wish was available to shut off is the googlemaps api key thingy. other than that its a great idea, works well, very smooth. pretty much has everything one could ask for. support seems to be mia since my emails were never responded to.

Tried to install login module then component. Install fails.
Tried to install component then module, failed.
No documentation for english, so this extension is really for german lang for now....

This extension is not ready for release...

You need to install the Component and the login module, and then enable the module for this to work. You also need to edit the English files to define some strings.
The file is /joomla_root/components/com_cbe/enhanced/language/english.php
Add the following:

DEFINE('_CREATE_ACCOUNT', 'Register one now!');

After that's all done, it works without any problems other than the "Forgot Password" link takes users to a blank page, but this is a beta version and the devs are still working on translations and regularly updating the core. This is for version 1.5 Beta.

The page where users edit their profiles is a little slow to load. I also tested registration with Security Images and it works! It has all the functionailty of Community Builder without the nag-ware and "documentation only for paid subscribers". I've already put it into production!

Great extension overall.

I was very happy to see the CBE coming into live again as I was using the former version for a couple of websites.
The CBE is not a one-man project anymore but consists of a couple of programmers and designers who really know how to support their costumers. Theirs answers have been very supportive and I'm very anxious to see the upcoming version. If half the promises are held this component will become one of my favorite ones !
