This is a verry good component, i've been searching for a long time for a good and easy form builder but didn't found anything better than this.
I've seen that there is a joomfish suport but just for joomla ver. 1.0 :(

There's no real support for the component and you can't set the return email address to whatever the user enters, which means if you hit reply it just goes back to yourself.

Apart from the reply email problem, which is pretty huge considering it's an email form, it is pretty easy to get up and running.

Like many others here I downloaded and had my first simple contact form up and running in about 15 minutes. I ran into the same problem of a blank page after my first form submission but the small change described in the forum got everything up and running.

I see there is no radio button support which could be a problem for the larger forms I hope to create but perhaps this will be addressed in future version.

All in all a very good extension.

I tested all form extensions an ArtForms is my chice expecialy for adding html code bettween elements so you can design your form layout how you want.
also easy to use.

but if any one developed own forms with ArtForms please send link or put links for examples some exaples needed i think

I have tried a lot of form components available including some commercial ones and wasted considerable amount of time. They all have some quirks and strange behavior. ArtForms is however among the best I have used.

The good:
- It is simple to install and set up
- It works - even when the user has I.E browser
- Nice looking forms
- It is free
- It keeps a database of all submitted forms - which can be exported to Excel and CSV.
- Fields can be sorted (no, not all form components are able to that)

The bad:
- No radio buttons (use list instead)
- Cannot set the user’s email adress as "from" address (you cannot reply to the emails)
- Cannot list checkboxes horizontally
- No documentation. This component seems to be very powerful - but we will never know.

The ugly:
- Captcha: The form will be blanked out when entering wrong captcha code, making the user start all over again.
- Captcha is not aligned with the form fields
- Bug: When pressing Submit button the user gets a blank window. There is a fix for this.
- The "Thank you" window conflicted with my JA Purity template layout. Had to redirect to a separate "Thank you" article.

Now, why isn´t a good form component integrated in Joomla in the first place?

An extremely simple extension but still very powerful!
You can build your favourite kind of form choosing each single voice and setting them in your own language.

After trying several forms extensions, even commercial ones unsuccessfully, I decided to give ArtForms a try, and I don't regret. This is a great extension that allowed me to create a form without any complication. It produces a very clean front end interface and intuitive error massage when a required field is left blank.

I do have to admit that at first when submitting the form, I will get a blank page instead of a thank you page. However, I found a fix for it in the below post.

I have been trying all different non commercial forms extensions available. Surprisingly, there aren't many extensions that allow you to create just simple registration forms adding or removing fields as you would do in html. Artforms is very easy to use, flexible and well designed.

I hope the only bug I am aware of (i.e. if you change the form settings in the settings tab and save you get an error and you need to manually correct config.artforms.php) will soon be solved.

This has been the most easy-to-use forms component. It has been working, only one bad thing: I can't attach any module to the form page (except is a module attached to all site).

I goint to try the RC2 version and I'll come to tell you my experience.

We have been using artForms since Nov. 2008 (in production since Dec. 2008) and really do like it. It does everything we need it to do and of course it is FREE. I would highly recommend this extension. If you have problems with it, I suggest uninstalling/ re-installing it as I didn't have any problems and had it up within mins.

I see that a lot of people complaining about a lot of things about this form but, I seriously cant see why? All the needed info is on the site and everything works just fine with it, unlike other complicated components, this 1's really easy to figure out and doesn't ask you for several steps, 1 page and its all done!. Great job Gonzalo, I think this forms tweaked to perfection now, please all, download the latest versions for both 1.5 and 1.x, I'm using the 1.x version and its like a German car, never dies on you and the dials are simple and crisp, as for centering and font size, the code is right there for each field guys, just a little Trial and error and all's good! The recapta works fine, can be brought to the side and the redirect works even if a url is not specified. Only 1 problem I found in the whole component is that the redirect page says, your email has been sended instead of send. Cheers

No support, no website, no updated files, no plugins or modules for J1.5. No instructions... spent a couple of hours trying to work this out and gave up in the end and bought a commercial form product.

I just finish the testing of ArtForms! and the only thing i have to say is a big BRAVO!!!
Its easy to install and manage!

It would have great potential, but it simply doesn't work as it should.

1: It does not redirect to a "thanks for sending" site, not even if the site is specificly given with a link.

2: If the option to use the websites CSS is ticked the layout is completely screwed up.

3: The recaptcha form is centered the rest isn't. To fix seems complicated.

4: Html text field option doesn't work. I even installed JKF editor to try if the Artform just didn't see my tinymce.. no success.

5: Send button has white background and can't be integrated nicely in black pages.

6: "required" image is not transparent. looks bad on black pages.

7: Received email does not have the senders email adress as a "from" address. I didn't figur out how to configure a form so, that it used the name and email from the form for the email being sent.

8: Authors website is down.

BUT IF this ever works as it should and the above things are fixed, this will be a BRILLIANT extension! Good luck with it! I really hope it will be fixed.

Major reason why I can't use it:
After sending a message it goes to blank page.
Recaptcha form can't be positioned on the page.

This component seems very promising. But unfortunately it's very buggy, and there isn't any real support. Hope both will improve in the future.

This extension had recieved some great reviews and seemed like just the component I had been looking for. Unfortunately I could not proceed past the install.

1. Poor/no documentation. I had difficulty understanding which installation was actually needed for J1.5.X and ultimately tried several, each being unsuccessfull (yes even ArtForms_2.1b7.1_for_J1.5.x_RC1)

2. Poor support. Combing through the forums and bug reports, trying to work out where I had gone wrong, it is apparent that there is no support from the developers. I found several post by users experiencing install issues with their various releases and various Joomla versions. One suggested a manual install. "Ok" I thought, "I guess I can muck arround with it a bit longer". While the manual install initally appeared successful, I was disappointed to find that I could still not actually create any forms or even look at the settings tab. 404 errors, crashing, freezing etc

While it appears that with the latest release developers are still trying to debug for J1.0x, it is unfortunate that users with j1.5.X have been ignored.

This component has the potential to be one of the best Joomla form components. It is really easy to use once you understand it but the learning curve is not bad, just annoying..

At this time I can only rate it AVERAGE too GOOD for the following reasons;

• NO DOCUMENTATION
• The form cannot be linked to the menu, only through an external link, could be better, not critical.
• I cannot get modules to publish on the form page
• I cannot insert pictures in the form test area, it grabs some extra code from somewhere when the form is saved.
• If the Security Code is entered incorrectly the form resets and the information has to be re-entered, THAT WILL NEVER HAPPEN, you will lose users.


Good luck with the development of this component, don’t give up on it is by far the best start I have seen.

Where have you been all those hours I have slaved over other extensions and form creation widgets BRAVO! Would pay a small amount (say US $25) for this happily... beats the one I DID pay for by MILES and saved me hours and hours just today!!

I absolutely love this form program, the best I have used, and I have tried them all. The ease of the Artform was astonishing! No jumping through code to make a form, its outstanding!!!

The only issue I have, however minor it may be, but I did have to upload the program by using my FTP. I had to upload the main file (unziped) to my tmp directory then go back to Joomla backend manager and install from there. For some novice users, which I am, it took me a couple of minutes. I also would like to see them create a way to have the forms that were submitted by site surfers, to get posted directly to either a joomla article or atleast have the option to go to an external site.

Other than those two minor issues, this Form creator is the absolute BEST, hands down!!! Thanks for making such an easy Form Creator!
