I was looking for a easy solution for commenting on articles and Slicomments was exactly what i was looking for. I had it up and running within minutes and had all the configuration options that I needed!
I tested it in joomla 2.5.2. Its an extension with great potential. the only importante problem that i find is that the function for rate the comments dont have any control on how many times an user can vote. So, i can rate one comment all the times i want. That makes this particulary function unusable, at least for me. But the rest of the extension is great.
i´ve been using this plugin and i love it, i just use the basic configuration because i havent found yet the sli comment option i i dont know how activate it.
The plugin is so easy to install
Is a very elegant and look serious (not "Fanny whit all those emoticons")

I have not yet tested the full extent of the commenting system, but the administration side has issues. First, if you are using a netbook, you can't save the slicomment options. Second, even with a regular screen, saving the slicomments goes into an infinite loop -- although, it does look as though the slicomments are saved correctly. Have not fully tested the actual adding and managing of the comments, so if that works okay, the system is useable.
The reason for the less rating is because there is no support at all. The other reason is the plugin works well so far but visitors can't see there is a comment function on the main blog site. You need click on the post first and leave the main site then the comment option appears.

That's such a great extension - very easy to set up and works flawlessly!
Unfortunately, it doesn't have integration with Community Builder avatars, which for me is a must since I'm upgrading my sites from 1.5 and for those I used another comments system (which hasn't been updated for 1.6 yet!)which had integration with CB avatars, so it's a feature I would really love to have.
I wouldn't mind paying for the CB avatar integration. Actually, I wouldn't really mind paying for this extension at all, it's so amazing it's worth it.

This thing installed with absolutely no problems at all -- and was easily configured, even for this relative newcomer to Joomla. I did have one issue that dogged me for almost two hours (completely my fault) and finally resorted to asking for help. I was expecting to wait a couple of days for an answer, but instead, had one in no more than an hour or two. Now it works exactly as I want. Not real fancy, but all I was looking for. Thanks!
It would have to export comments from other components
This component was a joy to use. Simple install on a Joomla 2.5.1 site. All of the default options seemed very reasonable, yet were very easy to find and change.
The layout is clean, and the extension seems to be lightweight enough to not add much strain to my server when it's put under load.

Only rated it as Good because I only installed it and created 1 comment. Super easy to install and setup. In fact, Just install it and it is automatically enabled by default.
Would like to see the ratings as the standard thumb up and thumb down. And not just show up as hover link. Or make it a configurable option.

sliComments installs without problem on joomla 2.5. and is very easy to configure and use.
At time when i write this review, sliComments is just starting so there are fiew options missing. (For example - it does not show Kunena avatars yet while it allready use Kunena profile names)
Because i see author is very active in updating this extension and it allready show great potential - I believe, soon it may be one of best comment extensions for joomla 1.7 and up.

I installed and enabled the component with no trouble on a 1.7 site. The interface is simple and easy to follow.
I was able though to input a javascript alert into the text area and obtain a list of all the cookies.
I did not go any further with the testing, but this area needs some work.

sliComments has an option to allow HTML in the comments (which comes deactivated by default), but there are HTML filtering options, the same way the "Articles manager" have.
So you can set the "Allow html" to "No" or tweak the "HTML Filters" option to best suit you site needs, the tooltips in the options screen will give you detailed info on how to properly configure this.
