I hesitated before installing JComments because of a prior review that said it didn't work with IE8. But I decided to give JComments a try, anyway, and am very glad that I did. It works just fine with IE8 and Firefox on my site. I assume the problem might be with a specific Joomla template or type of template, but I tried it with a couple different templates without a problem. The component was easy to install and set up, with all the options I needed. It looks as good or better than any other system I have tried.

Fit into any templates. Also I found a good Arabic translation for it.
Compare to other, it's the best.
Its look like WordPress comment form.

First of all I would like to say how fantastic this extension is and how glad I was to have it on my website - until these problems with the f**ing Internet Explorer showed up. All the pages where this component was activated coulnd´nt be seen with IE (with Firefox all was perfect!!!). I tried with an IE-Compatibility Plugin, but that couldn´t help either. So I had to deinstall this nearly perfect extension and hope to find it anytime compatible with IE. I hope at least!!!
Greetings Susanne

I bought a licensed version of another comment component (chronocomment) but had couple of issues, which remained unsolved even after posting on their forum, writing mail and waiting for 6 months. I looked for alternative and since jcomments allow import from chronocomments, I opted for it. The installation was breeze.
I had one problem though: After installing jcomments, it worked fine for a week and one day all my comment username (front end)/e-mails (back end) fields were deleted. I posted on their forum and got reply right away. Next I had pagination issues, and I got quick solution. For a free extension, I did not expected this kind of support. Featurewise this is a great component and with excellent support, I would rate this Excellent. Keep it up !

Installed and configured in under 30 minutes. This comments module is really nice.

Pro:
Super Easy to Install
Look/Feel Awesome

Con:
Lacks the ability to flag or report spam comments

Conclusion:
It is really hard to decide between this module and the Facebook comment. I wish there is a way to incorporate Facebook Connect with this module and it will be the "awesomest" available.

I tried this extension and I was like, WOW! It totally rocks. Never have I found an extension with so much user friendly, intuitive functionality built in and it looks great too. Who would believe something so well built and well thought out could be free. Unbelievable.

My only complaint is that I cannot get any help in the support forum. I even hinted that I would pay for this worthy extension if I could get some support. So far it has been three weeks since my initial contact with a forum moderator and I haven't heard a peep. But even with the technical issues I'm having with this software, it's still unbeatable in pretty much every category. Had it not been for the lack of support, I would've easily given it five stars. Hats off to the developer. Try it; you'll like it.

Does exactly what it says out of the Box. I was up and running within *****3 minutes******. The only reason it took even this long because I was typing in {jcomments on} at the bottom of editor. I did not know and did not read the documentation to know that it placed a button below the editor screen to turn it on and off. Really, for a FREE system and for as much functionality as this component provides you CAN'T go wrong. To the developer(s), at BIG THANK YOU! 20 STARS !!!!!

Impressive! 15-minutes after realizing I needed to add comment functionality to some sections of gakushuu.org I had full-featured comments feature seemlessly integrated into the site. Installation was easy, took about 30-seconds from click to test. A rich setup feature allows complete customizing of the comments feature. One of my favorite features is that jcomments is not automatically applied to all articles, but that I can select the specific sections in which I want reader comments. In short, full-featured, seemless integration, easy to install, set-up and use. Another benefit: commercial-grade features at open source cost. Keep up the excellent work. You have my vote.

I've had a lot of trouble with this plug-in and I've come back to it many times and tried many versions of it. I've had to remove it and reinstall it several times on several websites before I ever got it to a workable state. It's been quite a taxing journey for me but at the end of the day I must say I'm extremely happy with the results. This newest version has an even more user friendly back end and delivers what it promises - and IMO it's the best comment solution out there for Joomla. If you do end up in a pickle - stick to it - when you do finally get it set and done you'll have a top notch solution for your commenting needs.

This is really very good application, many compliments indeed. Very easy to install and to understand how it works. Its layout is also simple and elegant as largely rich. Said this let me point out a couple of things

1) when writing an article and breaking it in two parts with a "read more" button, the "Add Comments" link appear at the end of the first part of the article (I mean the introductory article), I thinks is more logical and would be better if it appeared at the end of the article (the second part) after clicking the "read more" button. Instead it is not possible.

2) When adding the "Add Comments" button the "read more" button loses it ccs style. This is not nice!

3) Finally. This is just a request/suggestion: How is it possible to add a BBCode for (Sharing with )FaceBook as it is for Google, Wiki and YouTube.

Took a bit of time to understand what I was doing and realise that I had to download both the module and the components, but after that it was perfect. Maybe the developer could provide clearer instructions. Apart from that it was excellent. Thank you

I choose components mostly based on how well they are supported. Will I have a source of all the help I need now and in the future?

The support for this component is great. I found all I needed to install, configure, customize, and integrate this with all the systems on my site. That rocks!

I think they have done a great job with the visual of the comment list. I think the form should still be styled with some css though to match your comment lists.

Just like other users i am having huge problems changing the language.ini file for english, you should be able to change the en language file and be done, but fhe form headers do not change when you adjust the language file! In the end i just removed the jtext and added my own. Backend hack but at least it is what i want.

This is undoubtedly the best commenting system in Joomla. I was using this on three sites.

Unfortunately I have had to remove it from ALL my sites because of a very very strange issue with Internet Explorer.

The problem is NOT with this beautiful extension but with IE - Because of IE I had to remove this extension I feel sad to have removed it .

The problem on IE is that you get an "Operation Aborted , internet explorer can not load this page" message. IE SUKs!

However on visiting the developers forum I see that the developer is trying very hard to give excellent support to every body - Good Job There.

But if you are using multiple templates like my sites do then you may find it very difficult go get a sensible work around the IE problem.

The day IE dies I will be using this on all my sites again.

Congratulations to the developer - You have an excellent component here. You support is timely , prompt and you find solutions.

Thank you.

The unfortunately developers site does not have a "Support " Link because I am very keen to support this product.

Thank You Again. Happy New Year
vivi

Though I have had to remove this component I still give you 5 stars.

I am very sorry that you had to remove JComments. Indeed, with some Joomla templates, this problem happens with IE. And I have no universal solution at this moment. But let's try to solve the problem with your template? Contact me at the forum and send me a copy of your template, and I will try to find the cause of this error.
