It's very feature rich and also good looking.
You can have individual settings for every usertype, which is very useful.
And also a report function for comments.
The support for custom BBCode is very good too.
It enables you to create your own buttons for any video site etc to embed videos in the comments.
A Youtube button comes as default with the installation of JComments.
The only thing I miss is an "IP ban" feature. But I saw it's coming in a future version.
Installation is a snap, plays well with other components like SOBI2 (they have a plugin for SOBI2) and Eventlist.
Permissions tab in settings is incredible for fine tuning, It has built in subscriptions and even allows for importing comments from other systems if your switching over.
I think it's very powerful & suitable extension, because there is a couple of useful features (f.e. AJAXed front interface) and, of course, a huge of settings for moderating that makes a life of an administrator more easy. :)
I use this tool a long time and I'm satisfied with it.
So, I have to say you should use it in anyway! :)
Great component, nice customization options, great integration, ajax based, BB-code management, advanced avatar options, and many more.
I recommend it for all types of websites.
Thank you Serge
We have been awaiting this release and as for my opinion, JComments is the best comment extension for Joomla due to its flexible settings, suitable UI and usability. Moreover, its code is very clean and maximally optimized - very awesome plus.
Just been installed and tested new version - JComments goes onwards and from the other hand it's absolutely free (GNU/GPL).
JComments can be easily integrated to other components (there is a huge list of supported extensions) and your website can use one comment system. Also it's possible to import comments from other components to JComments.
JComments can work both on Joomla 1.0/1.5, so I would advice anybody to take a look at this extension, since it will enhance your social related website immensely! This is must have!
And off course it's work pretty fine for a years. I glad to see it here. Many thanks to Joomlatune.com team for this awesome software.
Very simple to install - all in one (component/plugins etc).
Huge numbers of options - meets all my needs.
Easy to update. Just install it over.
Nice default template, clean design, AJAX powered.
Good support (at least in native, Russian, forum).
And the main thing is, that you can easily integrate JComments almost in every Joomla! extension.
