Wonderful tool to create your own forms. Just open FrontPage (for example), Insert -> Form, Choose your components. Put as many as you want on the page, switch to the HTML tab, copy it all and paste it in the text field this component provides for you. Name the form and tell it where you want the results sent.

Then.. the part that tripped me up, create a new menu item.
Choose type "Link - URL" then write the URL to be :
index.php?option=com_chronocontact&chronoformname=YOUR_FORM_NAME_HERE

Voila. You've just linked to an entire form you created and the form works beautifully! I tried about every compononent to try and trip it up, but it rocked!

Fantastic work!

I have been looking for a good com. to assist the building of forms. I have tried several without luck. This one totally fits the bill though.

Here is one problem that I had...

When I published the form I kept getting this error:

I had the following errors:

1. I copied and pasted the form tags into the component. This isn't necessary because ChronoForms does it for you.

2. I needed to follow this path...
Go to forms management under "Chrono Forms" under "components" in the admin area.

Select New.

type your form name, lets say it will be "myformname".

insert your own HTML code in the HTML code area.

Save the form

go to Menu > mainmenu > then select New

Choose type "Link - URL" then write the URL to be :
index.php?option=com_chronocontact&chronoformname=myformname

I found this solution on the builders site. Now I am in business.

When not using Joomla do you currently use Dreamweaver or Front Page to create your forms?

Then do yourself a favor and get this component. It is soooo much easier to use. You just create your form in Dreamweaver or similar web program and copy and paste the html into the admin panel. (Design it any way you want, using tables, or whatever you like.)

Being used to creating my forms in Dreamweaver, ChronoForms is SOOOOO much ESASIER than all of the other components I've used here in the Joomla extension library. And it's free.

One thing to keep in mind. When linking to the ChronoForm in the Joomla menu system, use the URL link (not the component link). Use this example link index.php?option=com_chronocontact&chronoformname=myformname (replace "myformname" with the name of the form you have given it in the ChronoForm admin panel.)

As they say on the net, CHEERS and LOL!

I thought so, and wasted tons of time with most of the other free form extensions. I even hovered over the purchase button for several of the commercial offers but just wanted something simple and easy to use. I came back to ChronoForms several times but dismissed it as in, “No way, can’t possibly work as easily as advertised” and off I went, wasting more time and getting more frustrated that something so easily done outside of Joomla! was so hard to do inside it. I just wanted MY forms to work.

I finally downloaded and installed it in the wee hours one morning, then kicked myself for days for not trying it sooner. It’s brilliant! I can use Dreamweaver to create the forms (even tried it with FrontPage..egads, and it worked perfect after the latest release), then just paste it into ChronoForms, tell it what to do with the results, and it’s done.

Had one problem with the first version I tried where it wouldn’t recognize INPUT TYPE= in all caps (yup…FrontPage), but within days of bringing it to the dev’s attention it was fixed. Since then I’ve yet to find a single form developed in Dreamweaver, GoLive or FrontPage that ChronoForms didn’t convert and work with perfectly. I even just pulled form code from random sites to test it and stuck it in ChronoForms and it worked.

Maybe if you tried hard enough you could find something it didn’t work with but it’s handled everything I needed it to do.

Not much documentation, then again, not much needed. Great response from the dev, and so far have absolutely no complaint. Best of all, no fear of making forms work Joomla!

Do yourself a favor and if you can use a 3rd party program to build your form like Dreamweaver or GoLive, give this one a test drive. Definitely wouldn’t have believed it was so easy to publish forms in Joomla! after all I went through.

I have created some pretty complex forms, very quickly. There's not much to say, it does the job perfectly, the help/info things are clear. A great tool. I've only used the HTML part, but now I'm thinking I can use the other options to put the data into the database as well as email the forms. The developer's site has a forum on it. Pretty cool all around.
