great module!

what pushed me to try this module out, was that other news-modules are styled with tables, this one is using only div's, which is a great advantage. And saves me a lot of headaches and fixing with IE6 which was breaking a client's site layout because of the tables in the content area frontpage. (don't know why) This module brilliantly solved my problems)

An extremely useful mod! Why Joomla doesn't have something like this in its core, I
have no idea.
There is only one problem, but its a big one. If it weren't for this problem, I would give this mod an 'excellent', but the problem drops it to 'average'.
Globalnews won't properly validate in its
current version. That makes it impossible to use if you have a highly competitive website where you need every edge.
If you've got a personal blog, by all means, go for this mod..you'll love it! But more professional sites should give it a miss until its validation errors are fixed.

A very simple mod, easy to use and configure, turnkey out of the box. But its tough to get support from the developer for a more advanced issue like validation. A users forum is answered only by other users.

I just love this extension and it adds a crown to our news web portal. Spent little time for configuring the settings and choose to give four stars.

I would give Global News 5 stars, if it wasn't for the fact that I have yet to figure out how to display the authors cb avatar next the author name.

Solve that and I'll make a donation :)

So, the component look very good, many nice reviews but I installed it and in some articles an weird error appeared. So i gone to forum and there was two other people with same issue.
One of topics said that they send the bug fix to donators, but no solution.
If a donation is necessary for a bug fix, so please, put this like COMERCIAL extension.
With 2 open issues and no answers to they, I give up this extensions.

I was stunned to see that joomla lacked such a common module. Luckily my first attempt to find a proper extension landed me here.
Moderately easy to use (30 minutes toying around to discover all it's features) with all the abilities I was ever hoping to find, and then some.

I will be using this one quite a lot :)

This is a great module that I was able to easily customize to do exactly what I needed. Just a couple of things; I couldn't figure out how to remove the default CSS. Also, it resized images to pixel values with decimal. I fixed this by adding the line $width = round($width); $height = round($height);. These are very minor issues though and I rate this module five stars.

I'd like to thank you for this extension, I had been looking in vain for something like it. It's very simple, extremely customizable and very good looking in its sobriety.
I use it to display one random article from my website on my front page, all categories and sections mixed. To do this I set up the display of one random section, displaying random articles.
It works fine, but I would still make a small suggestion: make this possible directly by allowing a "uncategorized" display of articles.

Perfect module. thanks for great job.
I am using it more than once, but I look for some feature that I couldn't find yet. I need to keep the format of introtext, this module clears format.
I mean how to save paragraphs.

This is an absolutely first rate component from the guys who brought us xmap. I had been looking for something like this for a long time and am truly happy to have found it! Works exactly as one would hope and having tried a number of other extensions before this one I can safely say hand on heart that I can recommend this one wholeheartedly!

The best out there. I use it on sites that have tremendous traffic to site that have little traffic. Works like a charm.

It's so easy to customize and the support is super fast.

His many parameters allow to adapt it in complete way to own demands.

The support is excellent, the help is great and very fast. The developer, Jesús Vargas, is really nice. The design of the module is great .... it's a really good module I recommend to you !

This is a very handy component. It does a great job, but here are some features that might be included:

1) Div cycles, prefferably chosen by the user (like the flexcontent mod)
2)Abillity ofr multiple use on one page
3)Abillity to mix introtext articles and titles

However even without these fatures GN is a great mod! Thank u guys!

This is a module that should be in every Joomla installation. A lot of options to show your latest news in very beautiful ways (especially the slider option is fantastic). It is also possible to install more than one instance of this module.

Had some trouble in IE7 at first, but the help from Jésus was great and very fast! The replies on the reviews show that too. You ask, he does!

Everybody download this module as fast as possible. Such a great product can't be free for long!

I'm newbie, and for me is very easy of install and customize.

Very useful and cool module, excellent addons for your users.
You can put in any position, if you position is little, you can choose one column, if you have more space, you can choose more columns.

This module should be integrated into the Joomla! core!! This module gives you MUCH greater flexibility on how you handle "latest news" items on your pages. 4.5 stars!!

The only complaint I have is that there seems to be no way to modify the position of the date (I want it on top of the title). But heck, that's minor! I only deducted half a star!
