This is what I was looking for! Been trying a bunch of other things that just didn't quite fit the bill.

I don't see a way to remove the author name ("administrator" in this case) or the quote marks. Other than those tiny details, this is great!

Thank you, Todor. This is an excellent and very useful extension. To be perfect only one thing is missing: a Joomfish specif extension, in order to allow the translation of the listed quotes. I hope that one of these days somebody can arrange it.
This extension works realy well. In my opinion it is the best quote extention for joomla. Easy quote adding and managment from the backend.
The only thin to be aware of is the download button in the is extension directory only downloads the comopnent, you need the module as well.

Great work, thanks for this! Go to the website if you need a module to show random quotes. Works perfectly on my NASCAR website!
