Ultimate Mailing Lists (free version) Component

Ultimate Mailing Lists is a Joomla component, made to help you organize your contacts into contact lists, and manage them through a central frame.

Further than that, it can be used to send emails/newsletters/invitations/etc to subscribed users (and even unsubscribed ones), and generally used as an email sending application.

You will be able to generate and manage mailing lists, and your users will be able to subscribe/unsubscribe from them by using the convenient frontend component.

UML is heavilly operated in the Joomla backend.
Frontend users have the possibilities of:
- subscribing/unsubscribing to mailing lists/newsletters

Mailing through Joomla has never been easier and more organized!

- Create Unlimited Mailing Lists
- Create Unlimited Subscribers
- Create, Modify and Send a Newsletter from the back-end
- Automatically subscribe your registered users in your Lists
- Front-end Registration to Mailing Lists
- Any visitor can subscribe (not only registered users)
- Email address validation when registering
- Sending messages to multiple lists
- Sending messages to multiple contacts
- Unique email sending
- Resend/Forward Capability
- Failures Log
- Synchronize with registered users
- Import email contacts from any database table

I really want to rate this excellent, but there are still many things I can not get working on my site. It is working for the basic needs I have and for that is the reason I would like to rate this product higher than good! I have multiple lists going and the support team was helpful getting this configured properly for my site. The biggest problems I am having are with the Maintenance Tools on the backend, however these are bells and whistles not needed to use the product.

I am wondering if there is further development going on for this product. The biggest thing on my wishlist would be that there be access from the front end for only a group of users. My site is for an online gaming society and each league admin would like to have access to their mailing lists to send notices of events/contests/etc.... I have tried everything, and it looks like I either open it up to everyone, open up the whole admin backend to my league admins, or do all the mailings myself. Is this something others are interested in as well? Is this something that could be developed in the near future?

I do not use the free version, I have purchased my software and if I am missing something, please let me know.

Good job on this project!

We are currently developing more features in UML, yes. Your request, we haven't considered yet, but please post it on our forum (www.axxis.gr/forum) to discuss it and get feedback from other users as well.
Thank you for your review!

I can't imagine that a Joomla component with a version number as high as 4.33 but has NO complete language file! And still using PHP format language file on Joomla 1.5 !
Owner's reply

The versioning number has nothing to do with how old a component is! It is the dev's decision to change version numbers as he/she wants! It could be v18.95.07! So what??? As for formatting language, both produce the same result, so where's your point??? The language file is complete for the front-end, but not for the back-end, yes, so is that the only reason to rate an extension so low? You are being very unfair here...

I am not happy with this extension at all, when I went through the screen shots I thought it was just what I am looking for but the screen shots are of the Commericial version, not this free one.

You can not upload pictures or edit the HTML of the messages. You can't configure very much at all.

I am using MyMail now and am much more happy with it.

Hope this helps save someone from wasting their time like I did.

Ran into a slew of issues - none of them essentially had anything to do with the program itself. Had it working with both SMTP and phpmail - Support was/is great. The program does what it says - highly recommend it.

To clear up any confusion you cannot send emails from front end. I mistakenly thought this was the case from this as part of feature list:

Frontend users able to send emails to your mailing lists (admin selectable)

Couldn't actually get the component to send emails at all so for me was a waste of time... like many of these extensions unfortunately it is just easier and cheaper to move on to the next one rather than spend hours trying to configure or wait for support... I paid for pro version.

Couldn't recommend it.

To clear up any confusion:
"Frontend users able to send emails to your mailing lists (admin selectable)"
means you may assign an email address to each one of your Mailing Lists/Newsletters, and your registered users may send emails to this addresses from the frontend.

Finally an excellent newsletter add-on for Joomla. Handles multiple lists, HTM, integrates with Joomle users and has a very intuitive and simple front-end.

Excellent support, all my issues are permanently fixed after prompt response from author.

I have had this product installed based on its claims. I believe once the problems are ironed out and the mailing lists are made easier to move around, this will be a first class product. I downloaded the free version and it worked beautifully. Purchased the commercial version nad ran into problems. The manual is a little ambiguous. I hope I can have the problems sorted as this is exactly what I need. Keep trying!

I downloaded the Ultimate Mailer 2.6 (Commercial version) just last night and installed it that evening. I tried to get it to work but I had problems with IonCube being installed on my host server. The following morning 2.7 was released that REMOVED the Ioncube dependency, what a relief. I installed it with no problems but I could not get the mailer to e-mail out. I contacted the support department and they helped me solve my problem within a couple of hours without the use of installing Ioncube. The Mailer is doing exactly what I wanted in a Mailing component. No problems so far.
I have never been so surprised how fast and helpful the support department was. Two thumbs up for the AXXIS support department. Keep up the great support a novice like me needs it.

Ok Community Builder doesn't seem to have a newsletter module (cb_mailer didn't do it for me!). ACAjoom was excellent, but I got fed up with trying to configure it, especially customizing html without their sponsor or unsubscribe from this list links, it’s pretty heavy weight if all you want to do is send your membership an email! Doesn’t synchronize with community builder data that well, you can have one user listed in CB for example, but might they might have unsubscribed in your mailer list, difficult to manage I reckon. Useful if you need separate lists, but all I want to do is send my members a letter. Basically ACAjoom felt bloated for my needs.

So I tired Ultimate Mailer. I can send emails to my membership, or to my administrators, or to one person at a time, or to a whole group with a couple of names excluded if I need to and I don’t need to run separate membership/newsletter databases... You just sync up your lists before you send. Lovely.

This module works for me, free one is perfect if you don't need .html, pro one is cheap enough if you need to send a pretty newsletter.

Thanks guys, I can go to bed now. : ]

The paid FULL version: not automatically downloadable after payment until I send a letter to the author.
Acajoom can: after creating multiple 'lists', select each individual individually and say which list that individual is on, obviously it is a pain if you have several lists with a lot of users
Ultimate Mailing lists: you can either add everyone and then delete the person(s) you dont want, which, by the way is ordered alphabetically by 'email', not the name, and there is no selection to align via name, or you can add people via a csv like email list.

Apart from that, the execution on mailing versatile but not dummy friendly. I guess the paid version has some advantages over acajoom, but it needs ion cube which could be another pain for some people.

Thank you for your suggestions! We have added all the features you discussed in the latest 2.5 commercial version. We also added a "Search" feature, in order to easilly find the contact(s) you want anytime! As for Ioncube, it shouldn't be considered an obstacle, as most hosts support it, and if not, installing it is a piece of cake, even for the beginner joomla-admin.
