I'm trying to build a membership website where I offer free ebooks to get people to signup so I can send them a newsletter.
I need a extension what will auto subscribe a user to a newsletter then he signs up and delete him when he deletes him selves.

I hope ccNewsletter will do this someday...

I send several simple text based newsletter each year and was using Letterman until Joomla was updated. I found this extension fairly easy to use. Here is what I like:
1. Easy to use
2. Can send test newsletter
3. Joomla 1.5.x native
4. Free
5. Easy synchronization with user list.

Here are a few weaknesses:
1. Links sometimes do not work
2. No way to validate email sddresses
3. Could use s few templates for formatting

This is the best newsletter component I have found thus far.

Thnx to the developper first of all, it is the only one delivering mails to the INBOX, i tried lot of componens and software but really it is the only one. my only issue with it that i have a list with 500 emails but when i start sending it stops before 100 and gives me 500 Internal Error (...). can anyone help me on this ?
Thnx

Please try 1.0.5, which has a modified and changed sending process.

It's billed as "hack-free Virtuemart 1.1 integration" but requires two files hacking in order to get it working with VM. Works OK but a bit basic and clunky in places.
Owner's reply

Correct, missed to modify that on all sites. VM team was not developing that fast, so our improvements to ccNewsletter integration would take a long time to be added to VM.

So we decided to create a hack again, and no longer use the "hack-free integration" that is present in Virtuemart.

Despite this is a stable version it's still full of bugs..

I waste 2 days, trying to get some links work..

Hi! You are actually right. There are many known issues in 1.0.4. So I have updated the JED listing to reflect this. We are now working on 1.0.5 and 1.0.6, I hope most issues will be fixed in those versions.

I've installed the CCNewsletter and it's simple and nice features to use. But is there any handling of bounced email and allows the admin to delist the subscriber ?
bysmg on October 2, 2009
I like this newsletter program. Simple, straightforward and administration is easy. BUT, it lacks a way to show archives and a link for viewing in case it can't be viewed as a newsletter. I don't care about multiple mailing lists, but archiving and viewability is a must.

This extension is really nice, simple, lean and does the job. The only downfall at the moment is that the automatic unsubscribe link doesn't work (because SEF or perhaps JCE..?).

But I at the moment I have managed to work around this downfall by not putting the automatic unsubcribe link on the newsletter, but providing a link to unsubsribe form on the site. So this is not invincible problem. But hopefully, this issue has been worked on for the next release..?

This isn't the best option I could think of. For starters, it requires that users submit their name in addition to email addresses, and there's no preference to control this validation requirement. Why?
very simple straightforward Newsletter Component I ever found. It's work PERFECTLY! Thank you! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED TO ALL JOOMLA! USERS!!

I'm looking at extensions normally from a totally different perspective. I don't care about fancy icons or marketing talk. I care about lean and consistent code and that an extension does not use hidden features.

ccNewsletter is a very positive example for such a code. The Joomla 1.5 framework is used nicely and the extension supports the MVC model in all aspects.

Great job - thx

I tried the extension and was pleased with it for the most part. All but one thing really work very well.

My attempt to add custom table backgrounds proved a complete fail. I was completely unable to do so.
Looking through the support section of their website it appeared to me that the support individuals really didn't offer just a whole lot of help to people.
It looked like most more experienced users attempted to help each other out but for my particular problem - to no avail.

As a base extension, if you don't plan on having a custom header and footer for your newsletter, then this is a great component.

But tables are wacky to alter and it won't save backgrounds. Oh well.
Owner's reply

Hi

The background and table issue you encountered have to do with the WYSIWYG editor used. Writing a newsletter directly in HTML and CSS will give you most control, but if you want to use a WYSIWYG editor, please make sure you have configured it to work with newsletters. In other words: URLs to absolute etc. Please contact me if you still cant get this to work.

And as stated in the manual: ccNewsletter is given as a as-is-where-is extension. Support via the forum is for users to help each other and we only give support when time is available.

Kind regards
David-Andrew

It worked and was easy. Maybe in the future a template feature could be added and some more tags that can be placed in emails besides name and the unsubscribe url. Love it.

This component has saved me so much time and anguish! It's fantastic. I had migrated over from another newsletter system which was put together with sticky tape - CCNewsletter is solid and functional. I was able to import all my contacts from my previous newsletter system like a breeze! Not to mention their friendly and helpful support!
A very good newsletter Extension which I was exactly looking for. The module works fine to add new subscribers. But if there is an option to redirect the page to our own 'Thank you' message page after subscription, on module, instead of the default component thank you page, it will become an awesome extension.
