FEATURES
* Create new user groups.
* Place users in more than one group.
* Control add and edit permissions on a per category basis for users in one or more groups.
* Control publishing rights, modification of author, access level and parameters as a whole.
* Configurable module-based control panels (less scary than the Administrator Articles Manager).
* Allows for public or registered user article submission.
* Fully customisable output using Joomla's flexible layout override system.
REQUIREMENTS
* JXtended Libraries plugin (an extended developer framework for Joomla).
* JXtended Control component (giving you the ability to add new user groups and control permissions).
* Joomla 1.5.7+
* PHP 5+
Optionally, installing the JXtended WYSIWYG editor will allow you to create article templates. Please note that registration is required to download the JXtended extensions. You must install the JXtended Libraries plugin and JXtended Control component before you install Content Manager.
This extensions requires a medium to advanced working knowledge of Joomla to configure and use to its maximum potential. Please familiarise youself with all instructions first.
NOTE TO PROSPECTIVE USERS: PLEASE READ THE INSTRUCTIONS ON THE SITE FULLY BEFORE INSTALLING.
I'm attached to J!1.5 and this fits perfect for a historical demand: allow registered users to submits new articles to certain categories... and is quite simple once you over-read the instructions, just creating some access rules and instantiating the mod_contentmanager_categories (and changing the mod_contentmanager_categories.xml file to solve the mentioned issue with limit=5).
But currently, with J!1.6RC1 already launched, it looks that there will be no more upgrades or support for this nice extension...

Hi,
Been testing the component and so far so good! Thanks for this :)
its exactly what i needed for my client's website.
only thing missing is the 'Image' button below the text fiels. Only the 'Pagebreak' button is there...
Do you have any suggestions on how to add this?
Thanks!

I've been using Content Manager for almost a year now and it has really solved the most important problem a had: managing user groups and content production.
Nevertheless, it's been some time now since it came to light and some shortcomings became noticable as other components and plugins evolved.
I've been having some trouble making JCEs 1.5.7.4 editor to work again and Docman's 1.5.7 Doclink fails. These problems emerged recently but I think it would be unfair to blame only the newcomers. Things evolve, change and new problems arise, this is part of the game. As Joomla 1.6 is on his way, I don't think Content Manager will improve.
Anyway, if you don't depend on JCE's editor or on Docman's Doclink, Content Manager is a good way to organize the crowd.

Not a bad component, definetly close to what I needed. I would love to find a forum (aside from the 2 dead ones I found) that could provide support for minor issues.
My category selector in the control panel only displays 5 categories.
It would also be cool to have the system email the admin when someone submits an article instead of finding a new one unpublished in the article manage.
All in all, good program.

I could not imagine that was possible...
This missing function was a headache for many of us.
It is true that one must understand what it is, and what is does (and how) but once you are over with it, it does what it promises.
For those, who are handling complex hierarchy of users, such as societies, unions, it is a must for Joomla.

Hi,
Content manager and the additional modules work realy great for me. Gives nice possibilities for front-end userbased overviews of content and easy creating content.
sugestion for next version of article module:
possibility to filter on published/not published next to user filters.
Will keep following the develpment!
