AutoArchive2

This plugin was originally developed as a 1.0.x mambot and released as GPL by TeachmeJoomla and has been modified in this version to run on 1.5.x native. Note that this version will not run on 1.0.x versions.
Major features:
1. Automatically archives, deletes, trashes, or purges expired content.
2. Can optionally reset the frontpage flag when moving to an archive.
3. Republish previously unpublished or expired articles and either set a user controlled next unpublished date X days in the future or set no unpublished date. This feature is tied to moving the article to a new section/category.
4. Move an article to the archive and at the same time move it to a new section/category.
5. Optionally determine if the plugin will work on unpublished articles and/or on uncategorized articles.
6. Filter by Section and/or Category

I am a little confused by your statement that "hour=1" does not work as there is no setting in AutoArchive2 to set hours for any purpose. Perhaps you can post on the support forum what you mean?
To test whether the database scan slowed down response time, I deliberately set the parameters to archive everything at once and to scan every time a user hit the site. (In this case, "everything" was perhaps 20 expired articles.) Not a very scientific test, but I couldn't detect any difference in the speed with which pages popped up. Perhaps performance would be an issue on a large site with lots of users and many expired articles -- I have no evidence either way -- but in our case it is a non-issue.
Thanks to the developer for a nice piece of work!
Thank you so much.
