You can publish your reports in three different ways:
- Download them in the Joomla Administrator backend
- Publish the SQL 2 Excel Module to one or more pages and let users download the spreadsheets through the module links
- Publish the Sections / Categories list view to a menu and let users browse your sections/categories to locate desired report(s)
Use SQL 2 Excel for all your reporting needs. Deliver dynamic reports to your users, export table data from Joomla, get usage statistics or just a quick data dump for debugging purpose etc.

I really like this extension and have deployed it on several websites. Unfortunately it seems that there is no version available for Joomla 1.7 which is what I'm upgrading all my sites to. It's even more unfortunate that their forums seem to have been hacked (as of Dec. 12, 2011) and I'm not really able to find any information on a possible development path. I've emailed them and hopefully I'll hear back from them soon. If anyone can suggest an alternative, I would greatly appreciate it. I only need the download report function.
Awesome tool that did exactly what I needed. Extra points for creating the module, which makes it super easy for my not so computer savvy clients to create an excel spreadsheet from the database. One click and they can download the latest spreadsheet. They are very happy and so am I. The pro version looks like it is definitely worth it as well, lots of nice extra features in it.

We have a client that I've written some very extensive custom database components for and they've come back asking for reporting and exports of course.
I wrote three fairly large exports and then they asked for another, so before I dug in and started writing code I figured I'd dig around to see what was here.
This component is perfect! build your query, set up some worksheets and then combine it into a downloadable workbook .. done!
The only gripe I have is that I want to be able to remove access from the front-end entirely, this way there's no chance of accidentally opening a workbook up to the public accidentally.
A setting to just disable front-end access would do it. I'm aware I can keep the workbook unpublished as a work-around.

For my aeroclub website I needed an extension that offers an excel export (or compatibel format) of all registered users within CB. Thanks to this extension the board members of our flying club are now able to view and download the complete up to date database including only the most relevant tables! Plus it was easy to install! Great five star tool!

If you're a bit rusty on MySQL queries I would suggest constructing them and pasting them into phpMyAdmin which gives somewhat more constructive feedback than the free version (you just get a data error when you try to download the spreadsheet).
I'll definitely be looking into the Pro version for the simple fact that it allows scheduled emails of the spreadsheets, which really reduces the amount of effort on the part of my clients having to download files every month!

I started with the standard and quickly upgraded. Both work great but for the price an upgrade is well worth the additional features.
Needed a soulution for an export of new users from Community Builder. Every email with issues (some his, mostly mine) was handled promptly, friendly and included information and suggestions well beyond my problem. He and his products will be around for a long time.

Joomla core components as well as many available 1.5 extensions are missing one key feature = export. SQL2Excel fills the gap, as you can define your own queries and export any data you would like from your Joomla database.

SQL 2 Excel Pro comes with a cPanel module which provides easy access to your favorite reports in the Joomla backend.
