I know I am not writing something that hasn't been written already but I feel the need to say that the extension is really excellent and powerful. Also the price is quite low for what it does. All you need is a little knowledge of MySQL.
Moreover, the support in their SQL 2 Excel Pro forum is excellent.
What more do you need?
P.S. I will have to agree though that if the documentation was a little better organized for us laymen, it would be a top-5 Joomla extension.

I didn't know what to expect for such a low price, but the reviews were excellent and for a very good reason. I registered only so I could tell you how wonderful this application is. The documentation needs a little more organization, but there's little you can't do with this gem. Only one piece of advice, stay away from the plugin. You don't really need it and the module is so powerful, you're better off redesigning your site around it.

With this component I was able to realize many things, which I couln't have done without it.
I hadn't have any problems yet (using it on 4 sites), but I guess the support is also good (Mat answers nearly all comments on his site).

Once you use this extension, you realise all the things you can use it for - so much database information can be exported into e.g. spreadsheet and then graphs,reports, etc. can be created there after. i am using SQL2Excel Pro to amongst other export JS users with custom profile fields!

If you need to produce reports from your website's database, this is the tool. It is powerful, flexible and solid.

With the combination of this and Fabrik my productivity has doubled. This extension allows me to create reports in minutes, it even has an sql checker so I don't even have to go into phpmyadmin. Just create complete reports with mysql and send a dynamic spreadsheet to my clients. It updates whenever they click refresh in excel...they don't even have to go anywhere else! And it all works over ssl WOW!!!!
I had almost given up on XLS exports of my user list and DocMan logs - until I came across SQL2Excel Pro. Within hours I had installed the component and imported a user worksheet and a Docman worksheet templates. The reports were close to what I needed but I wanted to add some fields from other tables (and I don't know SQL very well). I emailed support and Mats replied with exactly the SQL queries I was looking for. I'm very impressed with the component and with the service! The only recommendation I would make to Joomla-R-Us is to raise the price :-)
Joomla itself and many extensions accumulate useful information that usually cannot be presented to a site visitor because of the lack of a reliable, well supported tool to analyse and present the results. SQL 2 Excel Pro solves this issue in every respect - it is feature rich, well supported and flexible enough to allow good data presentation.
We had a requirement to present data from multiple tables to site visitors in a real-time environment (what are my bookings looking like right now!). After downloading SQL 2 Excel Pro and taking some time to undertsand how it worked, we had the data presented on our site within 4 hours.
Incidentally, a good understanding of SQL would certainly be a plus but if you know enough about Access, you can use that to generate SQL statements which can then be tweaked and pasted into the SQL 2 Excel component.

I needed a tool to get a complex report out of SQL and into Excel. I download this just to try and found that not only did it do what I needed in exporting to Excel, scheduling helped me in several other places and well....
The support was awesome! I was a bit lost trying to build my SQL queries and Mats walked me through it completely.

This product is pretty handy as it is. Add to that an impressive support structure and you've got a real good solution that is worth paying the small price that's asked for it. Save yourself some time...download this now if you're looking for an easy way to get data to your users without having to provide access straight to the database. And fear not if you run in to problems...ask for help and you'll get it fast!

Seriously, the Pro version lets you gather data from more than one (the Joomla!) database, which is HUGE, and there is a Scheduler for doing automatic report (XLS) generation and email, and you can put formulas into the generated sheets.
Get it before they wise up and raise the price!
