jsmallfib PluginLanguage

jsmallfib, a native 1.5 Joomla! plugin extension, allows a normal Joomla! article to include a simple but effective file browser/manager. Depending on access levels, users can read or upload files, create folder trees, etc. The main repository can be set either within the Joomla! directory, or, for greater security, outside the web root. This plugin is ideal if you require simple light-weight file browsing/uploading/downloading functionality (to store and share documentation, for example, or to manage all your web files from the frontend), to be used within a normal article. Actions such as file uploads/downloads, and file/folder renaming, removing can optionally be logged. Permissions for accessing files and folders are set with the 'command' within a normal article text. It is possible to set different access levels for unregistered visitors or specific registered user groups, but also for specific registered users individually. All this is done with the command in the article text. Jsmallfib now ships with Danish, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish and Swedish translations in addition to English.

Latest changelog:

19 October 2009 - Version 1.0.34. Added Portuguese translation (special thanks to António Mendes)

15 October 2009 - Version 1.0.33. Important SECURITY FIX (special thanks to Ludovic De Luna for reporting the problem); this version also introduces a Danish translation by Thomas Sydenham and some new code by Marcos Ramirez to allow downloads beyond the 'memory_limit' PHP parameter. Marcos also provided an update to the Spanish translation (thank you Marcos!)

11 September 2009 - Version 1.0.32. Introduced a backend parameter to disable UTF-8 encoding when displaying file names (this fixes cases of wrong display of special characters such as accented letters); also introduced some minor fixes.

04 September 2009 - Version 1.0.31. Changes include a translation in Swedish by Erik Liljencrantz, who also provided new code to fix some bugs, to make extra checks on files and folders, and introduced a more user-friendly navigation system, with clickable folders (thanks, Erik!); also added functionality to allow jsmallfib to appear within Joomla! component EventList; this version has file date formats configurable from the back-end, and fixes problems when trying to download very large files.

16 July 2009 - Version 1.0.30 introduces a Dutch translation (special thanks to MW Projects).

02 July 2009 - Version 1.0.29 introduces a Spanish translation (special thanks to Tux Merlìn) and fixes a bug with group permission not read correctly depending on the order of the relevant command arguments.

Very simple and fully configurable access rights.
One problem creating or renaming folders but depending on folders autorization i think.
Good work!

Thanks for this great plugin ! Its very useful for me to add an upload area in my article.

I just like to suggest 2 more features for the future, if possible:
(1) Add separate rights for the "special user" as well (not only for public and registered)
(2) allow several upload areas in one article (maybe allow several [repository] tags inside the pluging or allow several {jsmallfib} tags in one article

If that will be the case, this is unbeatable for me !
Thanks again and keep it up ! Chris

This plugin is very useful if you want to set up your own file sharing system on a Joomla website. It is especially useful if you want to share documents that are too large to attach to an email message and/or when you do not want to use other file sharing services or an FTP site. Since it is a plugin, you can insert repositories directly in an article with a simple tag.

The graphic presentation is great and the plugin works out of the box. Really fantastic.

One of the best plugins we have seen!!! If we could give it 6 stars, we would.

Wow! Not only solved my front end file submission requirements - but does so much more!

Very easy to setup - while at the same time being flexible.

Other plug-ins of this type I have tried are so much more cumbersome to work with - and do not offer the same front-end management abilities.

I'm no computer master, and jsmall was working in minutes. The world needs more software like this.

Love this plugin. Easy to setup. Does exactly what I was wanting.

Feature request: I would like to see a progress bar for uploads in a future version.

EXACTLY what I was looking for... light-weight, took about 2 minutes to configure. I'm done.

Thanks
Enrico
A very nice extension, easy to install even for a complete novice. Excellent customer support, my stupid question was answered and the basic problem (the article-turned-into-file-browser must be shown in article layout view) solved within a few hours.
I just want to take this opportunity to thank the developer for being so responsive to all my feedback.

Its an extension with the potential to grow. Its basically an extension which fullfill the need to share extensive files. You do not need to define each files in the backend. Drop the files and folder in to the specific directory and it will appear in the front end. Most important is that it allow you to control who can see and who can download. I have requested the developers to add an additional option such that those who are allow to browse only should not be allowed to downloads.

I am waiting to see more of the updates and enhancement from this extension.

Thumbs up for all the updates.

Many thanks

Big thank you to the developer of this component.
Without doubt THE simplest to implement and no css hacking required whatsoever, it looks the part straight out of the box.

If you're looking for front-end file management for publishers, with 1 minute setup and implementation, then this is perfect for you.

Good job fella!

Wish I could give it more stars.
This extension comes as easy as it should be for "plug and play" use. It provides the basic features you need with no load of confusing extras. I like it!

Users should keep in mind that the uploaded files can be accessed if you know (or guess) the path and filename, so I suggest to use htaccess protection.

Most of the file management extensions are overkill for what I wanted to achieve which was to allow a user to update an image gallery (sig) from the frontend. This plugin is ideal for this use and even better can be restricted to the user in question. It took a while to get set up because it needs php5 and at first I got lots of errors but once I had changed the php version it worked perfectly.
An excellent and straightforward plugin that is simple to use and configure.
Great extension! Simple, easy to configure and use. Great looking. For now I didn't noticed any bugs. In 5 minutes you have nice, simple, functional and easy-to-use repository tool.

This is a very useful extension which is very flexible and easy to use!

I downloaded it soon after it was introduced into JED and needed some support.

The developer responded almost immediately and sent me an updated file .Very GOOD service.

This should be the plug in of choice for file downloads for Joomla !

I congratulate the developer on developing this excellent file download extension and am happy to give a donation to keep his work going !
