The Joomla! Extensions Directory ™

jsmallfib Plugin

JSmallfib, a native 1.5 and 1.6 to 3.0 Joomla! plugin extension, allows a normal Joomla! article to include a simple but effective file browser/manager.

Depending on access levels, users can read or upload files, create folders and more. The main repository can be set either within the Joomla! directory, or, for greater security, outside the web root.

This plugin is ideal if you require simple out-of-the-box file browsing/uploading/downloading functionality (to store and share documentation, for example, or to manage all your web files from the frontend), all within a normal article.

Actions such as file uploads/downloads, and file/folder renaming, removing can optionally be logged. Permissions for accessing files and folders are set with the 'command' within a normal article text.

It is possible to set different access levels for unregistered visitors or specific registered user groups, but also for specific registered users individually.

All this is done with the command in the article text. The same article can be made to generate different repositories depending on users or groups. Supports file archiving.

JSmallfib ships with Danish, Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish and Swedish translations.

You'll have this extension up and running in minutes. The set-up seemed a little odd, but then again, I'm pretty new to Joomla. If you need to offer file sharing on your site look no further.

Just installed and tested jsmallfib on 2 websites. Easy to use, rights management offers extended possibilities, much more than I need. Great Open Source Free plugin.
If you're searching for a file browser, do not hesitate to test this one first.

The simple way to provide users a download zone and file manager area. Possibility to fine tune rights, for groups, single users.

Brings a great service for our small club. Documents are always available.

works with J!3.2.1

This plugin is perfect for providing files with a minimum of work.
A tip for use with a responsive template: put any text (eg. fluid)in the field "MAIN DISPLAY WIDTH" on the look and feel tab. Since this value is not possible, the width will be 100%

I was looking for a tool, displaying pdf-files in different folders. Jsmallfib is perfect for what.
Two things, which would make it even more perfect:
1.) possibility to skip displaying the file extension
2.) possibility to change the navigation items.

This is the best solution for front end file management for front end editors. Very adjustable, powerful and usable. Great job!

I love this plugin. I searched for a while until I came across this. It is so simple and with features such as encrypted address for files and control for file and directory access, this is the plugin to use

It works as advertised, and works very well. Has excellent documentation. It provides a safe method for non specialists to up-load and maintain their set of directories. These can be sets of pdfs, image files for a gallery, and so on. In our community site we have many clubs and societies. This now saves the main admin people from having to do these chores as now each 'user' or 'group' have their own set of folders. Hugely helpful.

Very good. Up and running in a minute. Even the free version has for me enough features to be able to present files for download. I will consider going commercial to support the developer. Well done.

Good, very good but... not Excellent ! Why
For me, My Visitors can change the Template, so the with of the articles can change on the same website.
With jsmallfib, the width is only indicated in "px", not in "%".
What a pity!

Very good plugin, but not serves to joomla 3.0. Anybody know any plugin like this for joomla 3.0?

Light, simple but powerful. It allows registered users create/delete folders, upload/donnload files. Highly configurable.

Thanks for this great extension!!

Simply brilliant : anything needed to present a list of files to visitors and to tune accesses.

Many thanks for this excellent plugin.

Non-commercial version is fine - working in ten minutes or less and looks fine. It lacks more sophisticated styling options available in the commercial version, but the commercial download is corrupt, and there is no support from SmallErik. Warning: if you have trouble with this, the developers don't respond to their email.

Mike - You are right. There's been a serious problem over the Summer with files being corrupted on Smallerik's website. Please do accept my apologies.

I have now made all files (guides and plugins) available for download from a new 'All downloads' link on the main menu of the site.

This plug in has received rave reviews, and my review will be no exception. It's fantastic!
Despite the slightly whacky concept of adding a line in to an article, if you follow the instructions you won't go far wrong. Thanks again.

This is a great plugin. I signed up for an account here just to say so!

It was very easy to install and use.
You can set it up to allow users to browse a directory and its subdirectories, upload and download files, rename files and archive versions instead of overwriting them.
Everything from permissions to colors to can be configured, and defaults can be overridden for repositories in different articles. An article can even show each user their own directory (have not tested).

To top it off, there is detailed documentation!

It's perfect for a simple document repository (and can also handle images, though I haven't tried that yet).

Thanks so much!
