Joomla Magic Updater ComponentModule

Dear All,
Please update to the latest version. You don't need to uninstall the previous ones first. Just download and install the component on the previous one.

This component will update Joomla core from the official Joomla website to its final version with just a single click. The user can also provide a link for the update zip file. The component will fetch the file either from Joomla server or from the link the user has provided. The zip file will be extracted on the current joomla installation and will upgrade it to the final version. The new version 1.1 will run perfectly on servers that don't have mod_curl enabled too. Some issues with the mod_curl is fixed. In version 1.2 an icon will be added to Joomla Admin CPanel and whenever the admin goes to that page, the components checks the latest version from joomla official website and tells him if it is necessary to update or not and he can simply go to the component page by clicking that icon. In version 1.2.1 the problem with mod_curl on websites running php 4 is solved. In version 1.2.2 the favicon.ico will remain intact. In version 1.3.0 the component will update the joomla core using the complete stable file or just the patch file based on the current version. Thanks to Michel de Joode for his idea and support. In version 1.3.1 the bug that the component wouldn't have worked on some windows servers is fixed. Thanks to Pat Cahill for his idea. In version 1.3.2 the component will work with safe mode on ad also if open_basedir is set and it will report more on completion or problem. In version 1.3.3 the component will show the list of extracted files upon completion. In version 1.4.0 the problem for not overwriting some files are fixed. It will show the error message upon facing any. In version 2.0.0 which is the commercial version, the component will update joomla based sites automatically after first user visit. Users can also save their custom urls to use to update joomla core.

...Just downloaded 1.5.4 for free, installed and updated my core Joomla package with no problems. Would definitely recommend! Thanks to the developer ;-)
Hello,
For all of you who are considering this product, first of all know that it does work very well. With little required from the user and a painless update process - they've done good work here.

Some of the recent 'hoopla' about this extension is due to the initial release being both FREE and fully laden with features,.. then, to many peoples dismay, those features were stripped in v1.5, while it was still 'FREE' it was what many would call a bait-and-switch. They also have v2.0 with basically has all the features of the prev. v1.4, but you have to pay for it.

Kinda on the sly, if you ask me. So, I decided to install v1.5 to see what it was about. It's basic, all options are disabled except ability to update from the full, current joomla version. Still not bad for free. But, if you want all the other features, and since this is GPL and freely distributed, you can check out this post on Joomla's forum (http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=355077) and get ALL the prev. functionality.... still for free.

Cheers

When we released software as a free software to serve Joomla community , we realised supporting that need at least one full time technical person to answer support questions .

We decided to accept donates and after 6 months we received $10 donation after more than 10000 free downloads and 1200 support request emails! (some times asking us to go and see what is their problem with their hosting server PHP settings!)

So we could just ignore support requests and even not bother ourselves and this is not defined in our organization's culture . We can't just ignore the client, Whether paid or free .

We decided to just set a price to support software and could answer questions and we didn't look into benefit for this software.

We feel some times it's good to pay for GPL software. This is meaning of support GPL concept and GPL means freedom and it's good to pay for freedom and support it.

Now our paid clients are happy because most of them they think it was worth to pay . At least some one is COMMITED to support them if they faced problem and keep software up to date .

We think also it's not fair to rate low for commercial component just because it's not free any more!

Very good component. A must have.
But version 1.4 seems better for me, because less restriction use.

Updating your Joomla to the most recent version, it's a job that you'll love to hate.

Fortunately, I found this extension. Makes it nice and easy.

Have noticed that once the site is updated, a blank screen appears in the admin panel. Refreshing usually does the trick.

Thanks for a making and sharing this time saver.
I'm rather disappointed that the new version doesn't do more than 1.4 did and I don't see it as a much needed add. I removed 1.5 and reinstalled my copy of 1.4. The reason? The window that pops up to say the system is updating never stops. I loved the system before this new version AND I could install it on any site.

If I have to pay for software installation, then I'll go with a solution that provides more than just one application for close to the same fee.

Next time...

Thanks for letting us know about this issue .(We been prefer to receive it by email and giving us chance to solve it before publish a bad review)
Now we released version 3.0.1 and that version have a lot of newer features and that issue solved as well.

Simply Perfect, does the job well and perfectly every time!!!

Don't be caught without this extension.
This is a must have for all joomla users.

It's never been simple to update your joomla cms! However, I feel restricted with the licenses. I think Realtyna should introduce an unlimited license for people who have more than 5 domains (at a reasonable cost of course) so it's easier for people to commit.

other than that - no quarrels! I've added it as a favourite and so should you!
