More usage details for jQuery no conflict mode are available at http://docs.jquery.com/Using_jQuery_with_Other_Libraries
This plugin does the following
- installs minified jQuery library file from google CDN, version 1.4.2
- supports future versions, and wildcard version numbers, see google ajax libs api
- executes the noConflict() method after jQuery has loaded
- provides instructions on how to use jQuery safely with mootools
- jQuery UI integration + many UI templates (CDN as mentioned above)
- a place to add custom code into the plugin
- the use of a application variable to flag if jQuery has been loaded using JFactory::getApplication()->set('jquery_loaded', true)
Fixed my Wibiya problems with Mootools
I recently upgraded to Firefox 3. I have RokStories, RokNewsPager and RokAjaxSearch running on my site. I also have JomSocial, jquery and mootools installed. All of a sudden, AJAX powered modules stopped working, though they still worked in IE. Looked all over D.O.D.'s creation to find a solution. Stumbled on this little extension and everything's working beautifully again! Thanks! I really appreciate it!
As implementing jQuery within SOBI directory, I have had terrible problems with mootools and jquery and no official conflict solution or plugin solved the problem. After getting desperate,I have found this tiny great plug-in, installed and immediately had my smile back: Everything was working just fine!
A tip for the developer - The plug-in will currently makes some mootools plug-ins stop working, as using jQuery.noConflict() requires loading mootools FIRST. I have customized the plugin to force mootools loading before jQuery and it works perfectly!
Thanks for a great plug-in!!

This solved many problems with loading my own jQuery thru my templates. The templates all require a jQuery plugin for Holy grail (equalizing various div heights).
I've tried other J! plugins that load jQuery but couldn't figure out how not to have them clash with mootools, how to get the correct (minified) jQuery and how not to have them clash with my Holy grail.
SC jQuery solved all my problems and is now part of my default setup. In fact it's the very first thing I install after core Joomla.
Thanks for this simple plugin.

This extension is excellent! I had a problem using the Wibiya bar and YooAccordion and this plugin fixed the problem right after install it.
Thank you very much for this!

I love the freedom offered by the GPL to enable us to take Joomla! and do with it that which we wish. Unfortunately, cashing that freedom in to check out other JS frameworks can be tricky. We can also create problems for users if we don't consider the big picture beyond "our extensions."
I'm recommending SC jQuery to others who don't want to sort through the document header array, reload Mootools after jQuery, or unload Mootools, etc., and figure out how to get the no conflict going. This plugin does it - and in doing so, safely opens up a whole world of possibilities for cool UX action on Joomla! sites.
Thanks Phil!

After a lot of reading to try and get JQuery running nicely with Joomla ( and mootools.. ho hum) just to get slimbox 2 working, I came across this. I have not tested extensively, or looked to hard at all the implications, but after trawling the forums and finding a lot of stuff I didn't really understand how to implement manually (Im a JS hack at best) this got me up and running in 5 min.
Install, add the slimbox JS to my template and I was away.
Will test it with other JQuery stuff I have on non-joomla sites, but so far so good.
Thanks for saving me having to become a JS coder ( for now :)
