It should be installed via the plugin installer and enabled.
This is an updated version of the Xajax Mambot which was available for Joomla 1.0
Phil Taylor initially provided this mambot to ease 3PD development
Updated for UHP2 on Joomla 1.5 by John Phillips of Ravenswood IT Services, but should work with any Xajax enabled component
