This looks like an excellent component and just what I'm looking for. However, it does not appear to like J1.5.15, I keep getting XML Parsing Error at 55:32. Error 4: not well-formed (invalid token) and the pages goes blank.

Guess I'll have to wait for v. 2.8.

Hope to have a Native version for J! 1.5, I will pay for it if I have to, I know there is a need to bring bread to the table...

This is a full featured component. It works great and has an easy to use back-end interface.

I am especially impressed by the screenshot that is automatically generated for of each link as well as the Google rating that displays in the pop-up description window.

The only bug that I found is that the alphabetical index does not display. However, given the strengths and stability of this component, this is a minor bug for me.

I am using Joomla 1.5 and bookmarks component works well enough for my needs, it was easy to install and I was able to get started very quickly... both things that are important to me.

I have two problems with the component that will probably get me to look for something else though.

1. The use of tables is making it very hard to get the layout exactly the way I want. Many elements are not given their own style, they are just lumped into the table and I have spent over a week trying to hunt them down in the code and apply style tags (which isn't always an easy thing to do). I could recode to get rid of the tables but that is more difficult and time consuming with this particular code.

2. The component does not have it's own stylesheet! This, in my opinion, is the hardest thing to either overcome or deal with. I tried various ways of providing a stylesheet but was eventually forced to create new styles in an existing stylesheet, which, in my case, causes it's own set of issues that I then have to deal with.

I am giving the component 4 stars because, while I have possibly irreconcilable issues with it, it is easy to get started, feature-rich (even if you're using Joomla 1.5), and does one heck of a bang-up job. No other bookmark component does as well as this one or comes as close to what I need.

This is a nice component, I think it just needs to be updated to more modern coding.

Really a top Joomla extension.

This component was exactly what I was looking for. I spent a couple hours figuring out how to work Bookmarks properly and now it works flawlessly. The parts of Bookmarks that I like the most is the rating system (5 stars), PageRank display, automatic thumbnail retrieval, automatic meta data retrieval, hits counter, and the ability to order the bookmarks by hits or ranking. While the module has issues, the component works wonderfully.

This component may have a lot of options, but trying to get it to not look like a jumble of text on a page is nearly impossible and renders this component unusable to be. Are there any other replacements for the weblinks out there? I can't find any, and I really need to have the functionality to assign child and parent categories.

The bookmark component is not released for Joomla 1.5, but I like it so much that I did try to instlal it anyway :-)

For the msot part it works just ine, but I did get some warning messages in frontend related to the file bookmark.snapshot.php where a non declared attribute was used. This is because an attribute $params has been used in the following way $params->urlkey without being clearly defined.

The solution that worked for me was to in the complete bookmark.snapshot.php file to replace "$params->" with "$". This means that $params->urlkey is changed to $urlkey instead. This makes the php code legal and it also workes. For the rest I have not experienced any problems with the component and I could easily transfer bookmarks stored in the bookmakrs component of Joomla 1.0.X as well.

Just thought I'd let this be known, but of course, I wouldn't mind if someone actually amde a proper 1.5 version of this too :-)

I'm using for all of my 'web links' pages now, but there are many more uses.

Getting a handle on the interface takes some time - but that's a good thing - as the options are extensive. Add images, text, 'tool tips', link thumbnail previews, and more!

Well-made, well-documented, well-done.

This module is great, if only I could understand it, or make it work. It is too complicated too configure, too complicated to use and too complicated in the final output. I don't want to waste huge amounts of time trying to figure out how to publish some links. Standard weblinks plus some images is what I am after, not this.

I've been using Bookmarks for more than 6 months now.
I recommend it to everybody. Beautiful extension!!

Do not install this on a live site. If you do and you don't like it, the uninstall file is not written correctly and your site will cease to work. The solution is to re-install the component and live with it.

I can't believe I JUST discovered Bookmarks. It's great, easy to figure out, and crammed with features. It's now one of my favorite components. Way to go!

I went looking for a way to include longer descriptions of my links (because I do like to chatter about the things I like...), and found this extension. Not only does it let me say as much as I want about each of my bookmarks, it also lets me put them in as many categories as I'd like. I did want to change the default navigation options, but didn't have much trouble finding those options in the code and tweaking them to my satisfaction. Very, very happy with this component.

I am using this component on my website,it works well. I really like the feature of generating a quicksnap image for the sites.

But it seems the author has stopped developing for a long time. This component still has some disadvantage need to be improved. I hope the author will pick up this project soon.

Was looking for a quick tool to save my bookmarks on my own site, well, found what i was looking for. Up and running in minutes, took some time to figure options out (without rtfm), but very pleased with this com & mod.
