Sobi2 - Directory Component with Content Construction Support for Joomla!

Already in 2006, as no one talks about CCK for the content management system Joomla! Sigsiu.NET developed a component for Joomla! which has content construction support. Designed as a business directory (online business index) Sobi2 could already be used for every kind of directory. Therefore everything what the operator of a website wants to get listed in a directory like companies, clubs, persons, shops or products can be created.

Content Construction using Sobi2 Fields Manager

All fields which are necessary for your directory can be created easily using the Fields Manager. There are several field types to choose from like text input fields, text areas (w/o WYSIWYG editor), check boxes, check box groups, select lists (drop down lists), simple text fields or a calendar field.

For text inputs fields there are additional settings available. You can define a text input field to be used for an URL address, an email address, a link to an image or to a video/audio file. According to this setting the entered data will be shown in the views with the necessary syntactical format.

During installation, Sobi2 creates by default several custom fields for a business directory. You can easily extend them by any number of your own fields. Or you can simply delete these standard fields and create your own fields.

Sobi2 language packages are available for 35 languages!

I like Sobi2 a lot, but I wish it would work for me. After you add some categories, save, and go on to another config page, when you go back to the categories page, the category tree disappears. I have been to the support site, posted a few times. I even tried the new special download fixes that worked for other people. No luck. One of the problems for other users was not having INNODB support on their servers. I checked and I have it. I wish I could get this to work in the worse way.

Sorry, guess I will have to fork out the money for Mosets Tree.

Thank you,

Firstly, congratulations on the development of an excellent and highly configurable component.

I offer these comments by way of positive feedback and suggestions (Re: ver 2 beta):

1. I love the ability to make fields a "paid" facility.
2. However, I would like to suggest that it would be REALLY nice if also possible to have a "paid for" means for a "Premium" listing. Such a listing entry might automatically include ALL the other "pay for" fields. A sort of one price for "the lot".
- The point here is that, a separate CSS class could be applied and such listings, sort to TOP of list and carry a highlighted background.
3. PayPal subscriptions support for recurring payments.
4. Ideally (if possible), the genrated PayPal button needs to be encrypted... too many stupid people about taking on Joomla as a blood sport :)

Thanks again,
Chris
