JoomD is a content construction kit, directory solution for Joomla and provides the following straightforward features:

JoomD's Plugin Manager has some very interesting plugins and continuously developing new ones:
* Rate and Review plugin
Manages all the aspects of Ratings and Reviews for each Directory Type and Categories.
* Newsletter plugin
Create newsletters for each directory type and categories. Manage subscribers for each directory. Allow subscriber to subscribe to multiple newsletters using the Newsletter module.
* Import Export app
Import / Export your categories, fields, entries to and from JoomD using simple CSV files.
* Subscription and Package Manager
Create your packages, define the limit of entries one can submit, set a time period and voila! Users will subscribe to your packages and make payment through Paypal.
* Loads of configuration settings make it more and more flexible.
What I can talk about is this..it's easy to install, the tutorials are easy to understand, it does not only what I wanted it to do, but so much more,(you learn this in the tutorial stuff) AND it's FREE.
They get 5 stars in a beginners book and even a FB like!
It is very feature rich for a freebe, so I really do recommend it.
But there is no documentation. Absolutely none. It's rubbish. I contacted them and they suggested looking at a lame video which tells you absolutely nothing about how to configure and set up the component.
And then they couldn't answer a few simple questions I posted on the forum about setting it up.
Almost good but in the end due to a ridiculous lack of documentation, it's a waste of time.
I can say that the component runs great, is possibly a little confusing to begin with but browse how the default types work and you'll be flying in no time at all.
Only wishlist for this fine Component is documentaion in PDF/HTML/DOC format.

We are pushing up the ante to release the PDf version of our docs.
As of now, you can always visit our Youtube channel for instructional videos on JoomD.
The videos do come with their own limitations and so like you said, we will have a PDF version of the documentation very soon.

I would really have given an excellent rate for the component itself, but for the poor (not existing) documentation there will be one star off :-(
Specially for "non-nerds" like me its hard to get it by myself....

Hi mate. Thanks for your review. JoomD is compatible with Joomla 1.5, 1.7 and 2.5. We have one single installer for all the versions. Yes, you were right when you wrote about this not being displayed on our website. But we have updated our webpage and mentioned the component's compatibility with the latest versions including Joomla 1.7 and 2.5.
We will continue to support JoomD for the years to come. We want it the best CCK out there for Joomla!
My only complaint with it (and it's not really a complaint) is that you cannot add checkbox fields to the profile. I'm sure there's a way to hack it, but I wish that the extension included a checkbox field format as well. Hopefully the designers will include that feature when/if they update it or build a newer version.
Despite the lack of the checkbox feature, this is still the best directory extension I've ever seen. All the components work seamlessly together, and installation is a breeze! Great job!
So far I have been unable to find any documentation to set this up. It does "import" after a fashion however nothing is placed where intended and a whole bunch of strange new categories are created.
I created one category with fields to match the first line of the import file. ( this is normally used by anyone else as the field names )
This does not work. Their documentation offers no instruction on using the import and their forum is no on line to ask for help from the experts.
If anyone has ever found details on setting up to import please let me know !

CSV Import/Export feature is going to return to JoomD this summer. We are on with it and this time it is going to be way extensive. Stay tuned and continue using JoomD for easy content building.
