"FAQ is an initialism for "Frequently Asked Question(s)". The term refers to listed questions and answers, all supposed to be frequently asked in some context, and pertaining to a particular topic. Since the acronym originated in textual media, its pronunciation varies; "fak", "faks" and "F.A.Q." are commonly heard. Depending on usage, the term may refer specifically to a single frequently-asked question, or to an assembled list of many questions and their answers." Wikipedia

Let me start out by saying, I have never reviewed anything on JED, however, after my experience with mooFAQ and Douglas Machado (the creator/owner) of this wonderful extension, I felt compelled to write one.
I was looking for a good FAQ extension for our business website, however having tried numerous ones (including phil-taylors) they either suffered from too many bugs or were just not right for our requirement.
I came across mooFAQ and wanted to give it a try after seeing the demo but since my country is not yet supported through PayPal I sent Douglas an e-mail asking for alternative payment methods, he replied back with the extension attached and asked me to send him a mailed payment instead, trusting me on my word alone.
Am not writing this review only for his generosity and understanding towards my dilemma but also to say it once and for all, this is one of the few "must have" extensions that all businesses should have! period!
Conclusion: Excellent Extension from an Excellent Guy!
Thanks Douglas

I installed this plugin and found it had a bit of a display issue with IE8. I contacted Douglas and in a few days he had rewritten his plugin to fix this problem. For such a modestly priced plugin, the support is simply outstanding. I would not hesitate to buy any of his other plugins in the future. I feel confident that if there were troubles, he would take care of them. I am so pleased!

I use this component and I agree that it is very easy to install and to use. It runs beautifully and it is stable.
Normally, I don't like to pay for extensions (there is such a lot of well-done free things for JOOMLA), but this is well worth the little money!
But in addition to this, I want mention the perfect service Douglas will give you. I have jcomments running on my site, and MooFAQ did not support it. So I asked Douglas, if he could make MooFAQ run with jcomments. Within less than one day (!) MooFAQ was modified and I got a plugin for jcomments. Now MooFAQ runs perfectly with jcomments.
Conclusion: the component works fast and stable, service could not be better, and the guy is exemplary co-operative.

I tried a few slider plugins before trying MooFAQ. Some of them worked, but none of them well and were very difficult to set up. Then I decided to look up FAQ and I am so thankful I did. I tried some of the other free FAQ systems but none of them worked the way I needed them to. But MooFAQ is working very well for me.
I did run into a few problems with the component. So why would I give it an Excellent rating? The developer of the component was extremely helpful and found a workaround very quickly. Plus, he told me that he would work on a total fix before the end of the week.
He provides some of the best support I have seen with an extension from Joomla.
Is this component worth the money? Absolutely!

This is the best support I have ever received for any software product, bar none.
This extension works just as it should.

MooFAQ is a grwat extension. It brings a very intuitive approach to the faq sections for joomla sites. The faq questions are simply common joomla articles, no additional db tables and no separate component where you can do that. You simply set it up by modifying its menu item parameters.
Also the support is the best that I encountered so far for a joomla extension. My client asked for some additional modifications to be done, and the developer did that in practically no time. Outstanding!

I was using simple lists before I bought MooFaq. Allways trouble. MooFaq installed without problems. After the installation I copied my old simple lists content to MooFaq, but I should not have done that without cleaning up the old messy codes like div and table tags. The MooFaq developer recognized this immediatley and gave very, very, very good support. MooFaq looks great and works great in all browsers and it has a very nice price. Don't doubt, it works great!

The implementation of this component is very good.
I especially like the fact that it's based on articles which I can organize more easily than components.

It works. It is simple and straightforward even for a newcomer to Joomla, like me. The best $15 I have spent in a long time. Way to go.

Worked the first time. Once I realized that I needed to make a new category under one of my existing sections (or you can create a new section and category) then the rest was as simple as writing articles.
So first you create a category. Then you add a link to one of your menus like normal, choose MooFAQ, then the type of FAQ you want to create, name it and choose the category you want the FAQ under.
Then just create a new article for each of your Question/Answer pairs. The title of the article becomes the Question, the body of the article becomes the Answer. No author, mod date, creation date, etc. are added even if they are your default.
I've set up these type of FAQs before on websites using DynamicDrive's codes but took a lot a tweaking to get the size of the open pane the correct length. But with MooFAQ this is handled automatically. I really really like that!
Modifying the css is staight-forward. All-in-all I like it!

Excellent extension. I've checked out most, if not all, of the FAQ plugs here. Free FAQ was simple and decent, but not much flexibility and doesn't work with Joomla 1.5. That was my last legacy component, so I went looking for a replacement. I wish I had tried this one first. I wasted a lot of time with the freebies and didn't get the results I was looking for. Purchased this, and literally had my FAQ's up and running in 2 minutes. Had a few tweaks I wanted to do and got email response from the developer quickly and made the changes. Highly recommend.

This component is power punch! Simple to install and use. Looks great on my site and gives a better feel to my clients.
I did have a few questions, and as soon as I posted them in the MooFAQ forum, they were answered. Fast is not the word for it, I believe that this admin lives on the forum.... waiting for a guy like me to ask a question. I think he is using a stop-watch.... :)
Service is great and very friendly..... I will do more business with this company....

This component provides great functionality and the slick appearance provides an aesthetically pleasing solution to a site. If you need a faq on your site, this is worth the money
Support was great. I had one small issue and the developer responded to my post within minutes.

The extension is very nice, and with clean code!
I asked for a customization of the component, and the support I received was outstanding. Both thumbs up!

Works just as stated. Very easy to install. Looks great!!! THANK YOU!!! FYI: To order FAQ within a category in the same order you have set in the articles section, choose Primary Order = "Order" (I know, sounds obvious, but I kept trying to do this in the Category Order drop down box and, duh, it didn't work). So easy to configure: Each FAQ is a separate article. Place question in Article Title. Place answer in Article Text (above read more, if used).
I love the simplicity of this little great component. Every question/answer is a joomla content item stored within a certain section and category. Has single category layout an muliple category layout. Also great support. I asked the developer if it would be possible to use the joomla edit function from end and within a day he fixed that in a new version. So now I can also edit my FAQ from front end. He also added support for pdf, print and e-mail icons. Super!

I wanted a simple FAQ that could display several categories and use show/hide to reveal the details.
I have tried several alternatives none of which would do what I wanted, and many were too complicated requiring too many by the user clicks to reach useful results,
MooFAQ does exactly what I wanted. It did not require any complex tweaking to get it working. It is very easy and straight forward to set up and maximizes existing Joomla features (Articles & menus).
I had an issue with text flowing over the line width. This was due to the tool (Artisteer 2) that was used to create the Joomla template and not the fault of MOOFAQ – MooFAQ solved the problem for me – I’m still waiting for the template tool provider to issue a fix.
Great job Doug..

I've spent time using, trying or reviewing each and every FAQ in this section as of 4-27-09. Be it either sloppy programming, lack of support or FAQ's that didn't do what they indicated the only real choice is MooFAQ.
I accidentally paid twice, submitted a ticket about it and was immediately refunded the accidental extra order along with a personal message from the developer checking to see if everything was alright.
With Moo FAQ, the system works, the lights are on an someone is there to answer your questions and or concerns.
