"FAQ is an initialism for "Frequently Asked Question(s)". The term refers to listed questions and answers, all supposed to be frequently asked in some context, and pertaining to a particular topic. Since the acronym originated in textual media, its pronunciation varies; "fak", "faks" and "F.A.Q." are commonly heard. Depending on usage, the term may refer specifically to a single frequently-asked question, or to an assembled list of many questions and their answers." Wikipedia

I wanted a simple FAQ that could display several categories and use show/hide to reveal the details.

I have tried several alternatives none of which would do what I wanted, and many were too complicated requiring too many by the user clicks to reach useful results,

MooFAQ does exactly what I wanted. It did not require any complex tweaking to get it working. It is very easy and straight forward to set up and maximizes existing Joomla features (Articles & menus).

I had an issue with text flowing over the line width. This was due to the tool (Artisteer 2) that was used to create the Joomla template and not the fault of MOOFAQ – MooFAQ solved the problem for me – I’m still waiting for the template tool provider to issue a fix.

Great job Doug..

I've spent time using, trying or reviewing each and every FAQ in this section as of 4-27-09. Be it either sloppy programming, lack of support or FAQ's that didn't do what they indicated the only real choice is MooFAQ.

I accidentally paid twice, submitted a ticket about it and was immediately refunded the accidental extra order along with a personal message from the developer checking to see if everything was alright.

With Moo FAQ, the system works, the lights are on an someone is there to answer your questions and or concerns.

This extension does exactly what it says it does. I installed it in 3 minutes. I previously had created a category called "FAQs" and added several articles in that category. The article title is the Question and the answer is the article itself. When I chose my "FAQs" category in the MooFAQ parameters immediately I got a nice accordion effect with my FAQ articles. You can only publish one article category at a time, so if you want to separate your FAQs into different categories you must publish each category in a separate page. Since I wanted to publish several categories in the same page I requested this custom work to the developer. He did it from one day to the next and now I can publish several categories on the same page just like I wanted. Really good support.

Installed very easily, worked right out of the box. I did have a small problem in one browser - turned out it was a problem on my site. The developer was very responsive and helped me troubleshoot. The look and feel of the FAQ is smooth, sleek, uncluttered, and a definite asset to any site. Another nice thing is that you use your text editor to write the questions, so any style or format changes you can do in a typical article can go into your FAQ.

The only feature I don't see is the ability to have more than one category of FAQ without having another menu item. I only want to have 1 FAQ menu item, so I think I can only have one category, with no way to divide the FAQ into subjects. It would be cool if a future version was based on a Section rather than a Category list.

Thanks - good work on this!

I am developing a site that calls for a lot of FAQs - How does it work? Who are you? Why should I choose you?. . . It was tedious for any user to wade through the contents. I stumbled on MooFAQs and decided to give it a try. I downloaded it, installed it, and had it configured and running in less than 5 minutes. And, it did exactly what the demo demonstrates - refreshing to say the least.

It installed so quickly, that I had time on my hands to go tinkering with the code. I wasn't able to get what I wanted so I emailed the developer on a Friday afternoon that started a 3 day holiday. On Sunday, the developer was in touch apologizing for the delay and telling me what to do. You can't ask for better than that.

If you want a nice way to display your FAQs give this one a try.

First of all it looks really nice on the site. Easy for the visitor and will impress your client.

Importantly the developer is very dedicated and did a fix for me very quickly.

I am testing this and it is now working well so far. One problem I had/have is that it expects to be linked to the mod_mainmenu which is the Joomla! "top" menu. I have several menus made from mod_mainmenu and my sites primary menu is not the Joomla! "top" menu. So I have had to create a submenu (Link:URL) in the Joomla "top" menu, unpublish it, copy the URL and paste this into a submenu item on my sites primary menu and publish that. That seems to work and the e-mail works as well. If the designer has a comment or code change idea that would be welcome.

Very handy for other users to put their own questions into the system.

Needs a little more documentation but works wonderfully.

The "Answer not found? Ask a question here" is not documented at all. My users were submitting questions but I wasn't getting any notifications or eMails.

I fixed it by correcting the GLOBAL CONFIGURATION / MAIL / MAIL FROM email address to the address where you'd like notifications sent.

Hopefully a new release is being worked on where the user manually enter an eMail address where questions may be submitted.

I quite like this component. It's very easy to use by simply assigning a category of articles for your FAQ. I'm hoping there will be a Joomla! 1.5 version!! ;-)

I really like the way this component works, the nice mootools effects really spice up what is usually a boring question and answer section. I've come across a few bugs but this is a brand new component so I'm sure they will be fixed as they are minor. The only thing missing is the integration of something like EasyCaptcha for when someone submits a question (if you have that feature enabled) I recommend either EasyCaptcha or reCaptcha could possibly be integrated somehow too.. Overall though, a very good component, especially for being brand new!
