Whilst PaymentsPlus is a standalone installable component for Joomla, it does require to be plugged in a host component. PaymentsPlus collects payments for offline methods PayPal and 2Checkout.com. You can also manage free listings within the subscription system. PaymentsPlus currently only works with Mosets Tree, but could be adapted to other similar components due to it's open code structure.
All subscriptions can be easily edited, even those paid via PayPal or 2Checkout. Admin can override several publishing conditions and then optionally advise the subscriber of any change. Admin can also see a snapshot of the listing without leaving the PaymentsPlus console to help ensure the submitted content is suitable for the website.
PaymentsPlus also enables you to extend the listing functionality by creating multiple listing types, for example, you can have Free, Standard and Featured listings. From PaymentsPlus 2.15+ a single generic addlisting template for each host application and all the template variables are now stored in the database. Gone is the need to touch a single line of code with modifications or new additions of new listing types now being done via a simple form.
Once you have created your listing types you can add multiple subscription products and set rules for Price, Duration, Maximum listings per user and which listing type the subscription will bind to. Once again this is all managed by the database via a simple admin form. Effectively, using the model of Free, Standard and Featured listings you could create unlimited products to cater for just about any subscription configuration. Duration can be Days, Months or Years, Price can be anything from Free to whatever and Maximum Listings per user can be from 1 to unlimited, these settings are editable for each product. For example:
Product One - 3 Months Free Basic Listing, Maximum Listings per User = 1 at $0.00 each
Product Two - 12 Months Standard Listing, Maximum Listings per User = 5 at $99.00 each
Product Three - 2 Week Standard Listing Free Trial, Maximum Listings per User = 1 at $0.00 each
Product Four - 2 Year Featured Listing, Maximum Listings per User = Unlimited at $250.00 each
Product Five - 6 Month Featured Listing, Maximum Listings per User = 3 at $100.00 each
PaymentsPlus has a patch kits available for Mosets Tree from 2.15 to 2.19 using Joomla 1.5+ and 2.20 to 2.23 using Joomla 1.6 to 1.7
PaymentsPlus will maintain the Series 2 version for Joomla 1.5+ till at least January 2012. From today (September 2 2011) the 3.1 series will be for Joomla 1.7+ using Mtree 2.23

I have never bought any component that has that much documentation en support. Steve is always willing to help and has promopt replies to support questions or feature requests.
Asked for a feature request and offered to pay for it, Steve just did it free. Love it

I've been using Payments Plus for nearly 2 years and have to say this is one of the best supported components I seen or used. It's definitely not the easiest component to configure and get running if you have limited skills in MySql & Php but hey that's where the Platinum support option really paid off for me. In the end all the effort was more than worth it.
Most of the problems I encountered were just settings in Mtree and or PaymentsPlus and my lack of taking time to understand the concept of what was happening between the 2 components. When you're using this remember that Payments Plus plugs into Mtree adding the adding additional features as well as the payments system that Mtree lacks, so settings are critical between the 2 components.... get it right... it works - Simple!
Like the support, documentation and code comments are brilliant. If you ever need or want to do any further customisation yourself, Steve's added code to Mtree and the PaymentsPlus code is very well commented with explanations and start to finish code sections which all makes finding code things so easy. The manual even gives a list of the modified and added files for Mtree and their locations.
Managing my listing subscriptions also couldn't be easier, the PayPal listings are pretty much automatic and the Off Line paid listings are so easy to manage. We started with recurring subscriptions but later switched to the single purchase options because as Steve pointed out people just forget what they sign up and pay for. But its nice to know we can use either option.
I like many people don't like to give reviews but lately I've seen a number of posts on the PP forums from people who have taken up the lesser support options to save $$$ and then expect and even demand the one on one support only offered at the Platinum level, and this alone has prompted me to write this review. In some of the posts its quite obvious that the users don't have the skills needed to take up the cheaper options with lesser support.
I took out the Platinum member option for support and can say that it was worth every cent, over the last 2 years I've got more than my monies worth and Steve is always there when and if I needed help with each new release. I had and will have no hesitation in renewing my subscription for my platinum membership. To be honest I don't know how Steve does this for the price he even gives a discount on platinum renewals. The support I've received to date with the time given and spent by this developer in forum support and on server support at my site far exceeds what I've paid.

Enjoying the component... I have been messing around with a similar idea to a few years now, been looked for a turn key solution for MT (or even Sobi2) but never came across one (looked at taking an existing payment system and mucking-up the code - but that was just too much work). I think PP nailed it.
After installing the component, I found that it needed a tweak - posted the issue on the site's forums support page and there with a response quickly and with a clear simple solution. I am up and adding listings the next day.
I plan on using this component on my site and when future development call for this functionality. - james

I have researched payment options for Mosets Tree and recently selected PaymentsPlus. Steve has been very responsive and patient with my questions. He has provided sound technical advice and hasn't merely pointed me to Mosets, but has told me in detail how to resolve questions I was having that were primarily due to my lack of knowledge of Mosets. I wholeheartedly recommend PaymentsPlus and would say that the effort put forth in documentation and forum response is outstanding. There is a genuine concern that the component work correctly which is much appreciated.
This component gives me an essential ability to run part of my business and I can't thank the developer enough for creating this. It's easy to use and allows custom subscription pricing in such a practical manner. Excellent work!
I have been working on a listing site and the client didn't want to have to do anything to the site once it was done. Payments Plus allowed this to happen, people can sign up pay and do everything without my client having to activate listings or anything like this. I had a few hiccups with the program at first, but these guys were quick to respond to my issues and requests. If you are looking for a system for doing payments in conjunction with MTree, use this.
Sometimes I'm amazed at how long such seemingly obvious and common needs like a payment/subscription system can go without a solution...the wait is over! PaymentsPlus is the answer for enabling and streamlining an easy Paypal payment system for Mosets Tree directory.
The component with its modified Mtree files works very well with easy user and admin interfaces. Everything is customizable and even more so if you can dig into php code.
It took me a while to install and configure properly, but the developer worked with me and discovered some bugs that he fixed immediately; releasing an entirely new upgraded version of the component a week later.
I wouldn't recommend the average user to set this up, but then I wouldn't recommend they go anywhere near any sort of e-commerce system!
All in all, this component/hack combo does the trick and once setup, works so well that my not-so-web-savvy clients can manage their site subscriptions with ease.
I look forward to watching this component get better and better and hope that it helps as many people as I think are out there wondering why Mosets doesn't come with any payment system built-in!

Had some trouble but Steve was right there to help me with any problems program is now working and all the bugs are fixed, Great product if you use moset 2.09 then you need this addon from Steve
