OurSiteSolution Moolah

- This extension requires registration to download.
We designed Moolah to be as easy-to-use as possible. You only have to use a single screen to manage the entire system. Yet Moolah also offers all the features that typical and professional users would expect from an e-commerce system, such as variable-price tiers, promotional tools, reporting, resource cost structures, and tight integration with the Joomla system itself (2.5 baby!).
Using Moolah, you define parts of your website that are premium. Visitors can then buy access to that one particular resource, or buy a subscription. The Moolah accounting system gives you the tools you need to manage how users interact with your site.
Our vision for Moolah is to help people monetize their work. We want to give you the tools that you need to start making Moolah from your creative energy. If you're an entrepreneur or SME, we would like to suggest that you give Moolah a try. And if you have an idea how about how we can help you, let us know.
Just remember that Moolah is for selling subscriptions to your site so folks can create accounts and download files, and other things. If you want a normal store to sell tangible goods then try VirtueMart, another favorite extension of mine. Different things. In VirtueMart an address is required, but in Moolah it's in an optional profile.
I now see many clients on the web or by phone – its cheaper and more convenient than the old fashioned method of requiring all clients to come to my office. I’ve been using Moolah to accept payments, allow clients to purchase hours and download material. I’ve even been able to use the credit system to represent session hours.
I found installing and setting up Moolah relatively easy, though setting up the payment system was rather challenging. Admittedly, such systems are new to me and ideally the integration would be as simple everything else. However Moolah Technical Support was most helpful and I was able to sort things out.
I recommend Moolah to anyone who wants to use their website to promote their business, save time and become more efficient.
It's clear that Moolah is well thought out with making "moolah" in mind. Coupons and promotions have lots of options that u can use to give subscribers discounts or additional credits. I hope to see more payment options in the future.
If you are a blogger using Joomla and want to monetize your website, then you should give this component a try!
The Admin Panel is un-intuitive and missing features like payment processors. The ACL feature is broken. There is no clear way to link to a product from the menu manager.
This review was written January 18, 2012 and the version tested was Trial 1.1.4. As of this writing I think it should be classified as Beta or Release Candidate.
I can see the potential and hope they continue to develop this extension.
I think we were able to clarify some issues with this user via e-mail. Moolah is not an ACL component and does not sell products. You can sell memberships and subscriptions, and obviously process payments ( but not with the free trial version, sorry ).
@montano, some your feedback (via e-mail) was very useful and we are incorporating those ideas into our 1.2 release. We often see questions from prospective users via e-mail and our website, and I think contacting us earlier would have saved you some headaches. Anyways, good luck in the future.
Our site has been live a few years but was never monetised - now we have 100+ subscribers, and hopefully we can continue to grow. Regarding Moolah itself - so far the application seems very stable, and we have yet to experience any issues, although I suppose it is still early days.
Anyway, from what I have experienced I can thoroughly recommend this component.
I am using it slightly different than intended. I use the majority of the system with the exception of the triggers. Instead, a user can add events they want to register for to a cart and when they checkout, a payment processor debits the users account the number of events in cart. I am working with developer to get the API called correctly and he has been very supportive in developing the API to call Moolah.
Overall, an excellent extension and would recommend buying.
Setting this up and linking with Paypal took me 30 – 40 minutes.
There is a lot of stuff to learn and understand, and I'm just beginning to get to grips with them all. The developer's release updates quite often with new features that I hope to use soon.
This is a great component and is certainly worth trying.
number of webinars that the subscriber can watch is dictated by the plan they choose.
Moolah has proved to be a great tool to let us charge for the various subscriptions.
Overall, we are very happy with the Moolah software.
Thanks for the feedback!
If you are bsod77 that posted at http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?f=624&t=677383, and e-mailed us earlier in the week (Sean???), I suspect what may have happened is that you used your admin account to test Moolah. Since Moolah does manage group membership, it may have indeed assigned you to the Shops group, effectively locking you out of the admin panel. This is what Moolah does.
I strong recommend using a normal user account to test any software that manages site membership - not the admin account. Regardless, we have looked into this issue, and the new 1.1 version of Moolah does include a check that prohibits people from using an admin account to subscribe to plans.
We are glad to help resolve any problems relating to Moolah on our Discussion Boards, but..., we do not provide e-mail support sorry. We also ask people to provide a clear indication of their problems. Sending mail stating "Now i cannot access my admin section" doesn't really help us help you. Our support policy is pretty standard and can be found on our website as well.
Finally, reporting problems relating to Moolah is fine, but I think this review, if related to lockout problem, doesn't really help anyone. In the future, if you have a negative experience with a software package, a more descriptive analysis of the problem would be helpful to those us as well as to those reading your review.
We wish to better luck in the future, and we would also ask to you look at our new Moolah 1.1 release.
