Whether you need payments/donations via PayPal, or you require the user to register before they can download, you can restrict downloading until they have made the required action.
Once a user has paid/donated/registered they will then have access to the file(s).
You can even create an individual download page and add any other information or files they might require. Only users with authorised access will be able to download the files on offer.

* Contains a Joomla! editor button plugin allowing you to easily insert payment button tags into article content
* Contains a Joomla! Module for displaying your payment buttons anywhere else on your site
* Uses PayPal for purchases/donations
* Can be used to restrict file downloads to registered users only
* Payment buttons are displayed dynamically allowing for site wide changes to be made from the component administration
* Records the amount of 'purchases' and 'downloads' for each file

--- Fixed content plugin bug that was causing all payment buttons displayed in article content to not display the currency symbol and first digit of the payment amount when using a dollar currency as default (e.g. USD, CAD, AUD).
--- Changed the install and uninstall methods so that upgrading is easier. Just install the new version normally and it will simply overwrite the previous one and keep all settings.
You only need to uninstall the previous version if a fresh new install is required.
--- Moved the ID column in all Admin tables to the right and added a result number column on the left to keep the display in line with the core Joomla extensions.
This is a good product. It started to work fine as i installed, it handles the file downloads, payments through Paypal without any troubles. The download counter fails sometimes.
I run a bilingual (eng / spa)website and i could not make this extension to work in spanish completely, specially during the payment process with paypal.
The support, i can say is minimal, only the literature in the website (angelcoding) and no answers from them by email. I felt alone.
This extension is only for english, and no support.

I like this plugin alot, I've installed it on my site. And this was very easy. I like the statistics, you can exactly see the numbers of downloads and purchases and donations.
Also the different button types like donate, buy, can be changed. This plugin fullfills exactly the needs of a simple download site. Thanks!

This is a great plugin, I spent ages fighting various other cart plugins but none of them were as easy to setup and configure. This just worked first time pretty much out the box. Highly recommended. Good support from the developer as well, who answered my daft question without hesitation :)
I think I tried every download payment script and cart on the extensions list and most were just too heavy and involved to set up.
This is very simple and easy to use, it was installed and set up with products in less than an hour.

While creating a new file, on 1st TAB called "File Details", there are two boxes on right side
"Users with access" and "Users without access"
After making a payment on Paypal Sandbox, user should move from User without access to user with access.
But the bug is user remains in without access list after making a payment.
So after making payment on sandbox, first, it shows "Congratulations" Line
After clicking on Download, it shows another line in RED color
"User Not Authorized - I'm sorry but you do not have access to download this file"
SO administrator must MANUALLY move a user from without access list to with access list

Great! Very happy with this one! Very easy to get up and running and is even a pleasure to use.
I tested using the paypal sandbox and all works perfectly without having to mess around with any of that horrible IPN stuff at all.
All works as stated and is a very nice mod - amazing this is free, given its quality.

Thanks for this -- This is a really nice product -- especially being that it is freeware.
I would give the product maximum stars if it just had a few more features, or was a bit more intuitive.
One thing I'd like to see (or understand how to do) is to show a sort of catlog view of all downloads available (maybe by category?)

This is one of the best components for Selling and Downloading files. I have also contacted the developer and his answers were professional and really fast. In fact, the fastest I've ever got from any developer.

After having tried a number of payment extensions offered here, I have to say that this one is by far the best and easiest I have ever used, many thanks to the developer. Had a minor hiccup in the configuration, due to my NOT reading all the documentation available. However, the patience and thorough detailed information provided by Steve shows that the support is as good as the extension. Well Done!
I needed a solution to my file download security issues.. And I am so glad I found "AC File Payments"... It gave me the payment functionality I needed but it also gave my my members-only download functionality as well. I was able to kill two birds with one stone and I couldn't be happier... The installation was simple and the documentation was easy to follow. I'm new to Joomla and when I got stuck with some of the settings which where specific to my site, the support was outstanding. In fact, the support was easily the best support I have ever received for a software product. Well done to the crew at Angelcoding.com, you really saved my bacon...
