Tienda is not a fork or bridge; it is a brand new extension designed and written from scratch by Dioscouri Design. It is built on Joomla's MVC framework and can therefore be easily modified or themed using Joomla's templates.
Tienda has been built with you, the site's administrator, in mind. While building Tienda, we focused on answering the question, "What would make it easier for us to operate our online stores?"
Some of the cool features:
* Unlimited Products and Categories
* User Group Pricing
* Unlimited User Groups
* Sell subscriptions (recurring and not recurring)
* Sell digital downloads
* Integrate with Billets, Juga, Amigos, and the core Joomla ACL to sell functions in each of those components
* Perform ANY SQL query after a user purchases a product, so you can integrate with ANY extension out there (such as selling Jomsocial group membership or Agora Forum group membership)
* One-click related products
* Create product bundles
* Content Plugin to insert products' add-to-cart buttons in any content article, including Zoo, K2, and FlexiContent
* Product Reviews & Ratings
* Product Cloning
* Custom fields for products
* Google Analytics ecommerce tracking
* Facebook Like and Twitter "Tweet This" integration
* Product Comparison
* Tools to Migrate from Xcart, Virtuemart, and Redshop
* 8 Available Translations and Joomfish Elements

Looked promising, until really started using it.
One thing: this is very much still a BETA project.
Two: support is $70/month. Expect to need a couple of those.
Three: some bits just don't work. This is not suitable for professional work yet.
However having said that their support is usually really great. But if the problem is too hard, they may not do it. This is my hard experience having worked with two major projects with them over the last year and a half.

This product looks absolutely GREAT and I really hope they get it together. I imported Virtuemart products into TIENDA perfectly. I was thrilled, but there was a bug in that you could not go through checkout. I reported the bug but was told I had to pay for support. I won't pay for support until I know the product works and judging by others' complaints here about their service I wasn't about to pay for something that might never come. I also had a question about a feature I needed. I wanted to know if Tienda had it. Didn't get a reply to that either. So again, I don't want to pay for something that is not going to work for me and they can't even tell me if it will.
I really hope they keep improving on this as it looks VERY PROMISING, Clearly they are very busy and don't have the resources to support their product, but I honestly believe if they put in some extra time to support their customers and improve their product more quickly, they'll have something that could/probably be the best Joomla ecommerce system out there. They are off to a great start, but it's just a start.

Tienda is a nice project with nice expectations ... I already used it 2 times and it can work correctly and help.
Also theire is lot of functionnality that could make it a potential choice for ecommerce on Joomla.
BUT BUT BUT ... There is bugs ! Sometimes little bugs and sometimes big ones and the real problem is support is very bad !
Support is commercial (100$ for 1 month) but each time we post a question they post another question in reply or they say developper work on a new version.
I have a bug lasting for 2 month and they prefer to work (slowly) on a new version that will make me redo work to use it instead of fixing my problem.
Is this paying support ?
Is this good support ?
Not at all.
I will drop use this extension.

You will have to pay for support to get their components to work that for sure. Its like a beautiful system they have to make money off of customers looking for shopping cart solutions. And please dont get me wrong I am happy to pay for good developed components / plugins...
I spent over $200.00 on the Tienda and Juga components. They will turn around and say the software has bugs and is in beta. I even paid $20.00 more then I was suppose to pay for support.
My big issue was the time between support tickets... way too long.
Also when you look at their stats of what the cart can do it looks perfect. Subscriptions, coupons.... but remember it's in BETA so it is not all true!

Not clean styling and very poor and seems the update for this component is very slow. I have hard time configuring and the styling which seems very difficult. I lost all y hair.
They dont support their free tienda component and need to subscribe to paid support. Everything on this component is poor and no logic at all. Better use VM it still have the logic of an online store.
Goodluck in your business.

Tienda provides the main component parts for any good stock manageable shop. Everything you would need to get going is there, and more!
I found the styling and interface to be very user friendly for both customers and admin.
But what makes Tienda better than most of the other store extensions out there, is that it has everything laid out in the back-end in a simple intuitive way. With a lot of shops you're left trying to puzzle your way around massive back-end feature lists and sections. But with Tienda it's well contained and everything is where you'd expect it to be.
Hopefully they can keep it this way and it'll turn out to be one of the best stores for Joomla!
I tweaked it a little to suit my template, but other than that it works out-of-the-box!

This is a good component, everything works as it should to. Simple configuration and quite good import tools. I even wrote own payment plugin and integration was easy...
BUT: there is a lot of work with forms styling. Each of them (login, addresses, registration...) is written own way, no fieldsets, no css classes where could be, and I have spent many ours unifying them, including changes in php source.
If I would like to buy this extension, I would advice You guys to take more care about standards accordance of forms. I'm about to install also Billets in future and I'm scared what will be.
Regards Maciej

This new joomla shopping cart is now in production Beta and I have been testing it over the last year or so.
Pros: Good looking, robust (still improving) shopping cart that can be customised to do what you need. Good documentation online, covering Installation Manual, Basic Configuration, Tutorials, Advanced Tutorials and Troubleshooting
Cons: Like all customisable carts it is fairly complicated, and takes a little time and effort to get it purring along.
Support: The online documentation mentioned above.
I have found that google searches of my problem either finds me the forum post or tutorial page with the solution, or I find that others have identified the issue and a fix is on the way. I have not had to pay for support, but would be happy to pay for the experts time if I had to implement a particularly tricky solution for a client.
The story:
I went searching for a new shopping cart solution for joomla after the older VM software could not meet the security rigour of Akeeba's Admin Tools!
I have participated in the development of Tienda, (you too can join in at http://projects.dioscouri.com) where I supported a bug report for the Australian tax situation, and it was picked up as a feature requests, and implemented in the very next release!
This is a major piece of software offered as a community version - thank you to the developers for improving the joomlaverse shopping experience for the web site builders and the shoppers!

I want to start with the good - this component has a nice clean interface - modern looking and tasteful - also the summary info is nice.
And it is a welcome thing to know that there is a company that has taken on a Joomla shopping cart - Virtumart is not bad but lacks support -
----
Which brings me to the bad - the installation is straight forward and works fine - however I have run into the same thing as many others I can gather which is the Validation Loop from Hell when you add to cart button.
I am more than happy to pay $99 for 1 month support and I suppose that is a fair price - but I am deadly afraid to pay the $99 as I see here in many reviews as well on other sites that the vendor just does not provide much for that money - Seems that this Validation Loop is not a new problem and really should be documented with a workaround or a fix by vendor - So it is a real dilemma - Am I going to pay the $99 and wait 30 days to hear nothing and nothing fixed - I wish the vendor could give me some assurance - I am just not reading much how that has happened to others. I have need for support on shipping etc. so I am willing to pay it - but just afraid that I am not going to get much support - so a very promising product and a much needed product as Virtumart is not well supported and getting to be at bit old and outdated.
If I could trust the support I would give it 4 stars now and 5 stars as some of the other issues are worked out like express checkout with Paypal etc. So I am appealing to the vendor, please provide us with some assurance that your support is better then what so many reviews are saying.
I accept that many reviews are not fair but I have read to many that what I hear from the user makes sense and they are not total beginners and very slow response etc.

We have subscriptions, downloadables, and shipped product. 61 products and a functioning cart set up in about a day.
No problems with sh404sef agora.
Documentation was great (READ IT) They provide examples which makes it easy to set up.
I tried to migrate from VM. (I believe this part is still in beta)A lot of stuff migrated, some parts didn't. Again Beta.
The UI is intuitive unlike competitors. So your learning curve is short.
The developers are working on new features which is great.
Support (I have a pd support) Plan on 24 hours like they promise.

This extension isn't suited for anyone wanting an "Out of the Box" shopping cart. It takes a lot of configuration to integrate into a site and while adequate if you know how to hack your way round php it lacks a lot of basic features that any shop owner would need. What makes it even harder to configure is the absolute lack of official support. There is a users forum with little or no official support and even purchasing a "subscription" from the makers won't see any bugs fixed until the next release and even then their on a voting system. I have fixed may bugs myself and others I've had a more experienced programmer fix for me. I had to write a plugin for a payment gateway as it only supports a couple, it has no facility to send separate customer and Admin emails and quite a few other features that should be standard in a shopping cart. To be honest I wish I'd never started with it. I'll get there in the end but it will cost me quite a bit of money to get right which I could have spent on a cart I copuld have installed, configured and had online in a day. My advice: If you like tinkering give it a go. if you want a reliable bug free shop get your wallet out and look elsewhere.
Don't let the looks fool you, this shop is a waste of time - especially if you run a Canadian shop.
Things that don't work: Multiple Tax lines, DHL plugin, more. I tried searching their forums for answers but there's nothing there. No chance I'm paying to get a simple answer.
The idea of releasing a component loaded with problems and charging to explain how it works is a joke. Take some time to make some support documents and maybe the community could actually get behind this product.
Concept 10/10
Delivery 3/10

Yes, this module better than virtue mart! Congratulations.
I'm familiar working with virtue mart before. Than I started looking for new e-commerce solution because there is no photo gallery provided by virtue mart unlike Tienda, good job. After some testing and benchmarking, I found a little bug. The order will be save on review page. So, if customer decide to cancel the order on review order page, it still appear on "My Order History" page. I tried couple times to fix it, but without success.
Other than that little bug that keep bothering me, nice job Tienda!

Tienda is a robust and flexible extension with a lot of potential. It's got a nice, easy to use UI. It includes many great features, as you can see in the list above. It could be a great e-commerce solution for Joomla!.
BUT...
1. Not all the features are fully functional. For example, the product custom fields don't work properly. IF the entered values carry over into the shopping cart (yes, often times they don't), they don't carry over into the checkout process.
2. Their support is slow to respond and sporadic. I payed the $100 for a month of support and reported the issue of the custom fields not working on April 26th. It's now been over 5 weeks and there's no fix. Most of that time I heard nothing from the support team. I would argue that I've only received about 2 to 2.5 weeks of support. I've even set up a test site, at the developers request, with a copy of the live site. For about a week, an attempt was made to correct the issue, which at first seemed to work, but after further testing created more problems. Communication from them would be very helpful and a fix for this problem is critical. Besides my communication with them in their support ticket system, on June 1st I emailed them letting them know how unhappy I was and have not received a response yet.
As I said, this extension has a lot of potential, but the lack of support for known issues nullifies any amount of potential it may possess.
Come on Dioscouri Team! I really want you to succeed!!

This is simply a great shopping cart. Extremely configurable, native support for subscriptions, very nice UI. It set up very fast and easily, dropped right in and looks great with the site's CSS. I'll definitely look to use this cart for some more complex e-commerce - I'd like to play around with more of it's many great features. Personally, I'm a big fan of the free download/paid support model, seems very fair - thanks for all the great work!
This is a good extension lost on a bad business model. They tell you it is non-commercial, but the reality is that it is sufficiently sophisticated that most people will need to purchase pricey support to get it to work.
Therefore, since you do have to pay for support/documentation to actually be able to use the thing, one would question if it is really non-commercial. It's like getting all the parts for a free car, but you'll pay dearly for the parts list and instructions.
Don't expect any help at all unless you pay. They do not offer even basic instructions of any kind and you will end up pulling your hair out over this one.

Wow...
I've tried almost any e-commerce component available for joomla, but all of them lack some important features for me.
Tienda is just perfect, the way you can customize any product/category view, excluding things you just don't need or want to show is amazing.
It's very easy to install and setup. The two modifications in the php.ini file are very simple to do.
Just one point: the translations should be a bit easier to access and to install.
Love it!

Many shopping carts don't provide user custom fields for each product but Tienda has it! Having a little trouble getting the new fields to show in the beginning but after a while I managed to get it. User friendly interface. I am looking forward for the commercial version but I hope it will be priced on a high side so that more people are willing to pay for it.
I downloaded the module as instructed, important to make sure that you make some adjustments to you PHP prior to installing -see developers notes.
Easy to navigate, quickly set up store front and the back end has many attributes to enable customization of specific needs.
I had a question for support, and I was answered within hours by Chris - very helpful.
Overall, very impressed, and highly recommend Tienda for its features and the customer support.

We've needed a quality alternative e-commerce solution for years and years and this looks like a home run. It is very easy to navigate. I set up a store in about an hour without reading any documentation. I'm working on the shipping now and it looks like I'll have to break out the instruction. Great work Dioscouri!
