Tienda is not a fork or bridge; it is a brand new extension designed and written from scratch by Dioscouri Design. It is built on Joomla's MVC framework and can therefore be easily modified or themed using Joomla's templates.
Tienda has been built with you, the site's administrator, in mind. While building Tienda, we focused on answering the question, "What would make it easier for us to operate our online stores?"
Some of the cool features:
* Unlimited Products and Categories
* User Group Pricing
* Unlimited User Groups
* Sell subscriptions (recurring and not recurring)
* Sell digital downloads
* Integrate with Billets, Juga, Amigos, and the core Joomla ACL to sell functions in each of those components
* Perform ANY SQL query after a user purchases a product, so you can integrate with ANY extension out there (such as selling Jomsocial group membership or Agora Forum group membership)
* One-click related products
* Content Plugin to insert products' add-to-cart buttons in any content article, including Zoo, K2, and FlexiContent
* Product Reviews & Ratings
* Product Cloning
* Custom fields for products
* Google Analytics ecommerce tracking
* Facebook Like and Twitter "Tweet This" integration
* Product Comparison
* Tools to Migrate from Xcart, Virtuemart, and Redshop
In total, there are over 50 extensions for Tienda!

Cheers!
I was left on my own with a crashed website.
I thought I had lost my website for good.
Fortunately, after many tries, I was able to fix the problem by going into the cPanel of my hosting company and removing every trace of Tienda from my website.
So learn from my experience, and STAY AWAY from Tienda. There are other reviews here that reported Tienda to be buggy. I should have listened.
Thanks for the review! The 2.5+ compatible version of Tienda is nearly ready for release. You can access the branch on our SVN here: http://projects.dioscouri.com/projects/tienda/repository/show/branches/Tienda-DSCLibrary
We'd love to have you come help us test it out!
See above -- The 2.5+ compatible version of Tienda is nearly ready for release. You can access the branch on our SVN here: http://projects.dioscouri.com/projects/tienda/repository/show/branches/Tienda-DSCLibrary
We'd love to have you come help us test it out!
Very easy to use, clean interface, many settings, options, modules, menus available, very flexible.
Combine selling of product, downloads and subscriptions!
Yes, all options are not yet fully working, but there's already enough to have a decent store running (if you know the current limitations)
But I feel that a stable version is coming very soon...
If you love it too but find it buggy, just join the free community version project and help make this tool even better faster ! Stop complaining and expecting to get the best for for free with no effort...
If you get Tienda from other sources, then it's not necessarily the 'real thing'. Always be sure to directly download Tienda from the link provided here. (We've seen some others distributing their templates with a very old version of Tienda.)
0.9.0 is a significant upgrade for Tienda - be sure that you are using (and reviewing) the latest version.
And if you run into problems, please use the provided bug reporting, user-to-user forum, or paid support options to work through the issues.
No support answer, no updates, no hope!
Joomla was updated from 1.5 to 1.6
tienda don't changed
Joomla was updated from 1.6 to 1.7
tienda don't changed
Joomla was updated from 1.7 to 2.5
tienda still wait for something else...
Hey! may be they kidding me?
Sorry, we don't see any posts using this name in our free user-to-user support forums and nothing on our subscription support center. Not sure about what your specific problems were.
We just released another huge update (0.9.0) which fixes a LOT (over 50) bugs, and adds a few new features. We've also been releasing minor releases (almost nightly at times) on our projects site.
If you're having problems please contact us via the support center or ask others in the forum area and someone will try to help. [NOTE: The support center does require a subscription for direct support - but the forum is free, just like the extension.]
One thing: this is very much still a BETA project.
Two: support is $70/month. Expect to need a couple of those.
Three: some bits just don't work. This is not suitable for professional work yet.
However having said that their support is usually really great. But if the problem is too hard, they may not do it. This is my hard experience having worked with two major projects with them over the last year and a half.
Nathan, Thanks for pointing out that this IS still a beta project - however it is a 'production beta' - meaning it will work fine for SOME users (if you don't need some of the features that aren't finished yet).
Many users are working with it just fine - and many don't even need any support.
The latest release (0.9.0) is VERY much closer to stable and 'just about' ready for full production use (see our site for a list of the areas that aren't complete yet).
And if anyone has questions about any of the features please feel free to ask in our support center (you don't need a subscription to ask the status of features or IF Tienda will do something).
I really hope they keep improving on this as it looks VERY PROMISING, Clearly they are very busy and don't have the resources to support their product, but I honestly believe if they put in some extra time to support their customers and improve their product more quickly, they'll have something that could/probably be the best Joomla ecommerce system out there. They are off to a great start, but it's just a start.
Also theire is lot of functionnality that could make it a potential choice for ecommerce on Joomla.
BUT BUT BUT ... There is bugs ! Sometimes little bugs and sometimes big ones and the real problem is support is very bad !
Support is commercial (100$ for 1 month) but each time we post a question they post another question in reply or they say developper work on a new version.
I have a bug lasting for 2 month and they prefer to work (slowly) on a new version that will make me redo work to use it instead of fixing my problem.
Is this paying support ?
Is this good support ?
Not at all.
I will drop use this extension.
Unfortunately, we are still in a beta model right now. That means that we are still working on finalizing some of the functionality of Tienda. It also means that you will probably need to update template overrides and other custom modifications as new versions come out.
BTW ... the issues that we had on this site were a bit involved. It was related to several core bugs that required some significant re-coding of the system. Unfortunately that did take time.
The new 0.9.0 release is much closer to a stable release and so far nobody is having any problems with it.
I spent over $200.00 on the Tienda and Juga components. They will turn around and say the software has bugs and is in beta. I even paid $20.00 more then I was suppose to pay for support.
My big issue was the time between support tickets... way too long.
Also when you look at their stats of what the cart can do it looks perfect. Subscriptions, coupons.... but remember it's in BETA so it is not all true!
Dan is VERY right - Tienda is still in Beta. And we strongly encourage EVERYONE to give it a test before you make it live (it's completely free to download and test even the latest 0.9.0 version).
Unfortunately, we can't make everything work for everyone during the beta process. Even in the 0.9.0 version, which is MUCH more stable, there are still some known features that are not 100% functional; however, the core system is working for a number of people and we'll be resolving the remaining issues soon.
Also, we did respond to Dan's requests promptly (usually within 24 hours each time, over the course of a week - even when it went into a holiday weekend). However, some of the issues that he raised were valid bugs in some of the non-core features of Tienda that have taken some time to get addressed.
ONE KEY REMINDER - please do NOT try to install Tienda (or any major extension - esp. eCommerce) and expect it to work exactly as you envision in a very short period of time (that is especially true for any beta product). PLEASE download Tienda and give it a try on your test server. Put it through it's paces FIRST before you promise it to a client. And IF you do run into problems, please report them on the forum or in the bug reporting area so that we can address them.
They dont support their free tienda component and need to subscribe to paid support. Everything on this component is poor and no logic at all. Better use VM it still have the logic of an online store.
Goodluck in your business.
raulG,
I'm sorry to hear about your hair. And I must say that if VM is easier for you to figure out, then probably it's better that you stay with it. However, we've had a LOT of people say that Tienda is a much easier to manage cart for administrators.
Also, we've had just the opposite comments from almost anyone who has taken a look at our code. Most say it is VERY clean and easy to work with. Although there is still room for improvement, we're pretty proud of our code (and our coders!).
I found the styling and interface to be very user friendly for both customers and admin.
But what makes Tienda better than most of the other store extensions out there, is that it has everything laid out in the back-end in a simple intuitive way. With a lot of shops you're left trying to puzzle your way around massive back-end feature lists and sections. But with Tienda it's well contained and everything is where you'd expect it to be.
Hopefully they can keep it this way and it'll turn out to be one of the best stores for Joomla!
I tweaked it a little to suit my template, but other than that it works out-of-the-box!
BUT: there is a lot of work with forms styling. Each of them (login, addresses, registration...) is written own way, no fieldsets, no css classes where could be, and I have spent many ours unifying them, including changes in php source.
If I would like to buy this extension, I would advice You guys to take more care about standards accordance of forms. I'm about to install also Billets in future and I'm scared what will be.
Regards Maciej
Pros: Good looking, robust (still improving) shopping cart that can be customised to do what you need. Good documentation online, covering Installation Manual, Basic Configuration, Tutorials, Advanced Tutorials and Troubleshooting
Cons: Like all customisable carts it is fairly complicated, and takes a little time and effort to get it purring along.
Support: The online documentation mentioned above.
I have found that google searches of my problem either finds me the forum post or tutorial page with the solution, or I find that others have identified the issue and a fix is on the way. I have not had to pay for support, but would be happy to pay for the experts time if I had to implement a particularly tricky solution for a client.
The story:
I went searching for a new shopping cart solution for joomla after the older VM software could not meet the security rigour of Akeeba's Admin Tools!
I have participated in the development of Tienda, (you too can join in at http://projects.dioscouri.com) where I supported a bug report for the Australian tax situation, and it was picked up as a feature requests, and implemented in the very next release!
This is a major piece of software offered as a community version - thank you to the developers for improving the joomlaverse shopping experience for the web site builders and the shoppers!
And it is a welcome thing to know that there is a company that has taken on a Joomla shopping cart - Virtumart is not bad but lacks support -
----
Which brings me to the bad - the installation is straight forward and works fine - however I have run into the same thing as many others I can gather which is the Validation Loop from Hell when you add to cart button.
I am more than happy to pay $99 for 1 month support and I suppose that is a fair price - but I am deadly afraid to pay the $99 as I see here in many reviews as well on other sites that the vendor just does not provide much for that money - Seems that this Validation Loop is not a new problem and really should be documented with a workaround or a fix by vendor - So it is a real dilemma - Am I going to pay the $99 and wait 30 days to hear nothing and nothing fixed - I wish the vendor could give me some assurance - I am just not reading much how that has happened to others. I have need for support on shipping etc. so I am willing to pay it - but just afraid that I am not going to get much support - so a very promising product and a much needed product as Virtumart is not well supported and getting to be at bit old and outdated.
If I could trust the support I would give it 4 stars now and 5 stars as some of the other issues are worked out like express checkout with Paypal etc. So I am appealing to the vendor, please provide us with some assurance that your support is better then what so many reviews are saying.
I accept that many reviews are not fair but I have read to many that what I hear from the user makes sense and they are not total beginners and very slow response etc.
No problems with sh404sef agora.
Documentation was great (READ IT) They provide examples which makes it easy to set up.
I tried to migrate from VM. (I believe this part is still in beta)A lot of stuff migrated, some parts didn't. Again Beta.
The UI is intuitive unlike competitors. So your learning curve is short.
The developers are working on new features which is great.
Support (I have a pd support) Plan on 24 hours like they promise.
Things that don't work: Multiple Tax lines, DHL plugin, more. I tried searching their forums for answers but there's nothing there. No chance I'm paying to get a simple answer.
The idea of releasing a component loaded with problems and charging to explain how it works is a joke. Take some time to make some support documents and maybe the community could actually get behind this product.
Concept 10/10
Delivery 3/10
Just to clarify - we never charge just to ask a question about a feature. You're welcome to ask about features in our support center (no subscription needed for pre-sale questions).
Also - we now (in 0.9.0) have the ability to handle Canadian taxes (and any location that requires compound taxes).
DHL shipping is still in progress. Unfortunately we've not had a lot of people request this (feel free to let us know if you'd like to see the DHL shipping system functional for Tienda and we'll get on it).
I'm familiar working with virtue mart before. Than I started looking for new e-commerce solution because there is no photo gallery provided by virtue mart unlike Tienda, good job. After some testing and benchmarking, I found a little bug. The order will be save on review page. So, if customer decide to cancel the order on review order page, it still appear on "My Order History" page. I tried couple times to fix it, but without success.
Other than that little bug that keep bothering me, nice job Tienda!
