The first choice shows all categories and sub-categories as top-level (wrong ul li structure). The second choice shows only the sub-level categories (no top-level categories are shown). The third choice gave the same like the second choice except all in one line/row.
Even worse and confusing, every time I tried to select either one of the 3 choices, the module automatically created a new module named "Associated products listing for category listing menu". The same thing happened when I tried to create Manufacturer module, Best Sales module, Featured Product module, etc .So, under my Module Manager I have like more than 30 those long-name modules. I have no idea what they are used for. It only makes my Module Manager looks ugly.
Another problem, when I accessed from front-end, then looked at the HTML Source Code (View - Source if you are using IE), I saw a lot of inline stylings. These make me pulling my hair when I tried to customize the stylings. Because every time I customize the CSS on my default template.css, it got overriden by those inline stylings.
Another problem, when I put the module in an article using loadposition, the dollar sign and the non-decimal digits are missing leaving only the decimal digits on the product price. My time is already squeezed and can't do anymore trials and errors.
Thank you for your review,
You should have contacted us or asked on our forum for help. We could have helped you understand what was wrong.
Regarding the $ sign missing, the problem is that you have another extension which tries to replace ${text} to something else on your website. And since your prices start with $, this happens. It is not a problem in HikaShop.
One simple solution is to edit your currency via the menu System->Currencies and just turn on the option "Symbol and positive value space separation" which will add a space between the $ and the price, avoiding that problem.
Indeed, some inline styling is added by HikaShop. As you can see in the interface, you have lots of display options for you to configure HikaShop without having to resort to CSS for simple tasks like the background color. Since these options will be changed by the user, they are added with inline styling. But you can always override them with the !important feature of CSS should you not want to use the options provided.
Making a category listing module in two levels can by done quite easily with the options available in HikaShop. In fact, if you look at our demo website, we have one configured on the left area. You could have taken example on its options in order to configure yours on the same way.
It is a very competent product that is highly recommended.
I must say all the positive reviews here are well deserved.
Installation went smooth, the component is really easy but with a lot of features.
Don't worry thinking is not as popular as VM or that it doesn't have so many modules and extensions cause the team is constantly developing new features.
The support is excellent and this means that they guys in the team even answer on a sunday or during the weekend and most questions are answered in few hours.
There's an extensive documentation on their webpage too covering all the areas.
The component still has some work to do specially in their shipping methods, quite limited right now but as their component becomes more and more popular have no doubt Hikashop is the present and future of e-commerce in Joomla.
Manuxx
I've been searching for "the" e-commerce extension for a while, and I've tried all the major "players" (with an idea that e-commerce just has to be "hard and for hard-core developers only"), prior to stumbling on Hikashop.
It INSTALLS in a snap. It WORKS! and it works circles around other extensions, in my opinion.
It's very easy to set up all the various aspects (shipping, payment, etc.) compared to what I've had to deal with elsewhere.
Now the best yet, is SUPPORT. These guys are not kidding - top-notch support, going into DETAIL in answering my questions, and FAST! I'm still in amazement from having looked at my email this morning to find all my questions fully answered, and with a smile :)
I highly recommend this shopping cart to anyone that is after quality, speed and no headaches :)
Thank you, Hikari Software Team!
I am using hikashop about 4 months. Before I tried to use redshop and virtuemart. Also I tried tienda but it don't work on joomla 1.7 and 2.5.
First of all - I don't know when support of the hikashop is sleep. He will answer on all your questions in 3-4 hours! Every day!
Second is that this extension will work on all Joomla configuration. No special requirements! Great!
Third, you can tune all what you need! hikashop will work just as you expected!
Russian community active and you can talk Russian language on the forum!
International support is great!
I have bought Business version because I want that hikashop evaluate more!
HikaShop is outstanding, it gives you everything you need and much more. I'm seriously thinking of upgrading to the 'Business' edition. It's that good.
Download or buy it and see how good it is for yourself.
Support is excellent too, can't rate it enough.
It took a bit to understand the thinking of the menuesystem but at least you can read the documentation or get support.
The support is more than brilliant, fast, competend and helpful! I´m realy happy that I ve changed and hope that the hikashop will get a lot of fans because it´s so good! Well done! Thank s a lot
HikaShop offers a stunning aray of configuration options and abilities, but still manages to run and look great out of the box with the default settings. All essential core functions (inventory control, shopping cart, payment gateways, shipping integration, social interaction, etc) are present in the Starter Edition. If you require extremely fine-grained control over appearance and added functionality like integration with Google Analytics, robust Affiliate support, and many others, you can upgrade to one of the two, reasonably priced paid editions. After seeing the potential of the product and experiencing great support, I had no problem paying the small asking price for the Business Edition of this product. I know that by choosing HikaShop I'm going to save myself a great deal of time and frustration, and will be able to focus on running my business instead of worrying about my website.
All in all this is a strong package with great support. It appears as though the author is committed to continuing development on the product and seems quite receptive to requests and suggestions. If you're looking for a full-featured e-commerce solution backed by great support, give HikaShop a long look!
Thanks for great component.
I wholeheartedly recommend this extension!
If you make a category menu (listing of categories as a menu), it works only if SEF urls are turned off, otherwise it gives a 404 error.
I posted on the forum multiple times but the maker keeps ignoring my posts so I can't say good thinks about support either.
We actually replied to you on our forum today. Please understand that during the week end, the support is slower than during the rest of the week.
HikaShop works with SEF. It's just a matter of having the modules and menus setup properly.
Because of this change, Hikashop became essentially useless to me which means, I have to deinstall it and install some other shop system and put all the stuff in again as I am not willing to spend over 100€ just to sell a few things that I don't need any more.
Bottom line: Great system but be prepared that the developer might suddenly move essential features to the paid version.
Hi,
The guest checkout option has always been in the Essential edition of HikaShop since day one. And it doesn't cost over 100 euros but 49.95 euros.
It's a shame that you had to redo all your website on a misunderstanding.
This is however clearly stated on our website.
HikaShop was recommended by someone on the VM forum (who was also having problems getting VM to work) and so I decided to give it a try. Within 1 hour after downloading it I had a basic functioning webshop! It just works. After the gruesome fiddling with countless parameters in VM, setting up HikaShop was a breeze.
It's simple to setup, yet still offers a LOT of options and functionality for more advanced users. And for users who really want to take full advantage of some powerful features, there are the commercial versions that are very reasonably priced. Plus, any questions I posted on the forum were answered within hours, which is more than I can say of the VM forum.
I'm sticking with HikaShop, and upgrading to the Business version soon.
I have my client look at it even, and no problems. They are happy. So happy in fact that I have convinced them to go to the paid version. Now, after having done NOTHING to the site or the store I come back to the front end to check it again and it isn't working. It gets to the checkout page where at the top it says Billing Address and underneath that a button that says "new" (This was never there before)and under that it says payment method.
I try to go to the forum and find an answer or post my problem and nothing. The forum, the site, everything is down. So I'm basically at a loss here with a pissed off client that needs this up and no way to fix the issue.
Which means I am going to have to install yet another e-commerce component and pray that IT works... May possibly lose a good client over this one but oh well, I shouldn't complain should I?? Scrap that...I'm complaining.
Hi,
I'm sorry you got a bad experience. You went to our website at a wrong time as we had a downtime last week. Since then, our website if of course up and running.
Your problem is actually not a problem. It's just that you went to the checkout with a user already logged in who didn't had yet an address entered, thus the "new" button in order to create a new address. Also, you should have seen a notification message telling you to fill your address. But some templates do not include the jdoc include block for message display so that's probably why you got confused.
