I am busy opening up my first webshop. Initially considered Virtuemart, but with all th waiting for the new release decided to settle with Hikashop. Glad I did, installed the shop without problems. Only a small problem with a specific checkout setting, but after reporting it on the forum I received a fix for this, Also my general questions weere ussually answered within hours.
After weeks of tweaking, testing, customizing and wrestling with VM I eventually gave up in desperation.
Then I installed hikashop (I should have done it before!)
What a neat, functional, complete, easy, configurable and well-thought-of piece of software. I waited a few months before writing this review, so to see if there were inconsistencies and or issues: Hikashop performance has been flawless so far.
If you need an e-commerce cart, look no further. This is it.

For me it's a bit special as a new startup specialist business with a range of one off unique products, this product is perfect just what I wanted, not to much CSS for a newbie. Very easy to install and to setup an online shop. It was working within 40 minutes of download and I am not a Joomla nor a website specialist.
I tried the free version first knowing full well that I would need a commercial version as I did not want my customers to have to creat a login before they could make a purchase. I was not to be dissapointed. The "Essential" version installed straight over the top of the free version without any alteration to my settings.
There is a wealth of Documentation if you have a problem and the forum seems very lively and responsive. I did have one small problem, you could descibe it as not seeing the wood for the trees! But, an email direct to Hilka with details to access the backend to the site and they sorted me within minutes.

It installs perfectly and everything is accessible straight away. The documentation is well laid out and easy to read and put into practice. With this being my first site I did contact the developer for support on a number of occasions and he was always prompt with replies - normally on the same day, and the help was always thorough, explained and polite.
For a free cart I am impressed with the product itself and the amount of help I received with it. Overall a great cart. Thank you for providing it.

I am a long time user of VirtueMart, and over the last year have experimented with alternatives. I was getting tired of how difficult certain things in VirtueMart where. I tried Tienda and RedShop. Both are OK, but have shortcomings. I then tried HikaShop.
Working with HikaShop is a pleasure. The best way to say it is that it just works. Out of the both not only does it work great, it also looks great. It is also highly customizable, and quite easily so. All customization can be done right through the admin interface including template overrides.
I can't recommend this shopping cart enough. If you want a no nonsense shopping cart that works exactly as it should, with fantastic support and documentation, look no further than HikaShop.

This extension definitely have a future but it need to be developed. It lacks a lot of functionality to make it an extension that can compete with other e-shops on the market.
Paypal Express is missing, which I think is a great need.
There is no carrier. Where are FedEx, DHL, USPS, Canada Post?
Payment and transport are key elements of an e-shops. I'll have to use a different script than this.

There are shipping modules available for HikaShop. UPS and Australia Post are included by default in HikaShop as well a a plugin to setup your rates manually. You can also find a USPS shipping module made by another developer on our website.
Automated rates calculation for the other shipping carriers you mentioned are indeed not available yet.
HiakShop already supports PayPal standard and PayPal Pro. PayPal express is indeed not available for now. Besides, HikaShop supports more than 15 other payment methods.
We already added a lot of functions in HikaShop in a little more than one year since our first release and more will come. Also, any one is welcomed to write such plugins and we have a developer documentation specifically for that on our website.

Why this extension is not the most highly rated and is buried on the second page I do not understand.
Everything the positive reviewers say here is absolutely true.
Good points:
• Well thought out in a business process sense
• Has great auto generated invoices and status emails
• Is very feasible for non technical users to set up
• Once set up will be very easy to maintain (create new products)
• Great sales administration interface
• Good documentation
• Highly functional, even true for the free version.
• Did not need support but from the tone of the forum, that is great too.

I've worked with a number of shopping cart solutions including virtuemart, Tienda, Zencart and none of those compare to the features, ease of use, customization, and customer service.
BY FAR THE BEST! The free version is very robust and I could easily make it do what I needed and if I had a question they HikaShop team would answer within hours.
I am now convinced that this is the shopping for all my future websites. Don't waste your energy with the others! SIMPLY THE BEST!

Finally, after weeks and weeks of messing around with Joomshopping, and hitting my head against a brick wall, I have made the move over to Hikashop. I just wish I had done it sooner! It is so much better in all departments. Easy to use, easy to customise, and guess what - the developer actually responds to your forum questions!! And all this for a very reasonable price. Thank you very much to the developer, and good riddance to Joomshopping!

I must say that I'm really impressed with Hikashop! Using the free version now, but planning to buy the cart for my next project. Simply brilliant, so easy to customize and really does the job so well. Tried all kinds of ecommerce extensions, and not really liked any one of them that much as most are cumbersome. Hikashop is much better than any of the others, including Virtuemart! Keep up the good work!!
