A few words about CKEditor:
CKEditor is an online rich text editor that can be embedded inside web pages. It is a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) editor which means that the text edited in it looks as similar as possible to the results end users will see after the document gets published. It brings to the Web popular editing features found in desktop word processors such as Microsoft Word and OpenOffice.org Writer. CKEditor is truly lightweight and does not require any kind of installation on the client computer.
You can learn more about CKEditor on the official CKEditor website (click the "DEMO" link). If you are looking for a package that includes a CKFinder license and a dedicated e-mail support channel, visit http://ckeditor.com/ckeditor-for-joomla
Please refer to the project homepage (hosted by joomlacode.org) to report bugs or add feature requests.
Okay I use it from time to time and find it a joy to use. I have used all the other editors but CK Editor provides the functionality I require for the other people who edit the site, while keeping things as simple as possible.
Love it, Love It, Love it!
I have been using this editor integrated to a Wiki for some time now, and I was thrilled to discover that it also exists for Joomla.
Pros: User-friendly, as many features as JCE
Cons: Lack of a "clean the messy code" function
The default skin is beautiful, but most of all this editor is intuitive to use.
And once the matching CKFinder is running, it really is a force to be reckoned with.
A joy to use.
The only downside is that it is not as popular in the Joomlasphere as some other editors, thus the lack of plugins.
But CKEditor is still my first choice for my future projects.
for info: It wasn't a total failure because most of it worked OK.
I had used TinyMCE for articles until I installed the CKrc2 and after installation, (in Admin view) all inserted pictures from before came up as an empty square with a small X in the corner (like a broken link) but the public view of the site was still OK.
I changed my editor back to TinyMCE again and it was all OK again.
That was using IE (it was similar using FireFox)
Keep up the good work, and keep on smiling... the final release can't be far away :)
I will change ckeditor baseHref path to works with default joomla editor. You always can change this settings in component configuration -> Custom configuration setting in advanced settings tab. The new settings should be less confused for new users. Thx for report this problem.
Seriously? Why no-repeat twice? Makes it useless in FF and IE, gracefully chrome ignores the stupidity of inserting no-repeat twice.
It's a pity that you have used review to report a bug in the editor, that's not the best place to report issues with CKEditor or suggest new features that are outside of the scope of Joomla! extension
Please use the following URL to report a bug in CKEditor:
http://dev.ckeditor.com/
remember to read an instruction on howto report a bug:
http://dev.ckeditor.com/wiki/TicketSpecs
This way we'll be able to handle it properly.
In short we need a detailed set of steps to reproduce the issue (with initial HTML source, expected result) along with the editor version and your browser/OS. We've tried to reproduce the issue reported in this and previous comment without luck, so we'll not manage to fix it unless you provide some more details on it.
Thank you for taking your time to write a review and test our extension and I hope that you'll give CKEditor another chance soon ;-)
