I have been using JCE for a while and overall it is great! It is the first thing I install after starting a new site. Thanks you for you development. I really do appreciate the quality of your product and the ease of use, especially when I train new users for our organization's site management.
Though when I uploaded a new template the other day for a site that has been up and running very well since last July, the background of the text edit box is now the color of my sight background and I can't read the text in the box. This is the first time I have had this problem. I need to figure how to work around this because I don't really want to switch editors. It appears I am running the latest versions and I am watching your site for updates.

Makes Joomla much easier to deal with and much more user friendly. It is highly configurable, which is a great feature.

My only complaint is with the image browser. ALL images MUST be in the "Stories" folder and you can't navigate out to the "Images" folder. A small quibble, I know, but it's annoying.

There is no doubt the best editor for Joomla is JCE. I have been using JCE for about 4 years now on dozens of installations. JCE just keeps getting better with every version Ryan puts out.

The extra plugin's that cost $20.00 per year are really advanced and useful. This is only a small cost to help with the bandwidth of a busy site.Even without the extra plugins you are going to have an advanced and easy to use editor.

I find the comparison by the person who claims it's just 'Bad', to be ridiculous. Comparing JCE to a beta release editor that clearly claims on their site that you should not be using his product on a production site!

JCE is a high class component that is way above the rest of the pack. If you take some time to learn what it is capable of doing you will be very surprised, to say the least!

Thank you for this excellent component that makes working inside Joomla much easier. The automatic creation of thumbnail's (leaving the original intact), the easy way of adding a Youtube link for a video in your article, the uploading of all types of photos and media, the easy way of adding Flash to an article! The list of features is huge and very useful.

I have been using JCE for some days and my opinion about it is becoming worse and worse.

1) It doesn't create / tags automatically. This can help in some cases, but in most cases it only disturbs.
2) It makes article loading too long.
3) JCE can compete with TinyMCE and some others, but ceditCKEditor leaves it far behind, not because of features, but because of look & speed.
4) Too many features, and too much time to find the one needed.
Owner's reply

1) What tags are you referring to? JCE creates well-formed XHTML valid html.

2 & 3) It seems strange that your main requirements of an editor are speed and visual appeal. The loading speed of JCE can be increased by activating GZip compression in the JCE Configuration.

4) I agree, JCE is packed full of features, and offer even more with an optional subscription. Sometimes its necessary to spend time to learn how to use an extension to get the most out of it.

Good extension, works perfect, only one bug with the read more button solved in the latest version of the plug-in. Do update to that one!

Tons of advanced features, but the basics just don't seem to work right. Things like bullet and numbered lists, or changing the font characteristics do not act predictably... Still looking for a really solid text editor before I worry about the really cool features.

I automatically install JCE on every Joomla site I build. JCE has everything a website author needs to create a first rate article in any blog or news item.

It's also a real time saver for administrators. It has so many formatting functions built in there is little need for custom HTML.

Five stars is not high enough, I would give JCE ten stars if I could...

I’m making Joomla sites for around 2 years now and I just change recently from another well known Editor (only in an paying version). My main raison at first to switch to JCE is the Support. On that other editor your support was running out after a period of time. When I say run out, it’s really that no forum, no nothing. Even if I support develloppers that type of aftersales services are not welcome. My analogy : You buy a new car and after the warranty is over you cannot buy any parts for it, you can even open the hood...

I make the good choice with JCE.
1— Excellent support
2— You can go with a free , more basic Editor
3— Or in my case go for the paying extensions to have a professional Editor with all the bells and wistles that you need.

Main features for me is the ability to have one set of tools (of your choice) to one user/authors or type of users and the possibility to assign folders to editors/authors.
And so far, I have more possibilities, compare to my other editor.

THANKS JCE

I agree with the earlier post and really do think that this is the best joomla editor by far. But it does need to support mp4 video playback by its bundled flash player since this is the new defacto format for web video now. Even adobe does not actively develop the flv video container any more, they now focus on mp4.
If setting a custom player in the media settings is an option, then more documentation need to be available to explain how to do so. Also how to extend the external video sources to include more than youtube, google and metacafe only videos, such as screencast. but overall, this is a great component.
Owner's reply

Extensive Media Manager improvements will be made in JCE 2.0 which will be out early next year.

I had to give this extension a 4 star rating purely because there is an issue with the read more button. I can get around this by just changing the editor over and then going back to JCE. It gives so many more options and it makes life so much simpler if you are doing lots of articles etc. Really should be a must have extension for anyone designing a site.
Owner's reply

Issues with the Joomla! Readmore, Pagebreak and other 3rd party buttons were fixed in 1.5.6

After days of stressing trying to make another popular editor work, I tried this one. It is so easy to use and really is WYSIWYG (unlike the other one I tried). This component has taken all of the hard work out of publishing articles to my website. Thank you!

It's the best editor for Joomla with the least problems. I have 4 editors installed on our site so the users each can use the one they prefer (we have 20 people who submit content to one website for example). JCE is hands down the least problematic of them all.

The only problems that ever arise from this editor are always browser based; I'm positive that it's browser issues for all other non 5 star reviews for this editor. (Firefox is such a buggy browser now that most people use IE, Safari, or Chrome when editing the site even if they're Firefox fans - Opera also has issues with many Joomla editors).

Thank you very much for providing such a great extension for Joomla!

I have tried them all, but I always return to JCE. Please keep up the good work in spite of the 3 and 4 star reviewers that have never cut a line of code for others to enjoy.
Maybe they should look at what the paid editors offer. JCE is value for money.

As I said in my title this is teh best editor for Joomla so far! This Editor has all the features TinyMCE lacks and it looks really cool.

I have only one micro complaint, that the new windows, like to add a link, take a while to load. But that is a micro issue and this is still the greatest editor.

I love this extension. I had it working beautifully on one site but when I went to install it on another, I couldn't get the media button to show. I spent about 2 hours trying everything I could think of. Finally I uninstalled it and installed the exact same files that were in the site where the media button worked. Initially the media button still didn't show then finally it did. I have no idea what I did right. but it's working now. Wish there was a little better documentation. Forums at the JCE website were down too. Bummer. But Still a fantastic Extension. I'd give it excellent if I hadn't had this problem.
