IMPORTANT: At the moment, there is no more developpment of this module and the support is no more provided. You can use and change the module as you like it. It works fine in most of the cases, but I have no more time to make a lot of support... sorry for that! Maybe I'll test and make a new version natively for joomla 1.7 in the future.

Changes mod_cbuserlist v2.0 (20.04.2009):
# Different user lists can be displayed: last new users / random users / last connected users
# Module renamed
Pros
This module is simple
It will allow you to show a group in one list
You can easily change the look of the list
It gives you flexible options on how to display your lists
Cons
We cannot add additional info from CB tables
All in all, excellent job. I put good for the con but this is the best userlist mod I have tried.

It does exactly what it says. But the best part is in its simplicity. It doesn't overload my website, it only modestly (but effectively) showcases my users.
I like to use the features "new members" and have it display at the top left side of my page. This gives the online users a chance to "meet them."
Then once in a while, I revert it to "featured members" by using the random members option in the parameters.
It makes it look like my site is alive and buzzing with user activity--very important to get the ball rolling.
I'm so thankful for this free extension. The developers understand the concept that in websites, to be simple is to be effective.

It works for me but i have a little Style Issue (there is no option for horizontal list style) and a little Itemid Issue with Profile Link (there is no Itemid inside the Profile Link) and the output of a CB Date field is different to CB Profile Date. (yyyy.mm.dd instead dd.mm.yyy)
The last star will have to wait yet!

Another super little plugin that shows visitors that my site is actually attracting new members! LOL.
Now visitors can see a neat little listing of my latest members with registration date.
Simple install.
Simple adjustments.
Thanks to the programmers. These little snippets are gems.

I had been looking for a "Featured User(s)" module for CB for a little while and downloaded this on another users recommendation. It was exactly what I was looking for because of the "random" option.
The only other thing I needed was for the avatar (photo in my case) to show with the text instead of with the mouseover as configured.
I contacted the developer with my needs with no expectation of a quick resolution. Well within a couple of days the module was updated and I had what I needed.
Great Job!

I am only giving this 4 stars because the avatars did not work for me right after install. I had to contact the developer to get it to work.
But because of the response time and the willingness to help I am changing that to 5 stars.
The developer was great and helped me to get this going within 24 hours. He actually made a new release and sent me an email letting me know with some special instructions which I am passing on to everyone.
4. Add the following line just under the -tag in your template (that’s needed for compatability with ie6&7 and for the avatar-display):

I was looking for a CB "Featured User" module but couldn't find one. I saw this one and contacted the developer to see if he could add a random user choice in selecting which profile(s) to show. He was able to modify the original module in just a few hours.
This module is very configurable and an excellent addition to my website. I haven't gotten it to dispaly the user's avatar yet (this is an option you have when setting up the module) but I am sure I will be able to work this out.
Thanks for a great module!
