CBJuice Extension Specific Addon

This COM manages user profiles in the Community Builder environment in Joomla. The original CBJUICE package supports Joomla 1.0 and Joomla 1.5. It facilitates the editing of the user and comprofiler fields using a CSV file as input. This version provides limited support for JUGA. The original version is essentially stable. No more features are planned.

CBJUICE2 is a complete rewrite of the original concept. The new version includes delete by CSV and other useful features. This new version makes substantial use of the excellent CB API. CBJUICE2 supports only Joomla 1.5 and 1.6 and 1.7-2.5. It’s use in 1.6 REQUIRES the stable version of Joomla 1.6 and CB Version 1.4 or later. Joomla 1.7/2.5 requires CB 1.7 or later. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO use earlier versions of 1.6 or CB in combination because of changes in the ACL. We have tested the component as thoroughly as possible but NO warranty is offered. The newest version supports multiple usertypes in 1.7 and also limits the fields in the save function.
Please note, the support forum and the latest version are always on joomlacode at
http://joomlacode.org/gf/project/cbjuice
Please use the correct version for your respective version of Joomla.

This component saved me a lot of time, but still has some problems with other delimiters than the standard one. Won't work with semicolons (and as i use a german excel to generate csv files i do have them as delimiters). But after a quick search and replace you have a wonderful component to import users.

Works really great. The interface might need a little face lift though, and I couldn't get the exclude field to work, but it doesn't matter.

This component saved my father ALOT of work.

Cheers

The exclude fields currently works only with the "process option" on the main screen since it is possible to also enter the excluded fields on that screen. I plan to modify the code to pickup the exclude option values by default on the save menu item when I have time. However, as this is a free component, that will have to wait until I have a bit of free time.

We love CB Juice;; simple clean and it WORKS!!! One suggestion would be to expand the report download capabilities; ie. arrange data fields, limit fields, etc in some basic report format..
Thanks so much for what you have done.... Great job...

Installed on Joomla 1.5.15 with no problems.
I then did an Export of the user fields to check the csv file, and used that as a template in Openoffice.Org, created a csv file and successfully added over 3,000 users with no problems.
Also made changes to user data in my spreadsheet, regenerated a csv and updated the users with no problems at all.

Thanks for an Excellent Component

I just installed this extension and I already love it! I can click one button and the member list is downloaded to my computer in csv format. And it appears to be very easy to upload additional members too!

I had to download Open Office first before I could get a good csv-file, but after that no problems at all! It saved me a lot of time. Thanks!

I have tried this one and works excellent!

There is one issue I have found, the CB User ID is not retained or at least there is no option to retain the CB User ID during export and import.

After my successful import and export, my kunena forum threads were pointing to different users as result.

You are trying to use the package for use that it was not intended to fulfill. If you are doing a migration of a site, it is much better to move tables with migration tools that link packages and associated tables. That is mysql work. If you are not sure how to do that, try to find a firm to support you. (p.s. I don't= cbjuice is a hobby).

CBJuice does not modify the userid because there is no guarantee that it will be the same if you are moving users between sites via an add. I can consider a user-beware option to userthe userid on an ADD only. It could lead to significant corruption. Put this kind of comment in the help forum and we will see what other users suggest.

This extension just saved me (and therefore, my client) a whole bunch of time. I was trying to figure out how I was going to pre-populate their user and CB tables with their existing data. I figured I'd have to write several queries and push data all over to get it to work.

That's when I found CBJuice. It did ALL of the work for me, and did it absolutely perfectly. All I had to do was name my fields in my TXT import file to match the user/CB field names and CBJuice did the rest. Perfectly imported and set up all of my custom CB data!

Not only that, but it allowed me to define a custom email to automatically be sent to each user imported, letting them know exactly what was done. This was perfect, as it allowed me to give the users specific instructions pertaining to my client's wishes.

A very BIG thank you to the developers of CBJuice!!!

I have installed and used CBJuice and couldn't be more pleased.

I was migrating users from an old version of a website site to a new one and it was a piece of cake.

I did not have a very large list to import but the time it saved me and the auto notifications to members was awesome.

(I would never use the term "great tool" in any other context but this)

I've just imported over 5000 users into CB for a client site and it all went smoothly. I tried other import tools but this one just works.

I have been using this component and it has saved me a lot of time.
I do miss some functionality though:

It would be great to be able to edit the Default Email Text. You can do this but every time I do a test I loose my set-up text. I always comes back to the default version.

Also I would love to edit the ACAjoom subscibers too. I don't know if this is possible but now I don't get this newsletter info in the export file. And I have to manually add all the new imported users to have them added to the mailinglist. Could this be done through CBjuice it would be perfect!!

For anyone wanting to import and update a membership list of user details into CB this is essential. There isn't much in the way of documentation as it doesn't need any as it's very intuitive and does exactly what it promises.

The level of checking and validation of data as it is loaded (or not if it is wrong) is impressive.

The developer responded very quickly to an install issue I had, and with his help I managed to prove it was an ISP issue, which they could quickly address with the information we supplied.

Many Thanks

It is a wonderful extension. I used it first on my Joomla site 1.0x, and when I migrated to 1.5.9 I installed the beta3 which worked incredibly well. One of the features I like the most is the ability to send (or not) a message to the user which includes username and password. Therefore it is very useful for resetting passwords, updating user information, and importing or reimporting users

Even for relatively small imports, this saves a mess o' time. The import was flawless and the auto-notification e-mailer was a pleasantly surprising plus. Highly recommended.

CBJuice works as described and it's easy to use. I just used it to migrate 10,000 users from a ColdFusion site to a new Joomla 1.5.7 site. It was ridiculously easy. Thanks for a wonderful tool!

With a tight deadline building a large community site I needed to import over 4,000 users from an existing (non Joomla) website.

I did get an error with the current build but found a quick fix on CB forum at www.joomlapolis.com/component/option,com_joomlaboard/Itemid,/func,view/catid,58/id,71901/#71901 which I passed on to Paul the developer for CBJUICE and he replied promptly and was very helpful.

Give it a go!!! It will save you days and days of work!
Well done Paul

I have used this tool to import thousands of users with numerous fields in addition to the core fields. I was very impressed with how easy and solid it was. I expected to encounter bugs of sort with this level of usage, but have found it more stable that similar import tools I have used elsewhere.

I hope the ability to change user accounts' Enabled/Disabled settings via CSV will be added, but really have no complaints whatsoever. Kudos to the developer!

I have been using an external newsletter program for one of my websites and that forced my visitors to register twice. Obviously this was a huge inconvenience, and loading 4k+ users manually was going to take forever.
I googled for this type of component and that's how I found CBJuice. Now I got it working perfectly with my Community Builder and Vemod Newsletter.
The only con was that I had to spend 5 more minutes than I would have wanted to figure out the correct order for the csv field values. IOW, no big deal, it works, it's great and i'm happy. Thanx!!
