When a user selects a Country from the dropdown list the corresponding State dropdown list will be populated with the Country specific States and if no States can be found the plugin will convert the State dropdown box into a text box for user input.
The CB Country and State Dropdown plugin works in the same way in the user Profile section (View and Edit),in the administrator back end under Community Builder's User Management and in User Lists.
This used to be a great addon for CB, however in the past months CB has released many new versions and so has Joomla.

This is simply untrue. The plugin has been tested against the latest version of Joomla (1.7.3) and CB (1.7.1). If you have a specific problem please lodge a support ticket on my site and I will be glad to attend to it. Just keep in mind that support is available Mon - Fri 9am - 5pm Australian Eastern Standard Time.
This plugin solved all issues of country state ajax enabled field in our website. It would have much better if developer would have given third dropdown for city also.

Thank you for the feedback. I have begun rewritting the plugin form the ground up and have moved the Country and State info out of the js files and into a database table which will allow me to introduce a city option as well.
Great plugin!Very useful for search by state or country.I had a problem with my website and developer replied my in some hours and solved my problem!!
Having countries and states/provinces in pull-downs is a must to keep misspellings and abrv out of your data that would otherwise trip up the search. This extension makes it easy. Just make sure you remember to follow the directions to keep the country datafield before the state. I had the plug-in working for a couple of months, when it stopped working because I forgot that little instruction. Reordered them and everything was good again. This plug-in is an excellent and required piece of functionality.
This plugin provides a functionality lacking in CB. Let users select Country and/or State is important for a community web portal. Support is excellent. Within less than 24 hours an installation issue was fixed (and was not an issue of the script per se). Feature request are added in no time. For example Flags pictures.
