The Joomla! Extensions Directory ™

I run a directory site with a few thousand listings.A couple of years ago I came across this extension and thought it was just about displaying a map of all your users or directory entries. Nice but not essential.

Anyway on looking at converting to Sobipro I found a recommendation for Geocode Factory in their forums so thought it worth the the small investment to see what it could do.

It took a couple of hours to experiment with all the different settings and one support ticket which was quickly sorted.

I was very impressed with the results and now we have a simple and intuitive way for people to find their local listings and the map is a bonus!

Geocode Factory is a great component in the combination with Jomsocial. I love to work with, good support. There are minor things which will hopefully and surely be upgraded. I expect a great future for this component.

I've used this plugin before with my joomla 1.5 sites and thought I'd try it on one of my Joomla 1.6 sites, running Community Builder. Works perfectly! The hardest thing I had to do was track down a google maps api, which you can get here:

I must admit, Joomla is not my best but on examining a demo of this awesome plugin I had to have it. I'm doing a state wide site for volunteers. When getting it up and running was more my ignorance around Joomla and CB, like not having sample data installed ( which included logistics like address,city and postcode) well no wonder I had problems.... but the patient and conscientious support behind this plug in never left me alone until it was working 100% for my needs. No problem with the plugin but i guess clients have differing levels of understanding but if you take this on, and I recommend the pro version (hey it's less than a case of beer) do it.... thanks guys... you are the best.

Installed and configured Map and Geocode plugin on a 600 members closed Community Builder site. Installation and configuration was a snap. Excellent supplier! Ordered Geocode Factory, so we will be able adding some public maps soon.

I initially had some issues getting the plugin to work correct, but the support for this product was awesome! I reported my issue and they had it fixed within no time flat. Thanks for the wonderful plugin and all of your help.

I pay for the PRO version and is great and very easy to use. I really recommend this plugin, and have a great support.

I have been searching for a way to display users location on a map in their profile...not just in a giant group map.

I needed something automated as my community has a staggering amount of members.


upon my first installation, I could not figure out the plugin, but it turned out that another map component was interfering...as it was called geocode as well.

after proper un-installation of the old geocode and installation of the new GEOcodeFactory CB Plugin , It worked!

The free version works very well.
You just have manualy edit your map marker...the paid verison (which is a full component)
will grab the marker automatically.

it is very simple and easy to use.

1. you install the plugin to cb
2. set a tab for it
3. match up the fields with your cb address info fields
example cb_address, cb_city, cb_state..etc.
4. then publish.
5. on the front end of the user profile, you simply edit the profile the newly created map tab and place your marker on your location..then click "fetch coordinates" then click save
6. you new googlemap will appear in the tab window ..it worked flawlessly on the first try

I had a ton of questions and reviewed many google map programs.

Cedric the developer was the only one who answered my pre-purchase questions fully,clearly and wihtin a short timeframe.

I was interested in some features that his software did not offer, but he showed me a work-around for my request.

the only feature that I wanted, which was not possible was to have multiple map markers for one profile as my members own multiple retail store locations.

However, I bought it anyways, because it works solidly.

BOTTOM LINE:
this is an easy to use FREE program and adds a map to your members profiles. By adding on the paid component, you get even more benefits such as having a larger map with all them members.
You can even customize the little popups on each members marker.

the cb_plugin is free and will work without the component, but is a manual edit.
if you want a fully automated system.

then just buy the full package, it costs less than $30 usd.

After looking for some Googlemaps integration for CB I just installed this plugin and it works perfect. The CB-Tab is exactly what I wanted. I guess after finding this so easy to setup I'll try the professional version aswell. I'm sure it's worth the money...expect my review of this soon.

I used the free joogle map plugin on my joomla 1.0.x website and was sad to see it had been discontinued & would not be available for use on joomla 1.5.x.

I tried all the new map plugins and found they were nowhere near adequate for my purpose.

I was quite pleased with the Geocode Plugin (map on CB Profile tab) and so upgraded to the professional version to have the separate map for all members menu item. I had a couple of issues I could not solve and so wrote to the forum. Within hours I had a reply. When the issue was a bit more complex the developer solved my problems within 24 hours.

I have been looking for a map solution for over a year now! This is it. This product is perfect and works in conjunction with the Geofactory Component that publishes user lists. This is exactly what so many people looking for a map solution need and there are non that work well out there and are supported...trust me I have been searching.

Cedric helped me when I had trouble installing this product and figuring out the settings. He told me that he is working on the documentation, but the fact of the matter is, his customer service is top notch. He even troubleshoot my problem between Christmas and New Years and had a solution for me within 12 hours.

It took me a quick minute to get this extension going, but there isn't much to say. It works. It took about a minute or two to install and get working. And I didn't have any issues. It would be nice if you could put in the address and it would take you there, but I believe that is in the Pro version. For a freebie, is is definitely a keeper!

Dear Cedric, I've waited and waited for this plugin to come out and when it finally does, it's just superb and as everything that I need!
I run an guesthouse/room-for-rent and property infomation website and this plugin works like charm! Very easy to configure, I have it up and running in no time!

Just what I was looking for. I'm a sponsor in my local soccer club, www.hb.dk (in Danish). We are working on a sponsor site to improve cooperation amongst sponsors. This extension is brilliant for finding a sponsor you are going to visit.
