With this plugin it is easy to create a download directory or a documents directory using SOBI2.
It allows adding an unlimited number of files to every entry.
The number of allowed files for an entry, the maximum file size and the allowed extensions are adjustable in the back-end.
For every uploaded file a license can be assigned which has to be confirmed if the user wants to download the file.
The list of files for an entry can be displayed in the details view and/or in the category view. For both views an extra download template exist which can be customized.
In the front-end Add-Entry Form and in the edit entry tab in back-end an "Upload" button is added. Clicking on the button opens a popup window where the files can be uploaded and the license can be assigned.
This plug-in is great as long as you don't mind any deleted files remaining on the server which makes it very inefficient, especially that each file is placed in it's own folder. Imagine trying to figure out which files still belong to an entry and which have been deleted, it's pretty much impossible.
So until the code is improved so the deleted data is also removed this is not a great application...

Other developers looking to thrive in the Joomla community should study how sigsui.net gets it done. The quality of support from them spoils me for almost every other module we use.
I love the versatility of the Sobi2 Component, and the download plugin was just what I needed to get my files in order!

I think just such GPL extensions can force the commercials to switch to GPL like businesses.
