VMQuote allows users to quickly and accurately prepare a customer quotation by accessing the products in virtuemart store. with the powerful component, you can create any quotations for any customers, even for unregister customers, it will create a new account for them when you finish creating the quotation, and email the customers the account and quotation with pdf format document. After the new customer login in your website and accept the quotation, it will create a new order automatically and wait for customer finishing the payment.
It also provide the invoice function, you can generate the invoice of pdf format at the backend, if you want to track the quotations and analysis the statistic, you can export all kind of tables about quotation,invoices,unpaid order.
It is a Stardand joomla component for virtuemart, so don’t worry about the edition of your virtuemart, the installation is absolutely simple, the usage is absolutely easy.
I wanted to be able to have a customer in the front end log in, choose products, choose quote instead of purchase, then the backend shop owner sees that there is a quote, and can edit the pricing and send back a revised quote. Then the customer can accept it and go through with normal purchase but there was nothing available. VMQuote was the closest but was only backend, so I contacted the developer and they made it happen for a very reasonable fee. Very pleased with the expertise and service of these guys. Happily recommend.
The extension itself is good: does what it says, it just needs a little "polishing" here and there (somewhere it doesn't use JText so you have to edit core files to translate some of the text).
But what i am really happy about is the fact that the developer is very, very responsive. He's quick to help, and open to suggestion, and he's available for customization at a very reasonable price.

I was looking for a means of collecting and sending out quotations in Virtuemart, and after waiting a long time this extension finally got released. It works great, is standalone (so hack-free), and it offers a good means of managing quotations. Support from the author was good; after I'd purchased this extension, I got in touch with the author (Kevin) and asked him to make some feature additions and changes as my project required, and he sent me patched versions with the features I had asked for shortly after.
The only reason I'm leaving a 4-star rating is because there is some room for improvement, like a way of the customer requesting items for a quotation from VM's front end as oppose to the admin being the one to make all the quotations, but for what it offers it's a great extension, and the ONLY quotation extension for Virtuemart to date. :)
One other thing: despite this component being marked as only compatible with Joomla 1.5 Legacy, it is a FULLY 1.5 NATIVE extension. (I mentioned this to Kevin before, he's not yet updated the compatibility icon...)
