The VirtueMart Purchasing Rules component allows administrators to create Rules to restrict or enable purchasing of individual products and/or categories in VirtueMart, with custom messages for each when a rule is violated. This is highly adaptable and flexible component that can support a multitude of purchasing situations.
For example:
•Set up a rule that only members of the "Preferred Customer" group may purchase items in Category 2
•Begin to allow the purchase, or stop the purchase, of certain products as of a particular date or time
•Create and enforce VirtueMart purchasing dependencies such as "buy 2, get 1 free product" promotions
•Rules can have a custom error message that the customer will see when an attempted purchase violates the rule
** Purchasing Rules Beta v1.4 is nearing RC status ** Version 1.4 allows you to use all normal Purchasing Rules features plus has the ability to HIDE products and categories, integration with AWO Coupons basic and PRO, automatic add-product-to-Cart feature, and lots more.
This component supports two configurable options to enforce Purchasing Rule permissions and Rule exemptions by user id and/or group:
1) Standard VirtueMart shopper groups
2) JUGA groups. The "JUGA" ACL extension is owned and published by Dioscouri Design. You must install and configure JUGA (in addition to VirtueMart) in order for the optional JUGA group exemption feature to work.

Exactly what I needed. Didn't get it to work right a way so i contacted customer support and the were VERY helpfull and fixed the problem. Worth every penny!

Now i'm so happy because this GREAT extension is perfect and i save money(i spend money for some virtuemart extensions to hide products but there are not perfect as Purchasing Rules) ...very easy to use.
In french, we said: "C'EST GéNIAL" , that mean PERFECT.
The support is really too fast and i love it.

As I was looking for an extension to take control for virtuemart categories by vm usergroups and found this great extension. Version 1.3 does exactly that. Specific categories were only shown to specific usergroups.
As there were some problems with installation and configuration the developer supported me within hours and didn't give up untill it was solved.
I advise this extension to everyone who wants to controll vm by rules.

This really helped me out and the developer is very active on this project and interested in feedback and helping. They represent all that is good in "open source". Worth the money.
