Assigning your products to multiple categories is the easiest way to classify your products to different,multiple sections.This way the categories can act like product features or product types.
With catfilters categories groups can consist filters. So selecting categories from different filters is giving exactly what a user is searching for.

2) Ability to use category dependencies. So after selecting a category to get it's sub categories for unlimited depth. (Using the progressive categories filter module)
3) Range Filters for Price, Width, Height, Length and Weight.

6) Custom Price Filtering using textfields (From, To).
7) Filters display Configuration (Checkboxes, drop-down list, radio buttons or links).
8) Multiple Product Sorting options.
9) Configuration of which filtering options will be displayed (Categories Filters , Range Filters,Manufacturers, Keywords search Custom Price Filtering).
10) Statistics Tool that tracks users trends. Analyze what users are looking for, to make your users profile and form better the inventory of your eshop.

As you may know a product could be assigned to multiple categories.
So lets say that you assign the product 't-shirt-a' to the categories: Adults, Sports
With catfilters you could create a filter that consists of all VM categories that concern the age: Teen, Adult , Old
And a Filter that consists of all VM categories that concern types : Casual, Sports
The end user is able to select 1 or multiple ages and/or 1 or multiple types to filter the products.
Could also combine the categories filters with a variety of other filtering options (look above) for example price ranges or manufacturers.

Imagine a car parts store where the user has to select a Make e.g. BMW then has to select a Model e.g. Z8 and then a year e.g. 2000.
Each selection (except the first) should depend on the previous one.
Now with the progressive categories this is easy, fetching the sub categories of a selected category.
The other filtering options of catfilters could also used additionally.

This extension helped me to show sophisticated category system of my Virtuemart store in an easy way. Customers can browse categories and apply filters quickly and without any problems. The results shown are 100% accurate, I was totally shocked by what this extension can do for me. This is a great way of making your VM store more professional and user friendly. Nice extension - i use progressive cat filter and it works really well, I had an issue with the translation but the support was quick and nice.
What its missing is that u have to manually edit the browse_page in order to show the results nice. Its not hard but u have to know a bit of php, but with the support this is done easily.
I recommend this extension as it can be installed and work easily and smoothly

Each question had an answer to the same day.
You must know a little php if you want to change the default template. But it is relatively easy with the support.
In my opinion, the only problem is that the developer did not set up a forum system for customers.

1. This is an great extension, and well needed. It is well written, and intuitive.
2. I had a couple of problems (my end) support was fast, and accurate.
3. Combined with a couple of their other extensions, I have a fantastic solution.

I purchased this extension and it had little problem converting prices to the currency of my country but after emailing the developer about it he fixed the problem right a way.
The thing is that ECB (European Central Bank) currency converter plugin in Virtuemart doesnt convert correctly to my currency so i use Oanda convertor plugin that fetches exchange rates from a different source and that works well. I told the developer about it and he emailed me a few hours later an updated file in the extension that fetches exchange rates from Oanda instead of ECB. The extension converts correctly now and works well.

Great complement. Easy installation. Works filtering inside all categories. I have asked for support four times and the answer was on time.
It's like the developer had in mind my needs when he was developing it!

It really works without almost no effort from the side of the system integrator and from the side of the customer, without the need of any hacks, mods or change of habits and philosophy by the side of the customer!
Also very cheap to what it offers!
