redVMPRODUCTFINDER is licensed under GPL v.2 but requires a subscription to download.
i thing this product is very good because you can configure the search option with all you want and need, and it work fine.
The only problem is the basic css layout, and lack of documentation to customize it. I'm not a programmer and I find it unfortunate that there have no simple documentation to understand how.
I posted on the forum but no reply, and I'm always wait the replie of the developper. Too bad the support is not more effective than that paid to download the extension (29 € for 3 months).
It is inconceivable to make product wich are note easely customisable for nwebee like me, or at least with a correct layout.
So good component, but i hope you know css coding otherwise...
This is a great product and I recommend it to any Virtuemart store holders.
As well as using the form, we have linked directly to search results as another way to make it easy for customers to find whats in the store.
As for customer support, over the months we have given feature requests, which have been implemeted and have submitted non-standard support requests which were happily done.
The Import facility work well on first use but click again and it duplicates all the VM Products in its "Association" table. The code needs changing to only import "new" VM products.
It needs a synchronization button to add/remove VM Products to "Association" table so you can manually add your custom filter tags. The Association Table display needs more work. To display more than 20 products you need to select "all" - a nightmare for the previous reviewer with 25,000 products. I've changed the code to list products in alphabetical order - this has help a bit.
It's the only VM Search/filter I've found so far that can handle "Child" VM Products.
This component has so much potential - it saves playing with Product Types and attributes in VM
As the screenshots and out information about VMproductfinder shows its a component for building your own frontend product search system that is completely indepedanant of VM.
This means that you can make unique arbitrary search options that has no real relation to your product descriptions, attributes or titles but can function as a way of making new path ways into your webshop (and as all output is 100% SEO/SEF optimized it works as landingspages too) where customers can find say all products meant for Cold temperatures, that are red, or any other form of search type and tag that you can think of.
This is in general a component to generate more sales in your webshop and to generate a lot of very effect search engine optimized content that summarizes the webshop content in a completely non-arbitrary way in comparision so the regular category/product releation hierachy or straight up product search.
Of cause this will be _a lot_ of work with 25.000 products - but if you truely want to maximize the potentiel of your webshop and also want a great tool for building landing pages that can be linked to from blog posts, news content etc. this is a GREAT component.
Ps. Giving 1 star votes because you didnt spent time reading the descriptions or looking on the images before downloading doesnt really give any realistic view on what redVMPRODUCTFINDER does for other user and ruins the point of JED so try and be more realistic if you vote on any other components.
