Editor's Note
  • This extension requires registration to download.
I purchased this extension about 6 months ago. I have had no problems with it. It is simple straight forward and does what it is suppose to do.

I run it on my site and a client of mine wants it for his site.

I did have one issue, the support team jumped in and the problem was solved in a timely manner.

I was looking for a clean no BS solution for a RSS reader. I read the reviews and finally came upon this component to install. The only downfall is you have to buy it to try it. Install happens without a glitch but you could have easily used a free RSS solution instead of wasting money on this. Granted it pulls articles over but the backend in Joomla does the same thing. It does not allow you to set where you can put the RSS feed - it just pulls them over. I am seeking a refund.

Sent an email on their site for support but they never answered. They have a ticketing system on their site and they said they never got it after repeated attempts. When you pay 45.00 US for a component you had better get good support – I do not support this component and the developers will realize that they failed horribly. You do not steal from people with sub quality work. Stay away and do not buy until they get they act together – go for a free option or at the very least use Joomla backend news feed.
There is no order to the feeds that come in - all you can do is publish or unpublish - no module placement - support is non existent. Look elsewhere. Slick RSS is good and it is FREE.
It appears that this extension works but it is limiting could use more functions to make it worth the price they want. You can find free RSS solutions as opposed to paying close to 50 dollars for this limited extension. Better off using Joomla news feed .
The developers do not answer support emails unless you request a refund. They need to learn business sense and how to support the customer.

Absolute headache! While it works well on a clean install (no older versions) if you try to upgrade the thing is a complete mess. Not only will it not uninstall correctly, but if you try to put it back on you will get all kinds of errors in the install and not even able to put the thing back! No use asking for help either, I had a problem with the component when I debugged my site. I submitted a ticket to them on May 17, they responded with an auto message saying "a developer would look at it". Never heard anything from them and on July 18 they close the ticket cause "they hadn't heard from me."?

I can't believe I wasted good money on this thing. Product doesn't upgrade and support is well off on vacation somewhere. Go elsewhere for this type of component!
Got this extension last week. It worked great for me. I was having problem with the cron jobs but joomclan support fixed it . I will recommend this to all joomla users.

This component is obviously (once you download it you'll see) worth 50 times what the developer charges so without being redundant and repeating what everyone has already said I'll say this - STOP THINKING about it and just do it... BLOW'S the competition away...

The value with working the "clan" is their impeccable service and support - they obviously take great pride in not only the products they develop but also how their clients utilize their products...

Joomclan has won my business for life...
I had no complaints about the component but one bug was causing an issue and it was to do with the margins around feed item images being stripped. I raised a support call but was having no luck but suddenly weeks later Hassan emailed me to say he finally found a problem with Joomla's core parser. He emailed me a patch file for me which fixes the problem.
when i enable cron job , my site is down, not display anythings, i have over 40 rss link.
but joomrss always is the best rss to article for joomla ,
This is an outstanding extension. It is easy to install and configure. Documentation is well-written. Once installed and configured, it runs with no problems. What more could you ask?
I purchased this component yesterday and today got 50 feeds in my site without any issue. I am in love with this already. Support installed the component for me in 5 minutes.
JoomRSS sllows you to automatically bring in RSS feed content and have each record automatically inserted as an article in the section and category you define. The body of the article will vary based on the specific feed you select - some only provide a short summary and others will give a full page. You have the option to display the source page as a new window on the third-party site, as an i-frame on your own domain, or even as a wrapper if you really want to keep visitors on your site to the maximum extent. (But this can be a no-no with some content providers, so be cool). There are a lot of options for displaying, and JC is really striving to constantly improve the product with frequent updates and fast response to questions or problems. A great value - we have already purchased 20 licenses for JoomRSS and will probably get more.

We run a site where we post unique content irregularly every few days. That content is usually topical for that length of time. We wanted to add several news feeds that would relate to our unique content as a way to freshen up the site and keep our clients posted on news developments related to our content.

JoomRSS is perfect for our needs. The ability to have the feed content reduced to Joomla content articles that can be edited or have comments attached to them is perfect for us. Additionally, we were20particularly excited about this product because of its built-in iFrame and Wrapper features that work to keep visitors on our site. Prior to discovering JoomRSS I tinkered with and modified the joomla core newsfeed code to display articles in a popup/lightbox. This method was tedious to say the least.

Version 1.8 is a Beta version that gave me a little difficulty with my service provider. The best way to explain it is to say there was a minor incompatibility between JoomRSS and my web host's supported PHP permissions.

Once I contact the developer he expressed genuine concern and worked with me to resolve the problem. Quickly.

JoomClan is offering an excellent product with JoomRSS and it is clear to me that the developer supports his clients and products. And, I recommend it to anyone interested in using news feeds who wants a little more than just a list of linked titles that direct people to other sites.

This product gives it all to you in one package.

This is actually a really useful and easy to use extension, upon installing it I came to a problem (by my mistake) and after contacting the author by email, he offered to login and fix it, not just the casual email support. After my second support query he responded in 1 minute (not exaggerating, gmail timestamp) with the solution and now the extension is working perfectly.

Highly recommended both for the extension quality and the authors amazing support.
They get an excellent 5 stars, but I have to declare an issue regarding this beta version and it's news feature:

Pros:

1. Now you can choose import or not the name spaces of RSS URLs, what is a cool feature, because avoid a lot of unwanted codes an you get better control over the layout of your feeds display.

2. The show in iframe an wrapped feature is simple genial idea. You can setup a new source feed and forget it in your frontpage and your's visitors won't leave your page, also;

3. You now can embed your ads, like google adwords and others adverts in many layout options.

4. Faster cron jobs (do not slow down the website anymore)

Well, the 5ht feature, must have the code polished to be inserted in pros, by now it's a con:

5. Expiration date: This will be a great tool (when working) since we can easily hit 3k articles in 2 months like I did and have to go every section/category and select alt the articles to archieve one by one?

By now, it's not working very well. The cron jobs, stops responding if you setup or not an expiration date.

But, setting an expirantion date yo can manage a regular time to articles being automaticaly archieved, is nice or what?

I'm pretty sure these little bug is not a big deal for folks from JoomlaClan, they will fix it soon and this will be the next great update of this great RSS Reader or should I say upgrade?

:D

BTW -> Workaroung with the end publishind date: email JoomlaClan and ask for a replacement file without these feature, it's just the same file, just with the commented code, while the release version doens't comes out. ;) This deserve another star -> their support, but it's only 5 !
joomclan.com is fast growing extension community and I have personally used joomrss... I am really loving it. I will recommend this to everybody who is running joomla website.
I purchased this component and found out that it would not work with SEO Advance because I was using title alias for my URLs and JoomRSS didn't set the article alias when the articles are pull in.

I contacted the support team and they have gone out of their way to get the component working the way I need it to and I have been very pleased with the results. They have been very professional and always done what they said. For that I give this component a excellent rating.

I have asked for a couple of more enhancements and they said that they will more then likely be in the next release 1.8. I am looking forward to it.

All other developers that offer paid components should take a close look at how they handle support, because they are awesome.
I purchased this extension to try on two small sub-domains that I use.

The installation was straight forward but when it came to setting it up unfortunately I hit upon some problems. This meant that I could not set up the CRON job and when I tried to do anything I received a 404 error.

However, after contacting the support guys at JC, I have to say they were superb.

They took the time to put things right fully and in the process even upgraded me from 1.5.0 to 1.5.7.

I cannot fault the support for this extension and despite having some slight problems to start with, JoomRSS is now working great.

I am delighted with the extension, delighted with the low cost for it and even more delighted with the great support and service.

Great work and I highly recommend the extension and guys at JC.
This component is great, I would really happy to give 5*, but after easy installation and creating first feed I found that it does not support different encoding (Czech chars in my case). But anyway if you are lazy admin and need to "gather" data from other rss this is a great component. I hope author will repair it soon.

I've wanted a product like this since I first installed Joomla! Installed easy, works easy, GREAT results. This is a great BOON to anyone running a news portal. WELL WORTH the price.

I use this tool to capture news into a special Section, each feed dumping articles into its own Category. Then I can edit the articles as needed -- RSS feeds are so different, out there. This way, I auto-capture the articles, and can edit them as I see fit (mostly I just clean them up, being careful to leave author by-lines) and then I move them to a published area. A dream come true!

I hope you can continue to develop it!
