RSS Scroller 1.5 Module

Rss Scroller is the evolution of a module that had been made by allone consulting for 1.0 version.
It displays, in a Joomla! site, other sources' rss with a sliding effect ( scrolling ).
It works just out the box, but you can set:

* speed (better, it's opposite: delay. An higher value slows the speed);
* sliding direction (upward, downward, leftward and rightward);
* line feed (number of lines in a step);
* charset.

You can show all feed in a module, but, also, you can make more than a copy of the module. Each of them can show different feed. Empy value or "0" (zero) in the Feed, field will show all the feed set in the RSSFeed component, but you can fill this field with one or more RSS' Ids (separated with commas)
The modules supports English language.

This is one of the best RSS scroller I have seen in Joomla. Flexible and easy to use.

But it is far to slow in Google Chrome when using horisontal scrolling. Hopefully this will be fixed.

This is a very nice module, with a smooth scrolling action and the ability to enter numerous feeds. It is just what I was looking for, and I only had one minor suggestion - there is no ability to add a module class suffix, which would have been nice with my RocketTheme templates.

However, I am sorry to report that, when I tried to validate my site with the W3C Markup Validation service, this module gave my site 47 errors and 74 warnings.

While I think this module has great potential, and I do not begin to know how much time or effort it would take to correct these errors, clearly this is NOT ready for prime time, or use on any site that seeks valid markup code.

I really hope this will get sorted out in a future version, and I'm sorry to have to give it only a 'Fair' rating at this time.

great module but i have a problem. a message is displayed above the module :

Deprecated: Assigning the return value of new by reference is deprecated in L:\wamp\www\joomla\modules\mod_rss_scroller\mod_rss_scroller.php on line 106

and line 106 is here :

$rssDoc =& new xml_domit_rss_document_lite();

finally it would be great if it could show rss description and small thumbnail.

This is a good extension, I like being able to properly alter the scroll speed and other options.

However, it would be nice if it included an option to remove feed descriptions only and not just both titles and descriptions...

This worked very well right out of the box. I was able to set up multiple scrolling feeds in a status bar from different sources that are pulled directly from the native 1.5 news feeds. It will pull the titles (optionally), but I could not figure out how to format JUST the titles to stack them so I had to implement another way to do it (although it could be my CSS skills lacking):

The site/support is in italian, but the download instructions are in english, and it installed with no problem. Note that the delay speeds differ from browser to browser. Great module, THX!

This is a useful component that is easy to use and works fine with most feeds. I have had trouble registering on the forum for support but it might be my lack of italian language skills. I have one problem now where special characters that are in the feed using & # 8 2 1 6 ; notation (without the spaces) are not translated to the appropriate characters (in this case a single left quote). The Joomla news feed components display them correctly. This won't spoil this component for you if your feeds do not contain characters like that so give it a try.

Two hints:
To add the Module Class Suffix field to this component for the ability to style it, add this line to the module XML file.

Also, I had trouble getting internal RSS feeds created from the Joomla site to display, so I added them to feedburner then added the feedburner links to News Feeds. It worked fine.

This module worked right "out-of-the-box", all I needed to do was tell it which newsfeed to use. I set up a JEvents RSS feed and it works perfectly. I really like the scrolling feature. Nice going guys!

Installed without any problems. Scrolls nicely. Takes multiple feeds and displays well. Installs in English although the site is in Italian.
Thanks for the great app!
