Ping.FM Plugin
Keep your user community informed when an article in Joomla! is created or being updated using Ping.FM plugin. It allows you to send a customized status message to all your social network pages like Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn etc. using the cool service of Ping.FM.
I did not fully explorer the potentional of ping.fm and the plugin is the first version released. But I will keep on exploring capabilities of ping.fm and am planning on extending it with more features. If you have suggestions please drop me an e-mail.
You need cURL to use this plugin and a ping.fm account which is free of charge!
I am planning to create an update in the future in where the text can be posted but please keep in mind that Ping.FM only allows you to send an x number of characters. Nevertheless I see the purpose of sending the actual text as opposed to the message you can edit yourself. By the way, the link is converted by Ping.FM and not by the plugin and you getting no support from Ping.FM sounds very familiar to me as I am trying to get my Application API key validated for almost a year now!
I tried inserting API keys etc but it just doesn't publish to ping.
Looks to be a great plugin but alas does not work.
I would like to help you and might have missed your email or submittal of your question/info about the problem. If you still need me to look at the problem please forward me the debug info you'll get when enabling the debug option of the plugin.
Most of the time adding you're own Application API key in the plugin's configuration solves the problem. It should be optional but since ping.fm did not validated my Application API key you should generate one and use you're own together with your user API key. You can generate your own at http://ping.fm/developers/request/.
Also remember to disable the debug option since the message will not actually be send in debug mode.
Im glad to see a joomla extension for Ping.fm. I use ping daily to keep all of my social networks on the same page. I would like to see this extension expand to autopost when I add or update virtuemart products as well. Keep up the good work!
I am working on a website right now using virtuemart and will probably extend the plugin so it works together with virtuemart.
Initially, we had an issue with getting the API key resolved and a few other minor bugs but the developer turned it around very quickly. Thanks again, Dominique!
This plugin is already generating added traffic to 3 of my sites and was so simple to install, even a caveman could do it.
