Twitter Status ComponentPluginLanguage

Twitter Status updates Twitter account using article title & article's URL once you add new article to Joomla! It works very silence in background – you won't probably notice that something is adding to Twitter.
Only indication of work is longer than usually page loading (+1 second longer), and message “Twitter account has just been updated” after saving article.
Twitter Status support Community Builder & User Meta System Plugin (you can let your users tweet or just trace what articles they are adding), MyBlog (2.0.x, 3.0.x), and EventList (you can directly inform people about event using Twitter).
In message you can attach URL to article/event - of course there's support of Joomla! SEF and sh404SEF for addresses!

The biggest problem I have with the product is that the developer's Bit.Ly login and api key were hard coded into the source. Though hacking this took minutes, I was uncomfortable with the developer have sole access to the bit.ly click stats. I would have preferred a method to enter my bit.ly username and api key in the administration.

Also the script is a little buggy for a commercial release. The site I used this component on uses hundreds of categories under 5 sections. The setup of the component auto selects categories under the clicked sections. Only about 1/3-2/3 of my categories would be selected. Additionally, when I hand selected each of categories, only 1/3-2/3 of my category selections would be saved.

In short, if you would prefer that no one else have access to click statistics, then I would recommend finding another solution.

Well documented, Very clean interface, Data Validation with preview during setup. This was a delight to work with. Worked the first time. Worth the money. I tried some of the free twitter extensions and got nowhere. This is a must have for auto tweeting. Has a function to allow different accounts to twitter. Haven't used it yet but interested in seeing if it is as easy as the basic use of the extension.

First tried AutoTweet, but deleted it minutes later because of it doesn't do Joomla SEF.

Installed TS and was up in under a minute.

Very impressed with the backend, too.

All Joomla apps should be this well done!

I highly recommend this program. I looked at a lot of programs to automatically post to Twitter and this one worked the best.

The backend admin area is very well designed and exceptionally easy to use.

Because of how large my site was, the program couldn't monitor my whole site. I notified the developer of my problem and he redid the programming twice until it worked properly.

It works great and is well worth the few bucks you spend on the program.

Took me longer to set up the twitter account than to get this working.

A few moments later, I had my first couple of tweets from Joomla posted. ZERO ISSUES.

Amazing!

I highly recommend this extension. I had a few suggestions for Thomasz 1) Add 3rd party support for SOBI2 and 2) add the ability to use the bit.ly API so that shortened URLs could be tracking in an account. He answered my request within minutes and hopes to have functionality added shortly. Great service and great product. Thank-you!

Twitter Status is a great plugin and indispensible when you want to twitter your items from your Joomla website. Installing on my site was a bit a problem, but Tomasz's service was incredible. Highly recommended!

The support is very fast, very good documentation and everything works as described. Recommended to buy!

The 2.0.1 is exactly what I was looking for. Easy to install. No problem with the Joomla built-in SEF and with delayed publishing articles.
I asked for a few details and Tomasz answered me in a few hours...
I just installed the new version of Twitter Status (2.0.1), and frankly, I think it warrants a higher version number! This is a BIG update over 2.0 in my opinion, as it allows more control over tweeting to both a main account and a user-level account. And it also now works with MyBlog 2.0 (which is more stable, imo). This is an extension that should be standard on most any Joomla site as it improves distribution of articles/blogs significantly!

Lastly, if you have any issues, take a moment to contact Tomasz directly. He provides EXCELLENT support!
Tried using with Search Engine Friendly URLs enabled in Global Config, and the tinyurl links are messed up. Otherwise, works as described, but this is a show-stopper for us.

Problem solved in Twitter 2.0

I still think this is an excellent plugin, but I am trying to get this to work with JobGroc Premium.

The jobs that we post are not considered "articles" so they don't update my twitter account. Would love a way to integrate the two applications, could be hugely powerful to post a job on my site using JobGroc and it automatically post to my twitter feed instantly!

Again, overall excellent way to update articles on twitter.

Could you contact me? ;)

Being impressed by the reviews and also the functionality of this plugin. I tried to check my self. I downloaded the PDF file also from the site. I tried everything but i was not able to make the user layer enabled.

I use CB component and i guess this plugin doesnt suppprt CB component. Hope it will support the same in future.

Nice idea thoughm but disappointment for the CB users.

I think only this plugin serve my need to play with Twitter. Easy to use and didn't have any problem.

Excellent plugin, installs easily and work great.

Only one complaint, when the article is submitted and you check the Attaching URL to status option as yes, the url that is posted is a tinyurl. It would be great if it would use the real url of your website.
Owner's reply

Attaching real addresses is available in Twitter Status 2.0. There are options to attach real URL, shortened URL using Bit.ly, shortened URL using TinyURL.com

I'm amazed that this is the only plugin on the entire extension site with this functionality. All the other Twitter plugins are the other way around.

I'm very pleased with how the plugin works, it does exactly what it says on the tin. However it would be even better if it would post to twitter if something is published through the Content Submit component.

My site has a large user submitted section and it would be awesome if I could send out what they submit on the sites Twitter account too!

Good plugin...

BUT...

it does not work with article that have a delayed publishing date...(well, it works and send to twitter, but refering an article that is not yet published...)

Problem solved in Twitter Status 2.0

This is perfect! Like an RSS for Twitter. I searched for it for a while, and did see this app listed, but passed it by because the name didn't indicate what it does. There are other apps with similar names that display recent Tweets on the Joomla site. This is very different - it publishes new articles TO Twitter.

I would suggest TwitterPoster or something like that to better indicate it's actual (and wonderful) function.
Thanks!
Scott
Its a nice plugin and the does the work which I was looking for.

But there seems to be a problem with my site. It submitted properly to Twitter by generating a TinyURL but when clicked on it, it leads to the page using the Joomla version of the link and not the SEF version of the link.

Can you help me in solving this out?

Thank you again for the plugin :)
