googleWeather ModulePlugin

Google Weather plugin is a small plugin using the Google weather forecast api to display the current weather everywhere in your content. The plugin was made to be as easy to use and flexible as possible. Type WEATHER CITY,COUNTY inside a curly bracket and the current weather will be displayed in your content. The view of Google Weather plugin can be easily customized by CSS.

Version 1.9.1:
* FIXED: Google changed the icon data in the xml file. We recommend to update. Can display the icon directly from the google website now.

Version 1.7:
* Fixed 1 minor Bug. Plugin and Module are comptaible with Joomla 1.5 and 1.6 now.

Version 1.6:
* Fixed issue with PHP-warning "Node does not exist" if weather data is incomplete.

Version 1.5:
* We included a new standard iconset which is clear, modern and scalable.
* You can choose between different icon-styles and add new sets in separate folders.
* A custom custom error message which is displayed, when the Google service is down can be defined.

Version 1.4:
We included a recalculation for the temperature. If you no choose a unit in the plugin or module configuration the desired unit will be shown regardless of the language.

Version 1.3:
* Changed th encoding of the xml-string. Version 1.3 should display the chars of more languages like russian or arab correctly.

Version 1.2:
* Select what kind of temperature-unit is displayed in current condition part (C,F or both units)
* Switch off any kind of error message, if the forecast xml could not be retrieved.

Version 1.1 displays a small 3-day forecast below the current condition, if demanded.

Version 1.0 should run with PHP4 also and tries to use the curl-lib if allow_url_fopen is disabled. Because of automatic language detection v1 is usable on multi-language sites.

A module is also available. Download at

It's a great plugin and it works really well.

I was looking for a weather plugin that was simple and works straight away. I also wanted one without branding and link backs as I think those make your site look less professional.

This is spot on. The only grumble is a lack of documentation, but other than that great, thanks.

Hello guys, thanks for this extension. The install and config was quick and easy. However, the date seemed to be off and on the forecast it shows today's date as one of the forecasted dates, which tells me it's using a prior day as its current day. Time zone and time settings are set right and I confirmed that with a module displaying current date/time.
Any help?

There is two files: module and plugin.
The module is easy but the plugin is not that easy (if you'r a beginner). And if you look for support, they are in German.

Make review by drydenmike in 2009 my words....

Pros:
- Very lightweight
- Nice look
- Small frame
- No adds or links to other pages (like weather.com and others)

Cons:
- No Metric System
- Language selection doesn't seem to work (at least in Portuguese)

My solution:
I use ReReplacer to translate it but there's nothing I can do about the metric system... :S

This is a really nice weather module--fast loading and attractive. But, there's no option to allow users to change the city being shown. For small local sites, this is fine, but for larger sites with users from all around, they want to see their weather, not ours.

Upload the two parts and they install. Set the choices in the plugin, then set the city and display block in the module. For simple weather with icons, it is easy, clean, and just what I needed.

If all you need is a very basic current conditions and temp for the next 3 days, this will work for you perfectly. If you want anything more elaborate, look elsewhere.

Hi,

I try to sent this in support website, but I don't understand german. Sorry for that !
Whatever, It's really nice plugin. I just wondering if it's possible to replace sentences per nice icon in forecast part.
It will be more visual for visitor.

Thanks again for your plugin !

After accessing the extension's web site and using google to translate the page (can't read German) I downloaded and installed the module within minutes and it worked perfectly. A good choice if you are interested in a small display of weather conditions for your location.

Install is very easy. The layout works and integrates well with the Joomla template. It could be better if the Temp setting could be translated to degrees Celsius in the forecast area of the display.
Thanks for an excellent module!

Works fine even for small parishes and looks good. After disabling language autodetect no need to translate, and metrics systeem works also. Great!

I added Santo Domingo and works fine, how can I add Punta Cana?

Do you have a list of names that plugin is accepting?
