Google Weather - Plugin ModulePlugin

Google Weather plugin is a small plugin using the google-weather forecast api to display the current weather everywhere in your content. The plugin was made to be as easy to use and flexible as possible. Type WEATHER CITY,COUNTY inside a curly bracket and the current weather will be displayed in your content. Google Weather plugin can be easily customized by CSS.

Version 1.0 should run with PHP4 also and tries to use the curl-lib if allow_url_fopen is disabled. Because of automatic language detection v1 is usable on multi-language sites.

Version 1.1 displays a small 3-day forecast below the current condition, if demanded.

Version 1.2:
* Select what kind of temperature-unit is displayed in current condition part (C,F or both units)
* Switch off any kind of error message, if the forecast xml could not be retrieved.

Version 1.3:
* Changed th encoding of the xml-string. Version 1.3 should display the chars of more languages like russian or arab correctly.

A module is also available. Download at

Install is very easy. The layout works and integrates well with the Joomla template. It could be better if the Temp setting could be translated to degrees Celsius in the forecast area of the display.
Thanks for an excellent module!

Works fine even for small parishes and looks good. After disabling language autodetect no need to translate, and metrics systeem works also. Great!

I added Santo Domingo and works fine, how can I add Punta Cana?

Do you have a list of names that plugin is accepting?
In my case I installed the module. And unlike the other reviews; there you can choose between Celsius and Fahrenheit.
Very easy to set up without any kind of subscription. Thanks a lot for making this great module available for everybody.

Works like a charm. Had to translate the page to understand the plugin params but worked like a charm!

This would be 5 stars, if the ability to display Celsius output all around in the frontend.

Pros:
- Very lightweight
- Nice look
- Small frame
- No adds or links to other pages (like weather.com and others)

Cons:
- No Metric System
- Language selection doesn't seem to work (at least in Portuguese)

My solution:
I use ReReplacer to translate it but there's nothing I can do about the metric system... :S
The Module;

This would be 5 stars, if the ability for users to set their location permanently was implemented, as well as a way to ensure Celsius output all around in the frontend.

- Google uses Dependable, Accurate weather data - so this module is the only free solution out there, that uses data thats accurate at this point. I truly think that if you are going to post a weather widget on your page, you should be putting one with accurate data at the very least ;)

The plugin;

Great tool for your content, you can show the current weather for anywhere - from anywhere.

This is an easy to use little plugin. I needed to display two city weathers on my site and this worked well with the plugin in an article. The module wouldn't let me dispaly 2 so I ended up putting the plugin into a specific extension (content items in module: http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/structure-&-navigation/articles-listing/498/details) and then I edited the .php file to remove farenheit as we don't use that in Australia.
Would recommend this to everyone.

Thanks for the module - It does exactly what it says it will.
If there is a comment - and it doesn't just apply to this - "Today's Weather" can generally be ascertained by looking out the window. What is really needed is "The Weather Ahead" and to allow configuration for 1/3/5/7 (whatever) days forecast.
It's clean and you don't have any footer from the extension.
It would be nice to have a module of this extension...
