Embed PDF in content Popular Plugin

Editor's Note
  • This extension requires registration to download.
It allows you to embed PDF files in your content. You can load an external PDF file in your content very easily using this plugin.

Now Also for Joomla 1.5!

Important Note : Please Read documentation carefully before contacting support.

Please follow the Instructions below before contacting us for support.

1. Install & Enable the Plugin.

2. Place the code
{pdf=http://xxx.com/files/pdf/yourfile.pdf|500|300}

where 500 & 300 are widths and heights respectively in your content where you need to embed the PDF.

3. Make sure that the pdf url that you place in the mambot code is not treated as a html link by the Joomla Editor you are using ( If it turns blue with a underline, then it is being treated as a link. )

** The Plugin wont work if this happens.

To avoid this place the code in HTML mode of the editor rather than while using the WYSIWYG mode. Or turn the editor off before using the plugin.

We added this small Instruction sheet as we got a lot of requests having the same issue.

Please note that it will only work where the pdf embedding is supported by client side browsers. For example i have to download adobe's plugin to make it work on my Firefox in Linux ( Ubuntu )

Most windows machines will have this installed when they install the adobe reader.

Do consider giving this plugin a review if you find it useful.

On firefox i get only yhis .pdf" width="700" height="500"/>. On Chrome i also get a small window that it is also scrollable with Error page 403 in it.

It takes only a minute to sign up and download this great PDf plugin!

And it's pretty easy to install and to active it!

Make sure it isn't a html link ( Blue text ) because it won't be working then ( also add it to the html code not in a editor to have it working )

Just to display PDF's in a artikel by adding the link!

I'm not a fancy website maker type. I'm your average human, needing a simple portfolio for work.

After spending many hours trying to troubleshoot a different plugin I found a message board mentioning this PDF embedder.

My pdf was up and displayed on my site in about 5 minutes, including reading the documentation.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

great plugin and easy to use!! :)) it would be great if there was an animated gif while loading pdf. a download status pic or something like that... Because now people think that it doesn't work and leave the page before it finishes loading the pdf. I have a great bandwidth and stil takes time to show the document.

Have it working for a few months now and it is an enrichment for our 'eldery' memebers. No clicking and confusing additional screen. JCE should award it with an (add) button in it's editor.

No problems with this plugin - did exactly what I required! Needed to render a secured PDF on site with save option being hidden - did this by first securing pdf and then adding #toolbar=0 to html code as follows:

{pdf=http://path/file.pdf#toolbar=0|675|865}

The secure pdf will prompt user for password when page loads.

I absolutely love your extension.

No offense to Edocs and their effort and time put into their extension... but Tekdi's Embed PDF in content is so much better. I tooled around with EDocs for about 15 mins, couldn't get it working and quit. I also found that EDocs doesn't like files larger than 500kb and doesn't like to load them.

Tekdi's extention was up and running immediately with no problems whatsoever.

I love how the native adobe reader environment as opposed to a 3rd-party pdf environment.

NOTE: As a solution to the http:// link issue where the path to the pdf becomes an active and clickable link-- simply put the joomla-root-relative path to the pdf and take out the http://.

Example:

Instead of-
{pdf=http://www.yourdomain.com/documents/document.pdf|675|865}

Use-
{pdf=documents/document.pdf|675|865}
