ECB Dynamic XChange Rates ModuleLanguage

Shows the European Central Banks exchange rates.

Shows currencies abbreviations and flags for the presented countries. The currencies name will be shown if you move the mouse pointer over the flags.

Saves a copy of the exchange rates to database so you can see the prognosis of the currencies up to five days back and presented beside current value of currency by pictures.

The list of currencies is dynamic through own Javascript functions so if you click a currency in the list will all other currencies and their cache values be updated immediately without a reload of the page.

The module is multilingual

September 20 2011:
Added the parameter module class suffix and the Israeli shekel, ILS

January 21 2011:
From January 1, Estonia has been switched to the euro so I have removed the Estonian kroon from module

October 23 2010:
If you change the cache so that more days will be shown, it will not be updated until there is new rates. This is fixed in this version.

The user gaatec made me aware of a big miss when the changes of the default currency and date format were made in the language files.
The result was that the American date format and the British currency GBP was shown for those using the English language file on there websites and to change the currency and date format is quite complicated when it must be done in the language file.
To solve this I've added four parameters which set the standard for the site where the module is used: A standard language, a standard currency, two for the date format: one for the module's title and the other for the dates in the cache values. I hope this will work better than before.
I also want to say a big thanks to gaatec

May 2, 2009:
I have modified the module so that it complies with W3's XHTML 1.0 Transitional validation wich I've forgot to check earlier

March 25, 2009:
Added the following currencies: Indian rupee (INR), Brasilian real (BRL) and Hong Kong dollar (HKD), removed Slovakian koruna because this currency was replaced with euro January 1, 2009.
If a currency temporarily not appear on the ECB list, e.g the Icelandic currency, it have until now shown the value infinity which I now have changed so the currency from now on doesn't appear in the module at all.
The parameter list in backend is unaffected so as soon as the currency shows up in the ECB list again the module will also show it.

September 15, 2008:
The last update didn't solve the problem with the filesaving regarding the cachefuntion so now I've changed the cachehandling so it uses the database instead of files.

September 4, 2008:
Some users have got an error while using the module so I've upda

It's a very good converter, but there are missing some of currencies. How can I add separate currency? Because I need the vietnamese one. My second question is how to add the modulclasssuffix parameter, is it possible? thank you

Thanks for the nice review, but because the Vietnamese exchange rate unfortunately is not on the list of exchange rates that the European Central Bank will publish and that this module retrieves currency rates from that list it can not be displayed.

I have added the parameter module class suffix and the Israeli exchange rate, ILS, to the module.

This is a great extension, and with minor problems I got this working the way I wanted to.

Had to route around a bit as the extention defaulted to GBP as the mail currency. I simply had to replace GBP with EUR in the language file, and viola It now default to Euro which we use here in Ireland.

I also changed the date format in the language file to a european format rather than the standard US format."

It would be great if such could be configurable options instead as many users would have a problem figuring these things out for themselves.

Keep up the great work. :)

Many thanks for the nice review. I've been thinking about this and the solution I come up with is that the user first choose the sites original language from a list and then set the dateformat and the currency.
I haven't thougth about that but it's a huge mistake by me to use the languagefile to set the dateformat and currency in the languagefile so I most grateful that You pointed it out to me.

Best regards
