Migrated my 1.x site easily with this component. Only thing I would also have wanted was it to migrate sh404SEF. I know it does Artio, but as sh404SEF is editor recommended it would be nice to have out of the box.

I had a HUGE website, with a GIANT content database, and found that by creating a new Joomla 1.5 install, and extracting using mtwMigrator, getting my content across was very simple, and fast. Thanks Mats!

We upgrade a small site from Joomla 1.0.15 (without many extensions) to 1.5.14 and were to lazy to copy our content "by foot". This extensions did the job for us. The only catch was a password for the old joomla db containing a Dollar sign ($). The extension didn't like that :). After changing the pw the migration worked flawless. Many thanks to the author.

Great useful extension which helped me to bring an old Mambo site to the Joomla light, something that the default Import tool of Joomla installer could not do (no matter what I tried, this gave me errors, and for trying again I had to delete all files, extract the Joomla package again, start it all over again). THIS should be the officialy-recommended migration component.
It seems to be under development still, and shows some lack of user-friendness -- that's why I rate it like "good" only. Popup help (balloons) would help a lot, and it could also provide as an option the support on uploading a SQL backup (like those generated by CPanel), so you would not have to recreate an old database in your server (some providers allow you to have only one database, so...).
Maybe these features will come in a future release, and will be surely welcome. But if you are reading this for having a tip on how to update your whole site, don't be afraid -- go with mtwMigrator.

I spent the better part of the day yesterday trying to use this extension to migrate a site, which uses sh404SEF and specifies the title aliases to be used in the articles' URLs for search engine purposes. I just discovered this morning as I returned to work that none of the URLs are the same as in the original existing Joomla 1.0 site - because the title aliases in all of our content items did not migrate over to our Joomla 1.5 test site. Unfortunately, I couldn't post in the developer's support forum because I am ignorant in Spanish. We can't replace our 1.0 site with a 1.5 site if the existing URLs aren't going tobe the same! Anyone else have this problem?
Owner's reply
First, sh404SEF is not supported yet. And second, Joomla 1.0 dont have url aliases, the url aliases is created with a Joomla 1.5 function from the original title. Is obviously that the existing url arent going to be the same because i think that the url aliases is created by sh404SEF.

I have tried Joomla Migrator but it didn't exactly work. MTWMigrator makes the job so easy. It may not be perfect, but it sure does the job with minor cleanup.
I have just migrated my Mambo site after two years of trying without much problem. In one weekend, I now have a Joomla 1.5 site.
Much buzz should be made about this component. It works.

This works really well where the Joomla endorsed migrator fails.
Great work people!

After setting up the migrator, I ran it and got a series of IIIIIIII. There was no other error, nothing saying whether the processed worked or didn't. It did seem the menu was copied over, but nothing else, including the users or content. I have emailed the developer, but as of yet have not received a reply. I may not have the component configured correctly, but I cannot find good documentation on the web and the video does not load/play.

Excellent! Just excellent.
Worked like a charm, even though my website's sql is huge (over 500mb).
I migrated both of my sites using this, also 3rd party components like jomcomment.
I did get a memorry issue problem when I hit the "migrate" to run, as my db size was huge.
I figured a way out, I am just sharing it here, so if other ppl run into that same problem they can read what I did below.
Those of you who get memory problem it is very important that you put "-1" in your memory_limit in php.ini, that is if you want to disable the memory limit , once you are done with the migration you can set the value back to 64MB or whatever your memory limit is.
You can change this via your whm or in root you can locate ur php.ini by typing: locate php.ini and then enter the path and edit the php.ini by typing nano php.ini and then edit it and set the directive of memory limit to -1.
Good luck!

I think it is a very good component. There are minor issues like the one I faced with mosimage. It seems like mtwmigrator 0.1.4 is converting only the mosimage tags from the intro text and not from the Main text. The other issue is with the alignment of images.
Other than that, I thought it worked pretty well.
Keep up the good work.

After making a terrible mistake with my own web site (installing something and blowing away the production site by mistake), I made a decision: the original site was in J!1.0, and this was a good opportunity to upgrade to J!1.5. My data was still intact, so I installed the mtwMigrator.
HUZZAH! What would have taken me DAYS to recreate by hand took minutes. There is still much fix-up work to be done, but content is there, as are sections, categories and menus.
You. Rock.
Thank you!!

I have been putting off migrating several sites due to Virtuemart but witht this tool it was a snap. Once the new site was cleaned out and VM installed. The actual migration took a whole 30sec!!! I have also used the Joomla migrate tool - put of coarse it took longer and left the VM data behind... Make sure you watch the video and read the instructions and this tool will be a real blessing!

Nicely done but I needed to run the migrator twice to get Virtuemart to migrate. My old Joomla 1.0.X site had an old 1.0 version of virtuemart. I needed to upgrade Virtuemart to 1.1 in the old Joomla 1.0.X site and then the Virtuemart migration worked perfectly! A great time saver. Thank you.
This seems like a great component, but I would like to add something that is not mentioned.
DONT import into a site that has been heavily modified, I just blew up my site completely.
2nd problem i found is the backup the migrator takes is of the DB being migrated not the DB that just got blown up, this has just set me back a weeks work as I have to now roll back 1 week.
Better documentation could have helped, apart from that, if its a fresh install, the migration seems to work great.
You have been warned!!!!!

Into the documentation (http://www.matware.com.ar/joomla/mtwmultiple-english-version.html) and the video explanation says that you need to run mtwMigrator in a NEW FRESH Joomla installation.
All the people knows that. Sorry for any problems caused.

Im giving full marks, this is one of the best component i used recently. Would be great if you support components like Ads Manager and Sobi2, now I will convert all my J 1.0 to J1.5. Thanks developer.
just downloaded and tried on one of my sites.
Installed Joomla 1.5.10, installed mtwmigrator.
Adapted the settings to connect to the old db and Go !
2 minutes later and it was running for 99% of the data. Just had to handcopy my downloadables (pdf, doc etc) to the right DocMan subdir and handcopy the images i had placed in ../images/stories from the old site to the new site.
Once that was done everything is 100%. And all in just 15 minutes.
Thanks a lot !! Now i can migrate all of the other 1.0.x sites with no problem.

I have created a whole new website on Joomla 1.5, have moved over from 1.0.12. The site was never upgraded due to size and level of custom work done.
After trying several tools, this helped me in minutes to transfer old CB users to new site.
Thank you for this solution!

After watching the recommended video, this was SO easy to use, and worked like a charm. Was quite fast too! Thanks MTW!!!
