The term Alpha Release by no means implies that it is a complete product. As such there are plenty of areas where the component needs to be updated (adhering to the MVC methodology is just one such aspect).

There are known issues with particular versions of PHP (4.0 noteablely) and as such it is possible you were seeing these issues.

Before you ask. Yes there is another version in the works. However I am focusing my efforts on making it for the Joomla 1.6 Stable Release rather than 1.5 - And the development of components such as these come second to my paying the mortgage and other associated bills.

I am sorry you didn't get a chance to see what the Alpha could do, and I hope you will keep an eye out of the 1.6 Stable version (I am anticipating releasing another Alpha or RC for the current 1.6 snapshot shortly).
